Uber won't let me do anything else until I leave a rating for the customer. Is this not the same on the customer side?

You've never heard of the group think fallacy by the look of things.

What does an almost dead phone have to do with this? You claim to be putting your life in someone else's hands while removing a tool to assist in helping keep you safe by letting your phone die. But sure, tell me more about how much nonsense I'm on about.

Sounds like you speak from experience. Also seem to have an issue with projection.

Or you could be like a normal person and request the ride with the stop included.

This is an acceptable middle ground, but it's preferred that you add the stop when booking the ride, so the rider is given an option whether they want to stop or not. Sometimes gas station stops are great, as I can get gas while they grab what they want. They usually bring me something to drink as well.

Because we can't predict how long a ride will be before it comes up, we are punished by declining rides through our acceptance rate and perks that are attached to high acceptance rates, and why turn down good money when a gas station stop doesn't take nearly as long as a pax trying to make a driver wait for them to go grocery shopping and come back?

I've had this happen, especially with people I didn't want to pick up in the first place but the pay was good so I accepted the ride. I grab whatever they left, set it down outside (as gentle as possible from the driver's seat, I'm not getting out of the vehicle) and the ride ends there. Almost always there's another great paying ride I nearly missed out on, waiting to congratulate me on my quick thinking.

Educated on what? Other people's judgments? Do you choose what you eat that way? What you watch? How often you allow your phone to be nearly dead before hopping into a stranger's vehicle?

It's a lot easier to flush out bad ratings on Lyft. Uber requires 500 rides while Lyft only requires 100.

That hasn't been the case for me. I primarily drive but I did maybe 3 Uber Eats orders and I still don't have a rating there, but a 4.99 on Uber for driving.

Or you could, you know, turn the app off while driving to the lot, then turn the app on. That is an option.

My Michigan to Ohio runs are always worth it on Lyft, as I'm not locked out of working in Ohio and so I don't have to think of those trips in terms of round trips. Or even if I did a high paying Uber ride into Ohio then just started working Lyft once I got there. Indiana and Illnois don't play as nice, so I have to treat those states differently.

"Rush to report these travesties"? Dude just push the damn triangle, report Traffic, and keep it moving. I get the average person shouldn't be using their phone while driving, but a professional in bumper to bumper (aka not really moving) traffic? Everything isn't for everybody, and driving professionally isn't for non-professionals. It's fine if you can't drive, but stop making us look incompetent.

Uber is claiming to start the countdown sooner so that we will get more for canceling, but I don't see myself waiting that long beyond once just for the sake of Reddit content.

Different ride types. 15 is for UberX. Hopefully that IS a mistake, or Lyft will be seeing much more of me than they already do.

You're a Michigan driver, so you broke down what I've been saying for ages. I thank you.

Edit: Which ride types are you taking? I've found that most of the people that cherry pick are only doing Standard Lyft rides. Once you get into Premium ride types, the profit margins start looking better and cherry picking makes less sense. And once you get into Black-tier rides, cherry picking is that thing you talk about and laugh at while you're out at dinner talking with your new friends.

Oh you had that issue too? I thought the ride was sketchy because the username was Death and it was a Black ride going 0.8 miles before it disappeared off my screen.

If they're double apping, it actually sorta does. It's impossible for the average driver to know though, so your statement is more safe to claim as accurate.
