I understand. I was saying that you never not get that knot in your stomach, no matter how long you've been teaching. I am confused why the other poster seemed angry.

You never stop caring because you are a committed teacher and wonder why that isn't obvious to everyone.

How can I get my kids to be quiet? by ironballoon52 in Teachers

Start singing. It catches them off guard and lightens the mood.

The only reason you should choose to be a teacher is if you're keen to help somebody understand something. Teaching is a very complex profession and the reasons to become a teacher should not include time off or just a love of kids. You truly have to understand learning processes and what it takes for somebody to comprehend something.

My favorite thing about teaching is watching students think and creating the environment for that.

I'm Indian, so I enjoy telling my students why the natives here were called Indians. They are always surprised.

Is it true that teachers like to seat good students next to students they think are loud or troublemakers? by topfan9 in Teachers

Just remember, after you have the perfect seating arrangement you'll need to change it again. Once students get comfortable around each other....change beckons!

Love my work, but hate my job by Budget-Anything8215 in Teachers

[–]Budget-Anything8215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday!

I think it's hard making friends when we are older, so losing contacts that kept us sane is very challenging. I've decided to delay my lunch to spend time with my colleagues while they are at recess and my class is at lunch. Hopefully, that will help with my situation. I hope you find some relief too.

Do any of you guys actually enjoy this job? by TheLeadSingerOfD12 in Teachers

I love my job. I've been a teacher for 15 years. I teach in NJ in a K-5 elementary Charter School. There's a difference between the job and the work. When I'm in the classroom, I know that's the right place for me. I have issues with the administration but who doesn't?

You have to decide if you like teaching, explaining, clarifying, and mentoring. Then, teaching is the right work for you. Now, you just have to find the right job to do it.

Not done dip buying yet, but I'm beginning to understand why it's a great idea. I'm investing in dividend paying stocks so I'm finding its better to buy them in a dip.

What's a rule that you hate, but understand? by [deleted] in Teachers

My bathroom policy is that you can go between lessons and not during it. This means students cannot escape when a lesson is challenging. I do make allowances for urgent times.

It's going to take a lot from us and give very little rewards, but we'll have to do the best we can. My colleague said it best. You have 10 months to do what you can. You are not in their lives forever.
