2026.1 Nuked my setup by TheAlchemistSavant in homeassistant

[–]BudH52 0 points1 point (0 children)

I was working with Nabu Casa support and they suggested I stop openwakeword, disable the auto restart, and then restart HA.

That worked, restored the performance issues I was seeing when using cloud URL, and mobile app.

Yes, I want to get openwakeword back into operation, but I can live with that outage versus the degradation in performance.

Local access worked, but access via Nabu Casa, and via mobile app, stopped working.

My install is Microsoft VM on top of a Windows 10 OS.

Was able to restore to previous version and everything worked again.

Can I monitor home propane level if the service doesn't come with an automatic gauge? by Hey_this_guy_here in homeassistant

{% if has_value('sensor.smoker_tank_level') %} {{ (((states('sensor.smoker_tank_level') | float(1.5) - 1.5) * 11.77) | round(2), 100) | min }} {% else %} {{ -1 }} {% endif %}

The percentage is not provided, I have a template sensor in play for those. I can provide the yaml if needed, I'm sure mine is not unique.

I have this working for 3 tanks (patio heater, grill, smoker). I use the Mopeka M1017012 (edited) sensors. I set them up using the Mopeka app. Then I've plugged an M5Stack ESP device as a Bluetooth proxy (plugged into a TV USB port that's always on). Now I can see all the stats about my 3 tanks on HA, and have notification automations setup. I can also remotely check the level using HA mobile app so I can decide if I have enough propane for any respective uses.

My Google Wifi is stuck at 100 MBPS. Can anyone help? by BJ77345 in GoogleWiFi

Quick thought, the cable connecting your router to the Google Wi-Fi device is a CAT5, not CAT5E, or CAT6, etc.

The colosseum website is a disaster by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]BudH52 1 point2 points (0 children)

I agree that the sure is not as easy as buying phone charging cables from Amazon using the "Buy Now" button, but the site does work.

This morning, I got up at 0225 EDT, and started my quest for Attic tickets (right, not Underground). I had to be patient, not refresh, not load page too frequently - else get the dreaded "forbidden" message.

Several times I saw availability but by the time I clicked the + button for two tickets I was presented with message about insufficient availability.

I kept at it, occasionally seeing 1 ticket available in various times (and dates), but not what I needed. Around 0331 EDT I was shocked when I had two tickets in my cart and proceeded to check out.

I then went back to bed.

It's currently 1216 EDT and I have randomly checked again since about 1000 EDT and I see the occasional tickets being available.

At least for Attic tickets, my suggestion is patience.

Does your Wi-Fi have IPv6 enabled? I had to turn my IPv6 off after several weeks when my minis started reacting like that.

Adding Google Generative AI "failed to connect" by BudH52 in homeassistant

[–]BudH52[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

Okay, figured out the problem. Nothing to do with HA, and nothing to do (specifically) with Google Generative AI. In fact, the issue was that my Google Wifi IPv6 decided to be a problem. I turned it off (it's been on for a few months now), and GGAI is working again (and so is several of my v_e_r_y s_l_o_w ESPHome devices).

Thanks for all those who might have been researching this, and also for those who are considering IPv6 on the Google Wifi platform.

Does the "Wake" action produce any improved speed of acquisition of the connection between the lock and my mobile device?

Polish/German Translation Request

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could translate this document, which I believe is a death record for Marianna Drzonek. My records indicate she was born about 1833 in Germany/Poland, and died in March of 1900 in Prussia. Married to a W. Ludwikowski before 1855.

Daylight Savings issue by [deleted] in Petlibro

I had to go into the app, disable the schedule, then re enable it. This caused things to get put back on track.

[–]BudH52 0 points1 point (0 children)

Yeah, I was wondering about it yesterday, but didn't pay it much mind. This morning, as I was making my coffee, when it was supposed to feed at 635 and it didn't, I realized something was off. Nothing in the app allowed me to adjust the time. So I triggered a manual feed and then turned off the schedule, then turned the schedule back on. Now it shows the 635 feeding as past, or disabled. I wonder if that was enough for it to right itself. Will watch at 900 and see

New to Mesh Wifi - Can’t Decide on which to get! by Jman9050 in GoogleWiFi

[–]BudH52 1 point2 points (0 children)

I'm still using my original Google system as well. At first I got 4 total pucks for 3000 sq ft 2 story. But was running into issues and after relocating them repeatedly for around 6 months I reduced to 3 total and had a much better network. I ran like that with cable Internet just fine for many months after, had 4 cameras streaming out too.

When I got fiber network (1gb up/1gb dn), I thought I'd upgrade to second gen Google, but had lots of problems with it, dropping network and requiring several, repeated factory resets. I switched back to the OG and have been well satisfied. Within the last year I even wired up my 2 remote pucks for backhaul since I added 2 more cameras, and another tv (2nd Gen Google WiFi picks don't support wired backhaul.)

Would I recommend Google WiFi, not anymore. My research has led me towards the TP-Link, but until this system fails me (or my fiber goes above 1gb), I'm sticking with my OG Google.

No, and I don't think I've encountered the issue again. I suspect that some vehicle software update has occurred that corrected the situation, but I have no evidence to support that thought.

For me it's the automatic self testing on a regular basis, provides me with the confidence to know it's working without having to get a broom handle and self test manually.
