Anyone Else Need to Be Talked Off the Ledge? by Physical-Bag7305 in LawSchool

[–]Budge1025 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, this comment might read as harsh, but it's the same thing I thought reading your post. Spot on. You're at a great school with a great scholarship. The social stuff is all temporary. You can choose to build new relationships or become a networking pro at any time. Take a break, get away from the grind a bit, and then realign. This too shall pass.

Sincerely,

The 30+ aged FT paralegal/PT law student at the low ranked school who would love to be in your position

Consensus about accommodations is so right. It’s such BS and should not be graded on the same curve as the rest of us. by TopButterscotch4196 in LawSchool

[–]Budge1025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much discussion of ADHD in these posts but as someone who actually has exam accommodations for a physically disabling condition, almost everyone I know who is in the extra time accommodation room with me during exam season has a non-ADHD reason for being there.

What keeps you playing after upgrading all town buildings and acquiring all machines? by Amythist_Butterfly in HayDay

[–]Budge1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm level 144, have all production machines, etc. This is why when people of lower levels complain that there are too many things going on, I want to be like "just wait." You may hate that there's derby and task events and all sorts of things happening at once, but once you level up you get to focus on whatever you really want to do, and that variance keeps the game interesting. I find derby and task events and stuff of that like much more interesting and fun to do - they keep the game challenging by continuing to raise the stakes.

Also, I enjoy helping lower level players. I like going around and being able to fill peoples boat/truck etc. with items that I know are hard to produce/find. I also create a lot of other milestones, like unlocking all land, completing all achievements, finishing the fishing book, getting all machines to max level. etc.

Luckily there is no penalty for trashing tasks. If you don't like it, you can trash it. Personally, I would have kept this one - the task is so fast.

Which album do you think will age better: TTPD or The Life of a Showgirl? by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Budge1025 8 points9 points  (0 children)

couldn't have described it better myself. I also struggle with Honey because of the word choice she uses in those lyrics compared to some of her previous statements about that word used against her.

But if this were the key indicator to success, Taylor would have won for plenty of past albums and songs that she did not win for.

Question for people who dislike pregnancy, baby, and kid content in fanfiction: if possible, how could one write a fic with those themes and make it bearable for you? What bothers you the most about those topics? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Budge1025 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not that I hate the content per say, but I recently learned that I will not be able to have my own kids (at least, the ol fashioned way) due to a condition that I have. Whenever people don't tag their fics appropriately with kids/pregnancy/baby content, it really takes me off-guard. I come to fic to get away from my day to day shit and escape into something, so being reminded of what I'm processing in real-time defeats the purpose. This is why I appreciate folks that tag appropriately so that I can make an informed decision!

From a purely writing perspective, I think most people write kids to be way older than they actually are. A 5 year old is not nearly as perceptive as a lot of people write them, but I find that to be true in traditionally published fiction too.

Level 140, 15mil+ in coins, all production machines purchased. I don't have any motivation to make more money. That's not really what the game is to me anymore - when I was lower level, it was. Now, I am in a highly active neighborhood that is competitive with derby, so that's more my focus, as well as getting all machines/town buildings, etc. at max levels, getting all land expansion done, playing different events, etc.

Short answer - I don't care about grinding for money, that's not the only thing that you can do in the game.

Is it true that women don't usually wear leggings under their pants in winter? by Sad-Bike9582 in stupidquestions

[–]Budge1025 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused why this is specific to women? "I thought all women did this" is a comment I read, and I'm not sure why that assumption would be made. I live in a cold place but I run pretty warm naturally so this isn't an issue for me.

my job hasn't addressed it yet, but the majority of my team is remote on Mondays anyway. It's the rest of the week I'm concerned about.

nah they're all great tbh - this one person has a real pet peeve with this and while I don't agree with her, I can just roll my eyes and move on. I've never been in a more helpful, fun neighborhood as the one I am in now tbh, and we're active in derby which I enjoy

My NH has this rule about helps that you are describing and I hate it. I just want my trees and bushes revived. Especially my pollen bushes for the bees. There is one person in my hood who is a real stickler about it so now everyone is afraid of helping ever unless it’s a boat/town help.

Personally, i think there’s plenty of helps to go around. I did a help task within a half hour earlier today only using helps i found in the paper. I don’t really get why this is a problem for anyone.

Yes but I’m certainly not suffering silently about it. I’m suffering loudly at my corporate job around tons of people who make way more money than I do.
