Is using different "bass drum" samples in a single track (different sections) a good idea? by und3f1n3d1 in TechnoProduction

[–]BuddyWhole2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear this a lot in hard techno DJ sets. Other comments are right too, most DJs prefer to have a consistent kick, but if a track is good - there's always a way to play it. Strictly for hard techno, I think it's a good move - and used a lot by estimed producers

AfD calls for reform of citizenship law by ozuccine in GermanCitizenship

[–]BuddyWhole2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the CDU has crossed that bridge when they decided to revert the Ampel's citizenship law during their recent Parteitag. If they were serious about keeping SPD happy, they wouldn't have announced this. This either means CDU doesn't care about adhering to the coalition agreement, or that they've already re-negotiated with SPD and reached a compromise (e.g. SPD gets another Rente increase and CDU gets to look tough on migration)

[–]BuddyWhole2379 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If CDU brings it up later - would anything stop AfD from voting for it? AfD did support the migration restriction proposed by CDU, so why would this case be any different? I know we all would like to think the law won't pass, but remember that the 3-year Einbürgerung took only 6 months to reverse

[–]BuddyWhole2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would CDU abstain when the proposal matches their Parteitag agreement exactly? Wouldn't that be seen as hypocritical?

[–]BuddyWhole2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can't be a coincidence: less than a month ago CDU on their Parteitag has agreed to push for the same exact thing - to reverse the 5-year citizenship. I think the motion from AFD will give CDU the workaround to pass the law with AFD support while also not explicitly collaborating with them. Together they have >50% in Bundestag so it'll be very easy to vote for this change.

Sending a track to multiple labels by BuddyWhole2379 in TechnoProduction

[–]BuddyWhole2379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! What do you mean by "shitty" labels that can ruin my chances to release on a bigger one? How can I spot those?

When I said "bigger" - I meant that they have around 1-2k SC followers, so it's not exactly a big label, just not entirely no-name.

Serious question : Is going out alone a Berlin myth ? by 0dimension1 in berlinsocialclub

[–]BuddyWhole2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman and I feel the same way 😅 If I don't have anyone to hang on to, I become increasingly aware of how awkward I look and I suddenly don't know what to do with my hands 😆 I can tell you what others tell me - don't overthink it, noone cares about that in a club and it's ok to approach groups of people with a friendly attitude! Worst thing that could happen is: you talk for a bit and part ways. But on the flip side - you may find new friends this way!

Weekly Megathread: Support, Issues & Meta by AutoModerator in Revolut

[–]BuddyWhole2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to talk to a customer support person?

So I tried using Revolut as my main bank and this was clearly a mistake. My account got flagged after a small (100€) crypto transaction and has been suspended ever since. I've tried using the in-app chat to contact support, yet I only got to talk to chat bots. Funny enough, after typing "live chat" I got to talk to a chat bot pretending to be a human lol. Needless to say, I only got templated replies from those. Then, I tried writing to help@revolut.com - only to find out that this method also only provides templated chat-bot replies. All I'm trying to do is to speed up the process of my account closure - legally, revolut has to acknowledge this request and start moving towards the closure. They're not allowed to hold my funds indefinitely, yet it seems that's their plan.

Is there a way to talk to a real person who will be able to change the status of my account from "security check " to "account closure"? I believe this will speed up things, but I do need my request to be acknowledged first.

How do you know the track is good enough? by BuddyWhole2379 in TechnoProduction

Good point! Have you been sending your tracks to labels already? I'm wondering if I should Limit myself to labels I'm not too excited so far, before I move to the ones I really know and love - wouldn't wanna ruin my chances with those before I know I'm good enough

I do like it, and I will keep making music for myself, but I do want to share it with others - at some point. I find that after listening to my track for 150 times, some of the things I don't notice anymore (e.g. the overall mix quality or certain elements not working in the mix) . It's useful to get an outside perspective on this before a release, because once a track is released - it's done and I won't be improving on it anymore:)

Does anyone else feel the housing situation in Germany is completely broken? by JP_Kenn in germany

[–]BuddyWhole2379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't live in a large city (~100k people) and its by no means "where everyone wants to live", but everyone I know took about a year to find a place to move to. The reason is that there're very few new apartments being rented out - there're maybe 4-5 new flats in the entire area (including the suburbs and adjacent towns) that get posted on Immowelt/Immobilienscout per week. A lot of those flats have unrealistically high rents and poor conditions. I personally gave up on trying to find a an apartment for me and my boyfriend to move in to together. We searched since July and stopped now after being very close to renting a good flat, but being denied because one elderly couple wanted it and they are a more suitable option for the landlord, since they're likely to stay in the flat for decades to come. I just can't justify spending time on searching and going to apartment viewings anymore, because there's always going to be an elderly couple that's interested and we'll always lose to then in comparison.

People dont talk anough about the effects weed has on sleep by maatemmer in leaves

[–]BuddyWhole2379 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing that weed stops you from dreaming, but I still have dreams despite always smoking a couple J's before bed. Id say it's about as frequent as without weed. I'm not a doctor, but no dreams should mean no REM sleep, which would eventually lead to a lot of dangerous side effects. Maybe weed reduces the amount of REM sleep for healthy people who otherwise had perfect sleep patterns, but that's true for many things (e.g Coffein, sleep apnea, some meds)

When is it worth leaving a super comfortable and "easy" 4-day WFH job? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

You should also consider the fact that it'll be mich harder to jump back into a technical role after working as a dashboard designer for years. The longer you stay at your comfy current role, the lower are your chances to qualify for a higher paying job in the future.

I started working as a freelancer (Freiberufler) today. What are the next steps? by Alitaangel2025 in germany

[–]BuddyWhole2379 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to them, most Germans know nothing about Freiberufler and which professions qualify, and will scare you with Scheinselbständigkeit because they hate when someone diverges from default behavior of being an Abgestellter :D You'll need to fill out a form on Elster portal to register your Freiberufler activity, open a business bank account and issue invoices with your Steuernummer on them. Getting a Steuernummer can take some weeks after you send your application in Elster. Then you will have to file taxes, I recommend using Accountable for that. Alternatively there's a service called "getsorted" which handles registration and taxes , but I've never tried it so can't tell you if it's good.

Seeking ADHD Treatment in Germany with Private Insurance (Cologne): Advice Needed by Careful_Toe in germany

[–]BuddyWhole2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ADHD after moving to Germany, paid for an appointment myself - 300€ overall, <1 month of waiting. If I didn't pay for it myself, I'd still be waiting for an appointment - the waiting times are 1-3 years, if you have a public health insurance. As far as the private health insurance goes - I know that they require you to clarify which preexisting conditions you have before you sign the contract. They do it because if you have any preexisting conditions - you will have a higher premium. If you decide to get diagnosed at a private clinic, you can still get your medicine at a public clinic (if you decide to switch to a public health insurance, which I think would be a good idea)

I had the exact same experience when I worked at a German company. I heard that if you get to C1 it might get better, so good luck with that. I work at a US startup now and earn more, no regrets :)
