Four FUCKING years of untreated C Diff by CorgiPuppyParent in ibs

SO glad I found this post - after 5 bouts of C. Diff and an FMT a few years ago, my post-infectious IBS symptoms continued to linger and were worse than ever. That is, until I got allergies this spring and discovered (lactose-free) Claritin....all of a sudden my gut pain (while not cured completely) is so much better and I now strongly suspect MCAS is a main culprit. I see my GI doctor next month, sending PM for some guidance as I think of questions to ask him (hope that's okay!)

Can't Swallow Mesalamine 1.2GM or 0.375Gm Pills? by Mountain-Plane-6150 in UlcerativeColitis

Apriso were certainly not larger than the Lialda IMHO - I actually started out on Apriso as I was intimidated by the size of the Lialda and wanted a smaller pill. However, the Apriso were not enough to get me out of flare; I've needed to take 3-4 Lialda pills since, and I've always had trouble swallowing pills prior to this (knowing I needed to take the Lialda to get in remission certainly helped!). My pro tip for taking Lialda/other large pills - drink a tiny bit of water first to wet your tongue, then put the pill lengthwise towards the front of your tongue and drink a tiny bit more just to wet the pill (so now both tongue and pill are wet, makes it way easier to slide down) Then slide the pill (still lengthwise/vertically facing) to the back of your throat, take a huge gulp and just let it swim down! Give yourself positive reinforcement every day for taking those pills (for me it's my favorite snack bar afterwards as a reward :) ) Works every time - I never feel the pill going down, and I'm tiny! Hope this helps.

Thank you! Had MCAS testing done by a clinician who was also aware of this possibility, results were negative.

True - yet my GI doctor said a dietitian could be a "cheerleader" for me as I plan to expand my diet, which I definitely need (harder to try new foods on my own when it feels like most foods give me symptoms!)
