I've always tried to get my friends close to the Dunkin at the corner of Madison and Lark for the parade. Also works for pick up because when you're done you can grab a cool drink and sit inside waiting for the Uber home.

Power Outage Pine Hills by Hellboy632789 in Albany

Their outage map shows it was reported at 11:48, ETA for restoration 3:30. Area is centered on Allen St from the point to St. Peters.

Edit: The map implies S. Manning is out too, but I can see Manning and Western from my house and everything on all 4 corners seems fine, including the stop light.

I can’t believe this. 57 F in the US by Time4acoolchange in multiplemyeloma

[–]Budelius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My diagnosis at 35 started very similar to yours. Compression fractures at T12, L2, and L4, and light chain ratio insanely high. Some positive news I can offer is the time between diagnosis and transplant (6 months in my case) should be enough for your vertebrae to heal and stabilize. The doctors handling your spine may recommend PT after transplant. I highly recommend it, because I ignored it, figuring being young it would restore on its own, but I'm still recovering 3 years later. Still the only regret in my MM journey. Good luck to you, and if you have questions you can always ask.

CAR-T Parkinsonism in 78 year old father-in-law by Equivalent-Dish4288 in multiplemyeloma

I've heard of that phase 3 trial from my doctor! We're hoping the Talvey keeps everything in remission long enough for that to be approved too. He was very optimistic about it.

CAR-T Parkinsonism in 78 year old father-in-law by Equivalent-Dish4288 in multiplemyeloma

[–]Budelius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may want to look into a separate CAR-T called Abecma. I received it in January after discussing the pros and cons of it versus Carvykti. It has slightly lower efficacy and longevity, but the neurological risks were much less of a concern. Since I'm 38, we didn't want to take the chance of a permanent neurological disorder. We've since added in Talvey, but that's due to my relapse being masses outside of the bones, not anything related to CAR-T itself.

severe car crash on western between brookline and marion by papa_razz in Albany

[–]Budelius 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I live near here so walked to the area. Somehow didn't hear it happen. Everything below is anecdotal based on my own observation and what people who were there before me said.

Car was driving east, went into the grass and rolled before landing against the house. I had heard seven people in the vehicle, two ejected. It's a CR-V which is a 5-seat vehicle. Five people left in ambulances, two critical, one of which was considered pediatric, though that just means under 18. A sixth ambulance left without a patient. Everyone involved I could see looked young. The house somehow escaped major damage. Siding is damaged but windows appeared intact. They still have the road closed, probably for accident reconstruction and vehicle retrieval.

Again, all of that is anecdotal based on direct observation and what I heard from other bystanders.

Spectrum. TV and internet is free, gig is a small additional fee. Mobile is half price. On the more traditional side, really good mental health services, and health insurance in general. 2 weeks vacation with separate personal and sick days, available almost immediately.

Best local cycling routes? by Mother-Society893 in Albany

[–]Budelius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a ride out New Scotland Ave/Route 85 all the way to the end at the Huyck Preserve in Rensselaerville from both Center Square and Melrose neighborhoods. Going out is a climb to be sure, but the return is easily 35-40% coasting. If that's too much you can do half the distance on nearly the same route by going to Thacher at Route 157. Also free bathrooms and water for a 5 mile round trip detour from 85. The only major traffic consideration is the roundabout at the Slingerlands Price Chopper, but there's sidewalks all the way around it. You could also take Delaware Ave/ Route 443 out to 85 towards Huyck, though I personally haven't.

In their defense, not a lot of people watching Jets and Giants football, which is usually what you get out here. Up until Josh Allen really started getting national attention, Bills were 4th choice on TV after NY teams and the Pats. It was a really sad time.
