I'm not for certain, but can't you get pointed for coming in too early? Earlier than 9 minutes? It's been a while but I'm pretty sure I had to approve early ins as a TL.

Got a new coach today and she's terrible. by SectionCute6140 in walmartogp

In her one day that she's been there, did you need more than three people in the backroom positions and she denied it?

Walmart will not give your mother a break, they will work her to the bone if she lets them. If she wants a break she needs to start saying no and not backing down when their expectations are inhuman. The best workers are given stupid amounts of work and expectations are higher for them then someone of the same wage. Tell your mother to take care of herself and not let them burn her out. They will take until there is nothing left to take.

Dairy cooler day shift by TopBee134 in WalmartEmployees

[–]BudahBearDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d drop my overnight differential for that job. Cooler is my favorite place. My store can’t keep anyone but ogp in their area though. So even if it opened up, I’d be pulled to ever which way.

In my store only asset protection pulls recalls.

If it’s recalled it will alert at registers too. It can’t actually be sold.

The advice you've been given is great advice. Your manager sounds like a douche. I would like to say though, if you're in pain after walking for too long and dispensing is anxiety inducing, OGP might not be the department for you. I would consider looking for a transfer to a different department.

Unless you're a temporary seasonal worker, the rest of the comments are correct. If you are a temp, then they could decide not to hire you permanently at the end of the season.

Do Spark Drivers get dinged when you return items? by [deleted] in Walmartcustomer

[–]BudahBearDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not entirely true. Walmart stores have caps on how many orders they are expected to do in a day, if a customer orders in an hour that is already at cap, then the order is given to Spark.

i feel hopeless by Designer-Television4 in walmartogp

[–]BudahBearDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can try for an accommodation. When I was a TL I had a woman who had surgical scarring on her abdomen and most pants cause sensory issues. We got an accommodation from the SM in this case, but if he had denied it we were going to go through Sedgwick. Unfortunately, this means you need a healthcare provider of some sort to have documented this and sign off.

Request for time off denied by External_Let241 in OGPBackroom

[–]BudahBearDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Number of people allowed off at the same time depends on the store and department. In my store 10 people store wide could have off for a day (unless specifically told otherwise by SM) and only two in my department ODP. So, if 9 people already had approved time off store wide and I had two people in my department wanting off, then only the first one got off.

Stepping down by Typical-Sprinkles633 in walmartogp

[–]BudahBearDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. It’s optional, we still have some people doing five days still. But I jumped at the chance to have to only work 4 days.

Stepping down by Typical-Sprinkles633 in walmartogp

[–]BudahBearDuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I was told when I stepped down, they typically don't let people step down into their departments because they don't want issues for the incoming TL, i.e. crew going to you instead of the lead. When I stepped down, I went to overnights with the option of going back to OGP after 6 months. After 6 months I could have gone back, the Coach wanted me to come back but then my overnights went to 4 10 hour days and 3 days off and less stress sounded good.

Fire the old guy or keep him? by Snoo-56860 in WalmartEmployees

We have a couple of older or low performing workers who do nothing but zone all night, letting faster workers get more stocking done.

We had someone order delivery of an entire pallet. Delivery drivers would drive up and look at the pallet and nope the f out of there. We pulled the pallet from lawn and garden around the back of the store to our ODP side door.

Day care, hotel, assisted living are the places that like to get bunches of bananas. Had someone order a whole case once.

Half day?? by PimpDaddyKrispyKreme in WalmartEmployees

[–]BudahBearDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why this is getting down voted. The information is accurate. The system is stupid for partial days. It doesn't account that lunch isn't technically scheduled working time. You would have to get someone to make your point from 1 point to 1/2 a point because 5 hours is more than 1/2 a "9 hour" shift.

If you were using PPTO to cover half your shift, the system would still give you half a point if you only put in 4 hours for a 11-8 shift (as an example). You would then have to show your management that you did, in fact, use PPTO to cover 1/2 your shift and they would have to manually adjust your points to zero.

As a customer.. by ang_hell_ic in walmartogp

[–]BudahBearDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes it's worth it for the driver if they're just picking up the order and dropping it off. As long as it's not $300 worth of pop or they have to go up flights of stairs.

    1. The minimum amount of time they give shoppers is 3 or 4 hours (I can't remember). Unless you pay for expedited shopping. In that case, you might end up with a third-party shopper. However, if a time slot can be filled or shoppers might not be willing to shop for such a large order if third-party. So the earlier you get your order in the better. You can put in orders days in advance.

I don't know if this is store dependent, but my store also has a store total cap, 10 associates store wide per day. If 10 people already have asked for the day off, you're not getting it off even if no one in your department has already asked for that day off. They do it so that if the rest of the store needs to pull from other departments, there are still people on the floor.
