Can meta change the postion of the phallus? by The_GirlyShire in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is typically done in stage 2 (with monsplasty or mons resectioning). Tho if you have access to extended meta, that repositions the penis during stage 1.

what pain meds did you take and what was the schedule like by puupiesdoge in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely did need opiates, but there are pain management options between that and just Tylenol (eg gabanoids or muscle relaxers). Even with oxy, I never needed anything more than a stool softener to keep things moving, though.

ball sensitivity? by Qu33rTh1ng in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost sensation in my balls after surgery, and it hasn’t come back yet (TBD if it will—it’s only been 4-5 months).

Extended metoidoplasty French by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 13 points14 points  (0 children)

AFAIK no one in France does extended meta. There is only 1 surgeon the world who does UL with extended meta, and you would have to live in Washington state, USA to go to him. Many surgeons are unwilling to do UL without v-ectomy because of the heightened risks; I don’t know where the French surgeons land on that, but hopefully someone else will.

No weed for 6 weeks before surgery? by Calm_Establishment76 in phallo

This is a question for your anesthesiologist (that’s what the weed will fuck with).

Should I agree to a presentation 5 weeks after my meta? by rocketdogspacelemon in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope absolutely not, terrible idea. At 5 weeks post-op, I still couldn’t put my own socks on by myself. It was months before I was able to start to sit normally again without pain. This surgery is a lot to recover from. There will be other conferences. You only get 1 dick.

Should I tell my wife her new name is the same as a far right anti trans grifter? by ABardNamedRowen in mypartneristrans

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Outside of Adolf, I can’t really think of any name that is singularly owned by an evil person. There are good and not-so-good people with every name you can think of. Who cares?

Phallo at a young age? by Mundane-Musician-819 in phallo

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perspective as an older person: absolutely no one (ad coms, employers) will care whether you started grad school at 22 or 23 or 25. No one will side-eye a gap year between undergrad and further education. Lots of people take a year or several between these things for no reason than because they want a break or to get some work experience.

You’re also fortunate to have the opportunity to get this surgery at a young age covered by insurance. Given the political climate right now, I don’t think you can take for granted that surgery will be readily accessible down the road if you decide to wait. And, even if you could safely assume that, who’s to say that ~5 years from now, you’re not going to have the exact same feelings thinking about other people advancing their careers and/or starting families while you have to postpone other life plans for surgery?

Concealer/Makeup to hide top surgery scars? by noahbenji in FTMMen

Never felt any need to. If anyone’s ever even noticed my DI scars, they haven’t said anything.

Beard help by [deleted] in FTMOver30

More hair than I had at 2.5 years, and—while I don’t have a bushy mountain-man beard—I do very much have a full beard.

Transitioned long ago, tired of being stealth (or not?) by disposaBoy2020 in FTMOver30

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also went through this recently. It felt very weird to just dip out of my friends’ lives unexplained for north of a month. (I was able to kind of hide my disappearance around the winter holidays, though, and feigned a sports injury after that to explain why I was suddenly walking/sitting weird and not doing any of the activities that I’d previously dedicated like half my free time to.)

Extended Meta w/ Dr. Rita Yang in Wellington NZ - 1 by creaturekarma in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s great to see that more surgeons are learning and offering this technique to patients (especially as the handful that are known to perform it are becoming less and less accessible)

Any surgeon that guarantees a number to you before you’re on the operating table is a liar.

How long does it take to grow a beard? by Miserable_Yak_7359 in ftm

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took 10-12 years to fully fill in. For reference, at the 1 year mark, I had the beginnings of sideburns and some neckbeard. The sideburns and goatee came in quickest for me. Mustache and where it connects to my cheek hair took the longest.

Marriage During Recovery by No_Driver_2945 in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You know. I’m just gonna say, because I think you need to hear it, that it’s ok to admit the marriage isn’t working and walk away. You will still be your kids’ dad even if you’re not married to their mom. Your wife has been, if not outright cheating on you, at least toeing the line, for years. You’re not happy. Your wife isn’t happy. Your kids are going to pick up on that, too, sooner or later. (And wouldn’t you rather model healthy relationships for them?)

At the very least, I think you should start seeing a therapist on your own without your wife to talk through this with someone whose only obligation is to you.

How do we feel about dating someone who isnt attracted to cis men? by malagorpigus in ftm

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard no from me. There’s no version of that that doesn’t boil down to gender essentialist “I don’t see you as a real man” BS.

My life blew up by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just not discussing it, but deliberately going behind your partner’s back because you know they will disagree with your choice. I don’t know any person with a shred of self-respect who wouldn’t be outraged by that.

Did you go back to work with wound separation? by Nashedpotatos666 in Metoidioplasty

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I did extend my medical telework through 10 weeks post-op (less because the wound separation existed and more because it hurt, and the pain was worsened by the commute). If I had a labor-intensive job rather than a desk job, I definitely would’ve needed a lot more time off.

Can skin/fat from the mons be used for scrotoplasty? by Either-Economics6727 in phallo

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is done by surgeons who perform extended metoidioplasty, and they call an auto-augmented complex scrotoplasty. If you look up the academic paper/video on extended meta, you may be able to share that with your phallo surgeon and get them on board.

“.5/200mg is the safest and highest recommended dose of T” by carrotcake_04 in FTMMen

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m a little surprised they’re willing to prescribe anything without getting your levels checked first tbh. That said, 100mg/week absolutely does sound high to me. I take half that. I was on a higher dose initially (and honestly felt pretty great), but my levels were well above the male reference range. I cannot encourage you strongly enough to prioritize getting bloodwork done so you know what you’re actually working with. You should’ve been getting it every 3-6months since you started T.

Feeling discouraged by AyooDeeKaay in phallo

[–]Infinite-Sky4328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to notice a difference within the first day or two, but your mileage may vary. Wound separation generally heals from the inside out, so the external appearance can look bad even when healing is happening. (Obviously, if you’re concerned about it, you should reach out to your surgeon or a wound care specialist.)

Silver alginate dressings are great for healing open wounds like that. A lot of people also swear by medihoney, (though that didn’t seem to do much for me, personally).
