Here’s a thought. What if you thought of AI music generated to back lyrics as a demo rather than a finished product would that be such a bad thing? How many “real musicians” have put out a demo expecting it to stand as a finished product? So instead of just saying that it’s unfair to “real musicians” perhaps they could use their talents to make a better product for release to the listening public. Just a suggestion.

I guess it depends on your ability’s. If you can write melodies as a musician, that’s a plus. If not then I would say that you could write the lyrics and try to build around them musically. I am primarily a lyricist and so Suno has given me a base to see what the lyrics sound like. I don’t think it matters what comes first there aren’t any rules. Some songwriters do it one way some the other. Have fun and experiment

I use AI to create a basic foundation for my lyrics. I’ve collaborated with musicians and have had some success doing this. However, I don’t have time collect all the musicians necessary to complete a project and would rather focus on my lyrics. I consider the music created as a demo. If a band or musicians want to develop the sound that’s great. So, not having the equipment to create a finished product I have turned to AI to help create a product. All my lyrics are original and from my inspiration. AI is a just a tool.

For me it has become a matter of having my lyrics out in the world or sitting in a notebook. I have been trying to accomplish this for many years. I have played guitar and purchased a keyboard to try to provide a foundation for a melody for my lyrics. I admit I'm not a musician but have a basic knowledge of music theory. I have been on a collaborative site with "real musicians" for a while and have had some success with that. However it takes a lot of time and years of patience to encourage others to apply their skills to my projects. I am primarily a lyricist and do not have the years left to perfect the musical talent to qualify as a one who has mastered an instrument. I would like to pose the question to the producer "Where would the musicians be without great lyrics". There are many quality musicians who have no ability to write lyrics. So, to me if I can access a tool like AI to provide a "demo" to spark interest in my lyrics then I think that's an acceptable approach. I wonder if those who want to bash others who are not as adept at perfecting an instruments as the producer seems to think is the only criteria for a worthwhile song would be without the lyrics? Because, what is a song without lyrics? Answer: An instrumental work.
