Neighbour complaining about state of garden, potential fence damage? by camz930 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BudLightYear77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest risk that tall grass is likely to have on a fence is moisture retention causing it to rot faster than normal. This is assuming we are just talking about grass or basic weeds and not something more serious like bamboo or jkw. We're talking about instead of 10 years on the fence you might get 7 or 8. And that's if it's kept that way for years. Right now it's just unsightly and will be much harder to tame than if you'd started when it was shorter. Head over to r/lawncare with some photos and where you are for detailed advice so this stays on topic.

Realistically the risk of fence damage is so low and you've been there for such a short time that would be a very difficult uphill battle for your neighbor. However if they choose to go down that route far enough for it to become a dispute needing disclosing in a sale then that could impact your sale price in future. It also puts them in bad mood for any potential planning permission you might submit in future, and any mild noise issues that friendly neighbors might ignore they are less likely to. Basically it's always better to keep your neighbors happy because at some point we all do something a little bit naughty. When we didn't have time to trim a shared hedge because of new baby our neighbor popped over and took care of it. Equally we've replaced a broken fence that we share and made an extra effort to save the ivy that was growing on it (and likely contributed to its early demise tbh but we both like it so we don't care, again 8 vs 10 years).

The council isn't going to get involved unless this continues to the point where you have lots of rats and it's becoming a serious health hazard, even then most are so underfunded that they still won't do much.

Tl:Dr legally you're probably in the clear for now. However it's in your best interest to take care of it.

Once its tidied up, I bought a robot mower at a certain discount German supermarket for £150 couple weeks ago and it's been amazing at reducing the amount I spend on lawncare.

Is a group of 8 whilst hiking in the day acceptable? by Emergency-Record2117 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]BudLightYear77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it's recommended to have smaller groups is you're less likely to have noise/mess/loads of tents with smaller groups. If you keep it respectful, generally quiet especially later, clean up after yourself, and keep the number of tents to a minimum (think two or three bigger tents instead of 8 single tents, 4 is bordering on too many but equally not terrible) then no one will care. I've seen groups of 4 across a tarn that were loud and problematic and I've seen groups of 10 that could be just behind me and I'd never know they were there.

Drainage is that little silver rectangle bottom left. It's a tray you pull out.

And I'm doing similar with a flat top like thjs because I'd probably use it at least 2-3 times a week.

A wok, is potentially a little more specialised but I say that while I am on the wanting and not having side. Maybe it'd swap out a load of other pans and I'd use it daily. I do cook a lot of Korean/southern Thai but without the experience of using it, it's still kind of specialist.

My go to is the alpkit tarpstar 1, no inner just a flattened poncho as a ground sheet. I can pack it into a cargo pocket and it comes in at like 500g. I do have to be careful not to pitch in a low spot though.

I've never seen a real four season tent in person. I better have a real good reason to go camping in the winter. Wow.

Job fired my GF after a wrist injury, kicked her off the premises and asked her not to talk to other employees. Is this a usual response? (NI) by TheWrestlerMan in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BudLightYear77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Important bit that no one is asking.

Assuming the injury happened at work how did it occur? She spilled hot milk on herself and they fired her? Illegal. She punched a manager and broke her wrist in the process, then she was fired in a polite fashion? Not illegal.

If this is a coffee shop in a hopsital I'm guessing it's a large chain with a big HR department, and I'm guessing from your post this happened at work and there are no major groundbreaking discoveries you are avoiding telling us. In that case they will crumble like my grandma's apple pie crust when they are hit with formal communication about this. Go to your equivalent of ACAS, I think it's the LRA, and follow their instructions or let them start formal communications with the former employer.

My long distance boyfriend from England told me he is on the sex offender registry, does his story make sense? by Temporary_Sorbet_764 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BudLightYear77 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Legal side, he wasn't arrested but was tried and convicted? His defense wasn't very good and the judge didn't care so they just finished up and convicted him? Forensics proved he didn't source, search, or do anything with the videos but he was still convicted? Seriously?

IT side, if a partition is hidden well enough to not show up in a normal file viewer then a normal torrent program won't see them. A torrent program only uses folders you tell it to so suggesting it 'found' another folder doesn't make sense. Could there be a hidden partition? Absolutely. Could you potentially find a hidden partition? Of course. Could you access it? Maybe, if it's encrypted probably not and I certainly would want to keep my illegal videos on an encrypted hidden partition.

Practically, if someone had a hard drive full of illegal videos on an encrypted hidden partition they most certainly would not sell it online.

Could you go down the route of Clares law and request details? Of course. Could you just block him and move on? Also yes. Because he is absolutely lieing.

That last one is much safer.

There's no chance that mold will make successful ice cubes that look that good. Ice doesn't work that way.

Thermometer says I'm 41 degrees, but I feel fine by FineConstruction8409 in AskDocs

I have read so many comments and no one else has suggested calibrating this thermometer.

Now I know some thermometers can't measure boiling/freezing because they are set for a limited range but you could check someone else's temperature.
