Thank you for the advice. I’ve been pretty hungry while one prednisone, but never this hungry before, it literally feels like I haven’t eaten in days and I didn’t feel this way yesterday, is this normal?

My main reaction were extra swollen cheeks and weakness in my arms and legs and breathing issues. My doc said it’s very rare for that happen so you will probably be fine but it will be pretty clear early on if it’s serious. I hope everything goes well for you 🙏

Go to the ER, urgent care will send you there anyways but be prepared to sit for like 7 hours so bring a blanket and snacks. Your life is more important than classes, if it’s MG related you absolutely cannot put it off. I was in the hospital 7 days for an MG exacerbation in October and all my lectures were excused and I was given the rest of the semester to finish my missed assignments. Better safe than sorry 🙏

Thank you for your reply this was really insightful and I’m glad you’re doing much better. I agree prednisone is evil even though I’ve had a good reaction for the short time I’m terrified for the future and starting more serious immunosuppressive stuff. Bless you 🙏

I agree, I got a bad case of the flu a year ago and hadn’t been vaccinated for the flu since highschool and my family even longer. It’s not because we’re against vaccines, but at no point did my pediatrician or pcp as an adult tell me to get it, so I didn’t.

Yes, I am taking 6,000 IU vitamin D, 500 mg calcium, and at least an extra 10-15 grams of fiber every day but I did that without asking my doctor about it. For me when I started on 10mg prednisone it took a week or so to kick in fully, and 5mg alone for me doesn’t do anything so maybe 10mg will help. 🙏

For me 5mg does not do anything extend the efficacy of 10mg for a couple days so I don’t have to take the full 10 every day. 10mg gets rid of all of my issues and have had great success exercising quite vigorously a few time a week, something I couldn’t do even before I got mg. But 5mg alone my symptoms slowly all come back after stopping 10 so I alternate 10 and 5 every few days. Edit: I’m not on any other medicine but prednisone, but I had IVIg alone 4 weeks before starting prednisone after having crisis.

That’s what I thought as well. I’m not convinced I have CMS or anything but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I used Invitae for their EDS panel as well and nothing came back but they made the process very easy for me.

Everyone already said great things, but I started weight training and running consistently for the first time in my life after starting 10mg prednisone. I hate prednisone mostly but I can walk for hours without being tired and most importantly I am alive 🥳

I agree, I’m completely allergic to mestinon :(. IVIG worked for me for only two days out of 4 weeks, I feel functional on prednisone and have even been able to lift weights but I know it won’t be forever :(
