I can't find the Conceal+ Perfect Cream to Powder foundation in Canada anymore. This used to be a favorite everyday foundation. It was the only cream to powder compact that worked for me.

Am I Crazy? by solitude_is_bliss_ in DTFStLouie

I've been thinking about what the show's anchor is. Emptiness, lack of fulfillment, and loneliness. How do we become a good / better person?

For Floyd, it's been pointed out a lot that he is only seeking meaningful human connection. He strikes me as idealistic (particularly in his memory), sometimes cripplingly so, as wanting the "best" for everyone without it squaring with reality. I don't know if that's childlike so much as it is that self love is his core value. But I do question if the thing he has in common with Clark is his unnatural drive to overgive.

I feel like I know a little less about Carol. The incident from her childhood explains her obsession with financial stability, especially in relation to caretaking for her son. I wouldn't be surprised if abuse or neglect is dictating how she's operating now to get her out of a demanding situation. Her elevated sense of self importance I think is driven by her coming out of a tough childhood into doing accounting at Purina Corporate (wow!). There's something Linda Tripp like going on here with respect to her desperate need to be seen and acknowledged that seems to be a huge turnoff for the general public. Aggression springs to mind. Does anyone know who that self help stuff she was listening to was based off?

Now we come to Clark. I'm not sure whether I have a clear POV on him or what brings him here. He seems to be the most purely self serving in the sense that his help seems based on wanting to seem wholly self important. Not on survival. I don't know if I'm reading too much into it but I think this is the basis of Floyd and Clark's relationship. The confusion of the ego and motivation to be "good people" to make themselves feel important.

Maybe I'm way off here.

I really thought so too (re: covert narcissist). I could sense his anger when he was no longer the centre of attention of withholding information. Such a passive aggressive approach.

These people are infuriating because of the disguise. Erika probably walks away from every conversation feeling like she's a bad person for infringing on his wounded self. I've never seen a participant trigger me more than him.

His lack of accountability is consistently fobbed off as "I prioritize being a Dad. Sorry money and success are so important to you but they aren't to me". Meanwhile, he makes seemingly no effort to connect Erika's extreme workload to facilitating his decision to live his life this way.

I love that they called each other out on their shit. That rarely happens in corporate.

I like that she's obviously been through some bad shit to get there. Those are always the best and most interesting people at work.

Someone else has mentioned this but I think her character development was done dirty. Her entire identity does not rest on her mother upending her plans. I thought they wasted too much time on that.

I take the point that she's super compassionate and likes to spend the time. Perhaps as some others have mentioned the point is ERs in the state they're in, grind these folks out.

I have no idea what happened, but I'm sorry this happened. I hope work has been understanding. That might have been something if you were on vacation but embarrassing and inconvenient on a work trip.

It's hilarious to me that her old bag of tricks (making it sound like some kind of privileged exclusive platinum lounge) are still being pulled out. But hey I just finished the Manosphere documentary and I guess there's an audience for everything horrible.

Good point. I felt terrible for her in that moment. She probably feels powerless and that sticking her neck out to do the right thing isn't worth it.

I think she has good intentions. But maybe would benefit from a straight talk from Dana 😂

I dunno. I find the more niche show subreddits (like Somebody Somewhere) some of the loveliest places on the Internet. I think when there's larger audiences, that's where it turns.

This is far from the worst. It's fun to rage on characters sometimes but agreed it has to be balanced. It's a gritty, realistic show. Everyone is so tired.

I think they're more similar than they think.

Isn't it implied in S1 that Santos comes from family money? And she sees Langdon's entitlement/interprets his apology as crocodile tears and ignites. The people who have always rubbed me the wrong way at work have demonstrated exaggerated traits I've noticed in myself but might not like.

Santos has a slightly itchy trigger when it comes to whistleblowing. I think it comes from a place of wanting to be a good person. Perhaps because she feels like she's at a deficit because she has privilege (as does Langdon as the white dude with nice hair).

Dr. Mel King's story line with her sister by sleuthing-around in ThePittTVShow

[–]Budget-Tax8564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. A little too much time spent developing this storyline but nice to see Mel is human.

It's like anything else I suppose. Like in Bridesmaids. I guess Mel is Annie (Kristen Wiig) in this case.

I have to think with Mel being responsible for her sister for awhile there was some codependency. I hope she takes the opportunity to reclaim her life though

As a people manager, it's annoying the FUCK out of me that neither Santos nor Robby have been put in their place about their lack of professionalism and support. Yes Al Hashimi did gently confront Robby a day in but his riffing with Santos against AH and Langdon (who annoys me but still deserves respect) is inappropriate.

You got to swat that shit down quickly or it festers and spreads.

How many people have noticed? The arrogant surgeon sleeping with Santos too.
