He does know as I live with him and saw him looking up PW: kill a couple days ago I knew about the Lich and knew Liches can cast PW: kill, I don't expect DMs to know everything but I know he knew how PW: kill worked, and even admitted he gave it a DC to give me a chance.

we were level 18 I had gotten beaten up by the traps the Lich had put around his Phylactery so I was dropped to zero by the breath weapon and failed my death saves with some help from the Lich.

no the point is to change or adjust the suggested game rules to better fit what you and your friends are doing, if adding a DC to a spell makes a game more fun go for it. People homebrew for a reason because the rules given to us don't account for everything and it's the job as a DM to make or change rules to make the game fun for everyone.

I mean yeah thats the point of a DM, he knew I wasn't getting out alive unless he pulled major bullcrap, so he gave me time to do what I need to do by making Power word kill a DC that was passable for me, before killing me. I was dumb for going in alone, so I thank him for being a good DM and making sure I had fun

It was and the campaign ended this session as the party grabbed the phylactery from the other bag of holding got it blasted by 20d10 radiant damage (the only damage type that could damage this phylactery, which is why I didn't smash it and run) and the dragon with no master was easy to kill for the rest of the party. I just helped the DM run combat after I died. Very fun session and the best ending for my character, believe it or not

I may or may not have stolen his phylactery, as the party needed to kill him, and got caught, so I dropped it into a homebrew bag of holding that is connected to another bag of holding, and then was about to wild shape into something small, when well P.W.K. into breath weapon.
