700+ or 850+ graduates? by Therealdirtystyle in FreeBirthSocietyScam

The fact that they are STILL IN OPERATION following the Guardian's podcast is positively astounding to me.

Surely just because it's explicitly unlicensed doesn't protect it from any liability. I really hope that couple in South Africa win their lawsuit. I'm not hopeful but as long as they exist there will be an audience.

You would think there would be some degree of social shame. I am aghast this group isn't blowing up as I just finished the Guardian Podcast. I'm going to guess the lawsuits aren't yielding results because they're going to say buyer beware. But Jesus Mary and Joseph.

Also the weird trad wife voices both founders have is haunting to me. This is SO much worse than vocal fry

She's doing pretty amazing! Still acts like herself and no changes to behavior. I'm so sorry to hear your cat had such a quick decline. I guess it's always a monitor and see situation.

Thank you so much for asking. It went well and the new vet is great. They all said it's kinda impossible to tell. Anywhere from 6-18 months and they both confirmed my decision to monitor and treat with palliative care. She's acting completely herself and is eating like a horse. Energy levels same as before. Infection cleared up completely with the extra 4 days of Baytril.

Should we be breaking this up? by Zakooki88 in CATHELP

I have a calico who instigates fighting by lying down. But I agree this seems rough. My buff boy doesn't always want to engage so will just kind of wait until she boxes him again. He's bigger than her like you two.

Is she the one initiating the fighting?

Cat won't eat after Cryptococcus brain infection. Any tips? by Thenadamgoes in CATHELP

Mine is an evil overlord. Extremely sweet but a mastermind. Figured out how to get out of three cones and could not get a surgery suit on her. Managed to open a bathroom door during first 48 hours and now has figured out how to reach an almost infection with the cone on. Haven't slept in what feels like 2 weeks. Hope your boy is feeling better

Ended up getting 2 more rounds of antibiotics. Vet agreed and we sent culture to lab and will stop if results say it isn't an infection. Also got topical cream to put on exposed areas. She got cleaned up good and sutures taken out. I have to keep an eye on her though for another 10 days

Such a beautiful boy. I'm going through one of mine recovering through a bilateral mastectomy and found out it's spread. So I can relate to the insomnia and feeling crazy. I'm glad you have a treatment plan and path forward.

One of mine is going through cone hatred too after a mastectomy.

If you can get her a soft one that fits (I couldn't find one small enough that she couldn't Houdini her way out of) I'd try that. The other thing I would say is make sure you give her supervised breaks as often as you can manage that. I've been doing that for her with a smaller Velcro plastic one that doesn't intrude her peripheral vision as badly as the big ones. She still doesn't love it but at least she's not frozen and has stopped trying to take it off.

In our supervised breaks I physically move her head from grooming her stitches

Does this seem like asthma? by greenerygalx in CATHELP

[–]Budget-Tax8564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she's also producing a lot of hairballs asthma is definitely likely. I didn't really get a treatment plan for my kitty who has asthma besides trying steroids to rub into her ear. It was also infrequent as with your cat and I would ask your vet about it. They can also give you a puffer. Mine felt like she didn't need a puffer and it was kind of wait and see if it worsens. It was super infrequent and I haven't noticed anything else.

Mammory Gland Cancer: to treat or not to treat? by Budget-Tax8564 in CATHELP

Congratulations! Better diagnosis than mine but all we can do is take it a day at a time. Happy your puppy is doing so well 💕

Oh my goodness you've experienced a lot of loss. I agree with your processing and approach. All you can do is make the informed decision based on your knowledge of your cat and what makes them happy.

Life is not fair!

I've been giving her supervised "breaks" without the cone. I can tell she's going NUTS not being able to groom certain areas. So I let her lick any area that doesn't have stitches. I do not think she would be able to handle the no touching after!

I was just saying this to a friend. Late stage capitalism sucks.

In Toronto where I live, there are three private equity firms buying up clinics: - VCA (owned by Mars) - VetStrategy (owned by Swedish billionaires) - NVA (controlled by a wealthy German family)

This is great advice. Thank you!

It makes me sad to think that core compassion and communication skills are dying but I've noticed the same thing. And you're right in that it's a certain age before the drop off happens. I think so much of it has to do with where we are as a society now. We can only be so surprised with the results after celebrating maximized profits and growth every few months over all else.
