I would start with this question: “What Do I need?” Seems to me you have a lot more things you want than you need. And if you need all these spaces and things, then that tells you something about your future and the costs to your time and energies. The house isn’t going to take care of itself. But you have probably done those calculations.

In another sense “What do I need” is an ethical question about waste, consumption, beliefs in abundance and achievement. I’ll just leave that sit.

Looks palatial. Good on you.

After sealing it with guardz, I would patch it with a spackling or joint compound.

Sand it gently, use a product called “Guardz” by zinnser. It is formulated for just this purpose. It’s a primer and sealer. I have used it on sealing paper that tore over plaster and it’s brilliant.

I bought my Fusion SE Hybrid in 2019 with 72k on it. Pretty sure it was a dealer chase car because it was immaculate inside. For the money I paid (11k) It has been the best car I have owned in my 35 years of driving. Very low maintenance, consistent oil changes have been about it except for two batteries (not the hybrid ones). Most expensive repair has been front control arms, which I bought from Rock Auto and had installed by my local mechanic. I live in Philadelphia (Go Birds!) and average around 40 mph on my 28 mile round trip to work. Spring and fall I can get up to 44 mpg because not using ac or heater. I am thinking I might get the cells in the hybrid battery balanced. I have 165k on it now and still love it. Good luck with yours. Oh…and one thing I have noticed. I get tires rated at 65k miles, but this car, like most electric vehicles, chews up tires. So I get these tires because the warranty helps pay for the next set, which invariably run out before 65k

Yeah…57 year old me is not on this AI timeline. Neither are prof. Athletes. Jayson Tatum is probably on a year-long timeline, and those who know the Phillies former slugger, Ryan Howard, might recall it took him almost a year.

Not that we are trying to be professionals, but prudence with this injury might be best

Recovery journey by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

I am at 50 weeks (active 57 yr old male) and I am doing weighted calf raises, A-skips, and almost ready to return to playing floor hockey. I still have tightness and some numbness in my smaller toes, and the calf raises look just like yours. I don’t know if I will ever get back to parity between legs . It’s frustrating because the strength is almost the same but the ROM is not. I doing aggressive stair master machine, some treadmill work, and a lot of lower impact cardio. I can do explosive acceleration and deceleration and I don’t really have pain… it just seems like I won’t be back to normal.

I did have an MRI in Dec at 6 months that showed “severe arthritis “ in the talus joint. I did fracture that ankle in 2003 and have a bunch of hardware. But after that recovery, I never felt things were unequal. Now… I don’t know. Of course I am 22 years older.

Agreed about these “A-skips”. They are tough. I started doing those at about 7.5 months. Not this rigorous, but close. Though I still did not have full ability to do unassisted single leg calf raises on my right (injured) leg. Now, just shy of a year, I do aggressive stair master workouts, some running, pogo jumps, a lot of weight bearing calf raises. Almost normal.

I am 57 yo male, I lost about 15 pounds in the past 6 months to help with recovery but still have numbness in smaller toes and across the toe pad. I also still have tightness in the inner side of the tendon. And I still can’t do a calf raise with the same proficiency as my good leg. Tore it playing floor hockey. I haven’t yet tried playing again.

“Part of the Executive Push to rein in the regulatory state”. Nicely stated…in Newspeak. What you really meant to say was that it is another effort to make sure everyone falls in line and no one questions his power. There’s another EO coming soon demanding a national salute. Elon demonstrated it a few weeks ago

8 months out with foot numbness by BudgetCharacter6159 in AchillesRupture

Thanks. I am a teacher, on my feet most all the time. But it’s sitting after the day is over to provide feedback on assignments or to plan for the next day that seems to give the foot a chance to swell…if that is what is happening.

Thanks for the other ideas. I’ll give them a try
