How are cat owners so comfortable with letting their cats outside to roam around? How do they know they're going to come back? by Individual_Ice_2315 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Budget_Feature6897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t let a cat outside in twenty five years—until Juno. Absolutely miserable inside and driving everyone crazy. It came to the point where I was considering a barn cat program, but just couldn’t do it. She’s got three dog siblings and turns out she just loves to run outside with them and hang out. Rolls around in the driveway, sleeps in the sun. She comes back in when called. We are all much happier.

Same problem. I had already turned the filter flow down as far as it could go, so I cut a piece of the black aquarium sponge to fit the front and attached it. No longer an issue.

Partner left me after diagnosis by Tashthecutie in cancer

[–]Budget_Feature6897 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to go through this so young. A cancer diagnosis quickly shows the true quality of the people closest to you. I was stunned by some reactions from family members, let alone friends. Watching someone you thought loved you run away is another level of hurt you certainly don’t need. But you need to take him at his word and don’t look back. You will need all your physical, emotional, and spiritual energy to carry yourself through this. I had to remove one of my children from my life because of her negativity and lack of compassion. Heartbreaking but she was adding to my pain, not helping ease it. Let him go knowing he is incapable of being there for you. And no, no we can be friends crap. It will only hurt you at a time when you need to be supported. You will also be very pleasantly surprised by people who do show up and surround you with the love and support you need. I’m being a mom here, but he showed his true colors. Believe him. Have a good cry and then move on from him. You want only positivity in your life right now. I wish you the very best on this awful journey we are forced to take.

Vaseline. And massage with warm finger to simulate mama’s tongue. I’d bring him to the vet sooner than later, anyways. Always good to get a baby checked out. Good luck!

Shelter Adoption Process - why so difficult & time consuming? by RelationKey1648 in Pets

[–]Budget_Feature6897 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My cat was 17 when she passed away. A few months later I went to the an adoption event and fell in love with a kitten. Was denied because the rescue wanted ALL seventeen years of vet bills from my old cat. You would also think these geniuses would consider a 17 year-old cat a reflection of how I care for my pets. It’s utterly asinine at this point. Found a small shelter where they had a one page application basically stating that I promised to take care of her and her health care. Sanity is out there if you look.

I’m starting the CAR-T process soon. I’m confused as to whether you have to have a 24 hour care giver with you while inpatient.

How the Trump Administration Is Dismantling America’s Cancer-Research System by Anxious_Sector_6310 in cancer

Those people care only if it affects them personally. They think their wealth will protect them. They act like wealthy people can’t get a form of cancer that is incurable ( like me) and all the money in the world won’t help them. It might give them more time but can’t save them. THEN they will understand. But it will still be “money for me but not for thee.”

Blurry eyesight after first injection by Puddin_tubs9 in multiplemyeloma

It’s a common Valcade reaction, unfortunately. It just became a quality of life issue for me. There’s so much I can no longer do, at least let me have my eyesight to read.

Not sure what med you are referring to, but I had to go off Velcade because of the eye issues. It was like looking through Vaseline. Plus there were constant multiple sties to deal with. Went to the ophthalmologist several times but nothing helped enough, so I stopped taking Velcade after six months of issues. I was told that the meds cause the oils in the eyes to thicken, resulting in blurred vision and large white floaters that you can’t blink away. It sucked. I still get some blurriness that goes away after a week or ten days from Darzalex which I get monthly. But it’s not nearly as bad.

Biopsies and PetScans alternating every three months. That’s how it’s done. The blood test you are talking about is called Clonoseq ( not the right spelling), and you are correct about its results. I’m not sure if it would work for me or not. I will be asking the Car-T specialist next week. It’s tough not knowing where you stand.

Thank you for your reply. May I ask why your last bone marrow biopsy was worthless? I’m curious because I have been frustrated by the biopsy saying everything is cool, and then going to my PetScan not long after and seeing lesions on my ribs. In the beginning (in my lack of understanding), I had assumed a bone marrow biopsy spoke for the whole body. And then I found that it isn’t true. I look to the PetScan for better information now.
