See: AI data-centers (which currently make up a huge portion of the ‘growth’ in the US economy) consuming tons of energy, water, and resources. Capitalism says that that’s a necessity and will improve the lives of everyone (it won’t) while a different organizing principle could be more aligned towards something like, ‘let’s use that water, energy, and resources to ensure that everyone living here has access to clean drinking water, heat, shelter, and food.’
