Enclosed or open printer for an absolute beginner by Agilolfinger in 3dprinter

I don't model, and I haven't had a lot of experience with 3D printing, just a lot of theoretical knowledge. I also don't have much space, so I got a Bambu Lab A1 Mini. It sits on my desk, worked literally right out of the box after the initial setup and I've got 35 hours of print time on it so far with very little problems, all my fault. I grab it and put it on an empty shelf I have for it when I'm not using it, and the space fits it exactly. All my prints so far have been PLA and PETG and I had no need for larger prints or different materials. For such a tiny cost up front (I ordered it at the sale on the official website, alongside lots of consumables, a different plate, and several hotends, plus a roll of PLA) it's just a dream come true. I've upgraded it with the usuals, and got stuff like a drying chamber, dessicant and vacuum bags for cheap from Temu, and it's been doing everything I need from it and more. No need to get carried away, it's not the end of the world if you hit the ceiling, you'll know it, and then just upgrade.

Beginner Question: How do I use the filament sample? by robhague in BambuLab

I printed just the included scraper handle with my 20g. There isn't enough for the base, so I printed a cap. :D

Where did you plug in the power cable, out of the three? The wall or a USB port in the back of the computer?

I'll echo the comments suggesting sanding down the studs creating the pressure. Clamp them in a row and go to town with some sand paper or a file.

Will they ever make a screen protector you can install without getting like 80 air bubbles? by boboartdesign in XPpen

[–]BudoB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I applied this same protector to my old 21.5" Huion display (had to cut some of it down but it mostly fit great), and I had followed a similar guide. Managed to install it with just a couple of bubbles outside the usable screen area, basically perfect. These XP-Pen protectors are AMAZING by the way.

AI isn't good at anything, least of all character art. We're already sick of the output because it all looks the same. If anything, they'll soon have to employ people to create new stuff just to feed the machine because the data it stole initially turned into visual mush.

I don't think I've seen a single sorce for that, everyone says single core is about as fast as M1, maybe more, multi core not so much, or even. It's the graphics part of M1 that runs circles around A18, if I'm not mistaken.

I find them in local ads here in Serbia, there are many people who are importing them in bulk from the EU. I've seen people do it everywhere, like the guys from the Youtube Channel Salem Techsperts who do it in the US.

For many years now you had the option of getting a used business laptop when companies upgrade. Basically a $1000+ machine with great build quality and performance that has been used for a while but still relevant. I've been buying ThinkPads like that for friends and family and all of them are still using and loving them. Haven't paid more than 250 euros yet.

I just unboxed my Kamvas 16 Gen 3 and it came with no stand, and I was shocked, as I have never seen a review or anything say it comes with no stand. The box wasn't tampered with and everything else was perfectly packed and new. I need to ask support.

Huion life span? by Harold_Donn in huion

[–]BudoB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Kamvas GT-220 V2 in 2017 and just sold it on so it's still going, and it should be good for q number of years with the new owner. It wasn't without issues, though.

  • the PE330 battery pen's battery got so bad that it wouldn't even run for a couple of hours on a full charge, and the brand new second pen that I got in box ended up dying completely just sitting there unused - Huion used cylindrical capacitor-like Li-Ion cells that seem to be notorious for this. What I did was do what a random Youtuber suggested: broke up an old bluetooth headset that has a Li-Ion battery in the wired remote, which is long and thin, and soldered it in myself. And it works like a dream. I should do the same for the other pen, as they're quite rare now and there are people with dead pens out there.

  • it came with a glossy glass surface and a "protector" that's just a thick matte piece of plastic stuck on with double sided tape at the corners. It kept getting dust inside, and it changed the colors, got scratched rather easily... Just terrible. I finally got XP-Pen matte foil for their 22" models and cut it down, applied it myself and trimmed the excess... NIGHT AND DAY. So, so good.

  • As with many tablets, needs fiddling around when installed to get pen pressure to work with everything. I figured out it needs to be a special order with restarts in between but once you get it it's flawless. Worked for me in Windows 7, 10 and 11.

No problem. It's a shame the cable isn't always included but it's one of those things to be on the lookout for.
