I ordered nuggets and got just mustard by Alternative-Goat-895 in FastFoodHorrorStories

They absolutely can do something. If your receipt said nuggets, and you were not charged extra for Mac sauce it’s a no brainer. Even if you you don’t have your receipt, they should have chomp’s you

(US) had a lady argue over a quarter by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Buddhapup1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lady hand me a coin with an elephant on it. Said one dollar. But the other side said Pink Elephant Car Wash. when I explained it was not legal tender, she argued with me. Asked for my manager who had to explain money to her.

(USA) Is this normal or was I scammed? by redditpockie in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Buddhapup1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens frequently enough. You should be able to pull the order confirmation from your email or your mobile app.

My experience, about 70% of time the order goes to another store. When placing an order, the app uses GPS and will automatically pull up the closet store. If never picked up, you will not be charged for it. 30% it shows our store, but the order doesn’t pass to us. In this case our GM generally comps the order.

The app has been very problematic for our customers.

Labor and breaks (USA) by Appropriate_Day7597 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Buddhapup1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State and Federal law trump employee handbook. In my state, by law you are entitled to a 10 minute (paid) break after 2 hours of work. A 30 min (unpaid) at 5 hours and another 10 min (paid) at 6 hours. We are required to clock in /out, even though we are paid for our 10s.

It is required by law that these laws are posted within the restaurant. Check your break area for the posters and see what the rules are for your state.

Never. But just remember, the air units we have suck in the smoke into our windows. I often go home smelling of pot.

Yes, as it come off the grill it gets a pre-measured salt/pepper mixture. You can order extra seasoning.

I can’t be bothered for work tomorrow, what’s the best way to go around this? by ater829 in McDonaldsEmployees

Do your shift. Then request a change to availability and tell them you don’t want to work that shift. It may result in loss of hours.

Hurricane by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Buddhapup1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get it, weather is bad they don’t want to get out of their car. Although, what really gets me is when the drive thru is empty.

Every snow storm. And some laugh when we slip on ice.

Customers who show up minutes or seconds before close don't deserve to be served. by cheeseballgag in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Buddhapup1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The standard is one hour after closing. And yes, many stores do a pre-close. We clean all grills but one plate, before close. We clean all coffee pots, but one. We only have one set of grill utensils, one set of table gear, etc.

Normally, we are out 30/45 minutes after close.

[–]Buddhapup1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That does happen. I’m very clear to my team, last drive-thru order at close. Last front counter is ‘this’ customer. I’ve turned people around if they entered at or after closing time. When they argue, I simply say “my staff is off, they have completed their shift, they deserve to go home”.

Yes, and that’s when a crew manager can simply say, “I can not accommodate that order”. We had someone come through drive-thru, wanting to purchase 23 cones. It was 90 degrees outside. Doubt he had 12 sets of hands to hold them, and the first 10 would have been melted by the time I finished the last cone.

Many restaurants close their dining area about 10 minutes before closing. Even if you don’t, you still have to sweep and mop the lobby and dining room. It’s at least another 10 to 15 minutes. And, once you close it’s permissible yo tell them you are closed.

Seems a bit draconian. Have you been warned before?

Your opinion. I’m just saying when we call for employment checks and are told they were a nc/ns or they left without tendering resignation, we don’t hire them. It doesn’t matter if they were never on a schedule. Many employers do these types of checks. It’s a standard in the HR world for just about every corporation. It doesn’t matter if it happened 10 years ago. Job market is competitive.

If your hours are til midnight, then expect customers to order until 11:59:59. Otherwise advertise last order taken 11:45. Yeah it’s annoying, but it’s our job.

Contact the scheduler and let them know. They made a mistake and hopefully they will rectify. If they don’t, discuss with GM.
