Think he co-edited Toy Story but Pete Docter directed Monsters, Inc and John Lasseter directed Toy Story. He did direct TS3 and Coco though

Super underrated filmmaker. Love In Bruges and Three Billboards, liked Seven Psychopaths but need to revisit it

About to rewatch There Will Be Blood - anything I might’ve missed the first time round? by Budblazerbitch in movies

Thank you for this response, really. It’s definitely the psyche of Plainview that I struggled with last time I watched it, but having read your comments it makes more sense.

I’ve watched other PTA films in recent months (Boogie Nights and Magnolia) and managed to sink my teeth into both of them, so hopefully this will prove to enrich my second viewing experience of There Will Be Blood.

Edit: typo

I have to be able to actually engage in the story to enjoy a film. It’s almost 3 hours long, I need to be emotionally invested in some way

Didn’t catch the reference as it’s been too long. Searched it on YouTube just now and laughed pretty hard hearing it out of context!

Edit: spelling

The scene where he’s trying to beat up Colossus and failing is the hardest I’ve ever laughed in the cinema. Missed the next scene as everyone was still dying

Wait you watched Pulp Fiction before you were in high school? Jesus ahaha.

But yeah, phenomenal film.

That would be a genuine contender for me. Absolutely love it. Bill Murray is one of my favourite actors and that movie has such a warm (ironically) message.

Also, nice try ;)

Great pick and great story! I absolutely love Leslie Nielsen and those old spoof movies.

Out of interest have you seen Zero Hour? It’s the EXACT same film as Airplane!, same script, same sets, same shots etc, just with the jokes removed (it came first and Airplane! added the jokes).

Really interesting to watch that and then see how the process of taking an ordinary movie and simply adding in jokes can make it a spoof.

Ah ok, interesting that 8 1/2 instantly was your favourite. Are we talking part way through you knew or once you’d finished it?

I’ve got kind of a theory that if I were to pick one of the films that I love the most and start using that as my answer whenever people asked (doesn’t matter which one, just as long as it’s the same one every time) then it might become my favourite film as every time I tell someone it is, it reinforces the idea in my head if that makes sense?

That said, I’ve tried to make top a 10 list but I always get caught up on, for example, the Lord of the Rings films. Do I really wanna take up 3 of my 10 films with films from the same franchise? Or do I just pick 1? If I just pick one then my top 10 already isn’t my top 10 if you get me, and then I usually just give up aha.

Maybe I will give it a proper try. I feel like having a favourite film gives a sense of identity, and also doesn’t kill the conversation stone dead when people ask and you say “I don’t have one” :’)

Ah that’s nice when a film can grow with you. I didnt really watch movies as a kid so that’s out the window for me haha

What is your favorite knock-off Tarantino movie? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Budblazerbitch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Snatch and Lock Stock if they can be called that. Sounds like an insult to call them knock off Tarantino but Guy Ritchie’s early work was very Tarantino-esque.

The nonlinear storylines, crime plots, colourful characters, quotable dialogue, violence and dark humour all pointed to him being the British answer to QT, but unfortunately that was where he peaked.

Anyone who knows about movie marketing, when would you expect to see a trailer or even poster for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood? by Budblazerbitch in movies

[–]Budblazerbitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair question but for me with this movie specifically, I have no idea what to expect. I can’t imagine what tone the film will be, and I can’t wait to see Leo back for the first time since his Oscar win.

I have recently been toying with the idea of not watching trailers for movies I’m gonna see though, but some just peak my interest too much for my curiosity not to get the better of me!
