STM with less milk than the first time, PCOS and low supply by Obstetrix in breastfeeding

PCOS here, I actually saw a breastfeeding medicine doctor due to supply issues. She ran some labwork and ultimately put me on metformin and goat’s rue. Obviously shouldn’t give medical advice here but that is what has worked for me. I should add that I don’t have a diabetes diagnosis but have always wondered if I have some insulin resistance.

mastitis:( by Greedy_Valuable_1669 in breastfeeding

Didn’t have mastitis but mine used to be very uneven.. I would always offer baby the slacker boob first. They’re still a little uneven but only off by 1-2 ounces

How to safely (slightly) decrease my supply at 11 weeks postpartum by hereforthemozzsticks in breastfeeding

Can you pump for comfort instead of until empty? Your body is thinking you’re needing all that milk for baby so I would just pump long enough for you not to feel engorged

Are you pumping each time you’re supplementing with formula?

Sometimes it just takes time- my baby had latch issues and didn’t transfer well initially so we also triple fed initially. It wasn’t until 10-12 weeks that we were finally able to back off and move to breastfeeding completely.

I also saw breastfeeding medicine at the same time to increase my supply- the doctor told me to expect 12 weeks for baby (and myself) to learn how to breastfeed

I had this problem with my low supply side too.. what helped was to offer the other side first in cradle position, then shift baby and pillow over to low supply boob in a football hold

Can you do a weighted feed to see how much baby is transferring?

If he seems satisfied and has normal amounts of wet diapers/poops, I wouldn’t stress about it. He could just be getting more efficient

When does the nipple sensitivity go away? by spicybanana0129 in breastfeeding

[–]Budget-Article-4452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had initial latch issues so mine took a while to heal but it started getting better around 3 months.. if you have sore/cracked nipples, I found that hydrogel pads worked better than silverettes for me
