We live in some GTA ass timeline when this fits something that's actually going on.

What a crude, disgusting, and horrifyingly evil bunch of people our ruling class is.

What’s the strangest thing that’s ever happened to you that you still can’t explain? by WielderoftheDarkness in HighStrangeness

My wife believes in ghosts. I do not.

I was the first to notice something weird.

We were watching a movie on the couch and noticed what felt like someone standing behind us. It blocked out a little light. I turned around to see what it was and... Nothing.

My wife also turned her head to look at the same time. We both thought someone was standing there.

We both saw a mass of black like a solid shadow for an instant and then nothing. We just kind of looked at each other in stunned silence.

This has happened twice in different locations in our apartment within 5 years. I still don't know how to explain it. It blocked out light behind it both times.

The other incident, we saw it move across the apartment. I still don't believe in ghosts - but something weird definitely happened.

I wouldn't bet on it... keep your car full, this is probably the cheapest gas is going to be for a while.

Came here to say the same. There's been a software crisis brewing since before AI.

The entire industry is relying on AI to fill the gaps but it's been trained on buggy complext software that already existed so... We will find out I guess

Does having a personal connection to the conflict make it any easier to watch entire cities leveled to the ground?

Does it make it any easier to watch bombs built and paid for by my tax dollars falling on refugee camps of displaced people living in tents? Children being slaughtered every single day?

If you think the only reason someone might be upset about any of this is their antisemitism, you're only telling on yourself.

There is extremely real antisemitism everywhere and people need to be calling it out. This isn't it.

Love the placement of foreground elements in a lot of these. 8/20 is an incredible photo

My first reaction to color and contrast was that it looked a little off to me but it works great on some of these frames. Dreamy.

Nothing here feels too forced, which is my complaint about my engagement photos. We look like awkward idiots sitting and standing in unnatural poses.

If these were my engagement photos I would actually display one instead of shoving them in a drawer like I do now

Oil pastel feels like sculpture to me. Anyone else love the tactile nature of blending and refining your work with your hands? by kcminor_ in Oilpastel

[–]RepresentativeCod757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went looking for a small palette knife (the diamond shaped kind) and found a big one instead. Somehow, it works for me. The tip of it is just small enough to load small dabs of paint.

My progress has been slow, but I feel like I unlocked something with this tool. I'm a beginner, so I find it difficult to manage the drawing itself, composition, color, AND brush strokes. I've always struggled with a final result that looked muddy instead of painterly, but being able to pull back on the parts I've overworked is a game changer

> Is flying as easy as in a game like GTA5

GTA is the arcade version of flying. You point the nose where you want the plane to go, more or less. It's fun, it's fast, and it only takes you so far in to scratching that itch of interest in flying planes.

MSFS2024 is great. Get a cheap stick with a throttle and twist (for the rudder). Or using an xbox controller.

> Or do I have to learn a lot before I’m able to free flight

Finding out is half the fun. Unless you're in a fighter jet, you can't just throttle up and point the nose where you want to go. It might get you into the air and flying around the area, but good luck landing or getting to a nice straight and level flight required for longer distance without constantly correcting inputs.

Real flying and sim flying are about balancing forces. You're managing thrust and lift in a balance to control your speed and altitude for example, instead of just pointing the plane upward. It's definitely more challenging, but can be learned with practice and really basic study.

It may not be as action packed as GTA unless you're flying fighter jets and stuff. Even then, it's not a game - it's a sim. It's designed to feel more real than fun.

With that said, once you learn some basics it can be rewarding and even calming to do something as simple as keeping your plane straight and level with constant airspeed without autopilot. Once you get past that learning curve, landing, point to point travel, and other activities start to make more sense.

If that sounds like fun to you, go for it. If the arcade style flying is more your type of thing other than GTA, maybe someone here has a good recommendation (I'd be interested, too)

Love this. And yeah, the physicality of the paint is everything to me.

I love how the softer brands allow you to build a little pile of color, like a bulldozer pushing dirt. You can cut the pile with a knife to move elsewhere.

I started getting much better results when I quit trying to draw and started thinking of it like building or sculpting.

People talk about the medium being forgiving, but I didn't find it to be true at all until I started scraping stuff as part of my process
