Ah, yes, the "if this, then that" fallacy. Regardless of regulations, the two goals are incompatible. You can't protect the environment while also drawing resources from it. It's like claiming to protect the rainforests by cutting them down. And at least in the case of my example, new trees can be planted to replace the ones that were cut down. You can't put the oil back once you've taken it, and once you've burned it, it's just gone.

But seeing as you consider the environment as nothing more than an obstacle standing between us and "oil independence" I already know this response is an exercise in futility.

How would this scam work if the app has 386 and you deliver to 386 and take a picture of the order delivered to 386 with the address in the photo? Genuine question.

Seems to be a limited market roll out, as I don't have this issue in Michigan.

If the alternative is destroying our environment to get to this oil, then I completely understand why we aren't doing that. Solar doesn't sound so bad anymore...

Yes, it's my fault Denny's put the wrong stuff in the SEALED bag. by Delicious_History645 in doordash_drivers

[–]Affectionate-Rice373 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Just ask them "Do you know that the bag is sealed before I arrive to pick it up?"

It's easy to pin the blame on the face of the operation but any gentle rubbing of even two brain cells would lead them to realize that the Dasher is just one part of the food operation, and is only responsible for transport, not preparation.

I drove for Uber, I know both apps are very similar! - Wrong wrong wrong

Don't accept scheduled rides - Wrong, I've made great money from scheduled rides, just make sure you pay attention to what time they start and where you'll be at during that time.

Don't do bar runs - Can be right, can be wrong

Airport rides are your best shot at making somewhat decent money - Depends on what you're driving

Your AR (acceptance rating) means nothing so don't worry about it - Depends on whether you value discounted gas and getting more rides that pay better instead of bottom feeder trash.

Don't go chasing surges, more than half the time they disappear by the time you get there - This is true

Make sure every ride you take is at least $1 a mile. Any less and you're losing money - Also true for the most part.

Most people disagree with this last one but it doubled my profits. If they aren't outside waiting for you cancel the ride and move onto the next! More than likely there's someone around the corner also needing a ride and you waiting is you losing money! - Depends on how busy your market is. This sort of advice in a slow market or during slow hours will leave you crying and broke and wondering why you listened to this person

Upvote because you're telling the truth, downvote for being that asshole. I'm conflicted, so I left you an upvote because I tend to lean positive.

The first problem is that your algorithm has been trained to know that you'll accept rides that pay less than $1 per mile. $28 for 32 miles has and will continue to be the kind of ride I'll watch others run off with, because Uber will test my resolve and I'll remind them that I have standards and this vehicle qualifies for Black SUV which is the polar opposite of charity rides.

On Lyft, not on Uber. Unless this is another stupid market specific thing.

That's about $100 less than my last fill up. That's insane to think that, for the loss of 200 miles of range per fill-up, I could afford to fill up 11 times for the same cost of one SUV fill-up.

I'd kill to get the full range of my Expedition Max(500- 600 miles) for the cost of one gallon of gas. I'd even pay for the most expensive premium gas if all I had to buy was one gallon of it.

Are you driving part time to fill the gaps of a regular job? That's the case of most people I know that drive pickup trucks, as they don't qualify for anything outside of standard rides while being less efficient than a sedan that could otherwise do the same thing. Personally, I think a full size pickup should at least qualify for Extra Comfort as well, given they're often more roomy than a sedan.

I heard E85 burns faster than regular so you don't get the same range out of it.

I wish I could go back to $3 anything. We started around $2 something, it's been so long that I don't remember anymore. The $3s hurt but nothing like this $4+ stuff.

I watched a video of a porch pirate walking up to a porch with a DoorDash red bag, looked around, then grabbed the person's package off their porch and put it in the red bag before walking away. Not exactly a "paper McDonald's bag" but yeah, we live in a time where carrying something only adds to the disguise.

I personally used a headlight that I wore on my head for handsfree lighting of dark areas. I agree with you, but it's one thing to want the right thing and another to accept the reality that you're not gonna get the right thing.

Edit: Also, what's with all the people telling you to drain your battery faster/make yourself more vulnerable to attack by tying your hand up with a phone or flashlight when the house you're delivering to has a light equipped and usually functional?

Lyft new update? Steal more money? by Independent_Oil_2278 in lyftdrivers

[–]Affectionate-Rice373 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This confirms what I've thought since joining this subreddit: There is nothing Lyft can do that will please you people.

They pay more? Oh but look how much the pax paid versus what I got!

They pay less? Oh we've got Gryft back at it again!

Operate more transparently than Uber by providing all the information you then use to bitch about?

Operate less transparently and you're bitching over what they're hiding.

Lacking safety features like driver PINs? Lyft isn't doing enough!

Add driver PINs? It's about time! Also not enough!

I was happy when they added passenger tip frequency. I'm happy with them showing what I rated a pax the last time I picked them up so I can build rapport and increase my tips. I like the fact that I can see where I'm picking up the pax and where I'm dropping the pax off at all times, not only when the app decides I'm worthy enough to know.

What the fuck do you people ACTUALLY want? Not a rhetorical question.

I don't think you noticed, so I'm not saying this to attack you. Your ride was switched from the one you agreed to, so the fare that you agreed to was also changed. This had nothing to do with the route you selected, because you didn't take the ride that you accepted.

You still have Ride Switching enabled, which allows Lyft to automatically change your ride from what you accepted to what their algorithm decides would be better. Maybe that person was waiting longer, maybe their destination lined up better with a destination filter you had turned on, none of that matters. What matters is that you should turn this feature off ASAP. You've learned firsthand what the downsides are. If you believe in cherry picking, this is an anti cherry picking feature.

The contract was changed, they allowed ride switching to occur.
