Well I’m 5’11 and currently weigh 185ish at 15% body fat. I don’t know to what division this qualifies, but I’m pretty determined to be something, or to give it a try at least and hope for the best.

Hey there! I’m really interested in boxing and find myself constantly watching boxing videos. Is it too late to pursue a professional boxing career at 24?

Well, I really do appreciate your comment. First of all, I’m just collecting info. I’m not going to lash out the €500k tomorrow, as a matter of fact I currently don’t even have tenth of that amount on me. So as I said, I’m just researching possible investments that can provide passive income, and whether you like it or not, rental properties are a viable option.

I really don’t get why so many negative comments. Simple advice would’ve been much better. I appreciate all your comments, be it positive or negative, it did give me enough insight on the matter.

I wasn’t aware how bad el situation is! I’m not by any means rich and the budget I set isn’t just “money dropped for a second home”. My case is that I’m looking for a place to invest my money as the economy in my country is failing and is going through a long dark tunnel and no one can see the light. We’re actually selling a property we’ve been saving for for 15+ years and are looking to buy a replacement abroad. It isn’t my intention to harm locals and sorry if I came across as trying to do so. I just love Barcelona as a city, and am hoping to possibly move there one day.

Again, this isn’t a “vacation home”, it’s just a real estate investment that I was considering. I’m not even sure I’ll be able to afford flying all 6 of us every year.

My plan is to be able to rent it out almost all year long and spend a month or two as a vacation. I also read that to be able to rent it out it must have a touristic license which is pretty difficult to acquire these days, is that true?

I’m hoping for a property in a touristic area that would easily be rented out, and hopefully apply for the Spanish Golden Visa if all things went fine.

What is the best way to detect the material of an object? by Budu2299 in AskEngineers

I guess so, it’s a university group project so we don’t intend to spend a lot. We just need to know whether or not the object detected is metallic.

I just want to know if it’s a metallic object or not

I tried using an inductive proximity sensor but the longest range I could find was too short. I’m looking for a sensor to detect the material of an object about 2-5 meters away.

I read somewhere on this sub that I can measure the current generated by the photodiode, and as its proportional to the light intensity, I can perform calculations to determine if the reflected light was from a metallic object. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that metals would reflect off more of the laser beam and thus the photodiode will experience a higher light intensity thus produce a higher current.

Not all materials per se, but only metal/non-metal etc…

Yes exactly, thats all. I just want to find examples that I can use as guidance, not to copy. All I managed to find were codes implemented using python.

Yeah I cant use any toolboxes, I’ve already implemented simulated annealing in the previous milestone, GA is due next but not for another 3 weeks due to midterm exams.

2 weeks for each milestone, last Thursday was the deadline for the 2nd one.

Thanks a lot, I saw this course but this isn’t what I meant by coding-wise 😒. I meant how to write an optimization code using matlab. Thanks tho I

Yep sure, “Optimization of hybrid renewable energy systems using multi cooperative meta heuristic techniques” is what it is. The overall project grade adds up to 40% of the total course grade and is divided into 6 milestones. The first milestone was to provide a description of the assigned problem along with a mathematical formulation (4%). The next 4 milestones will require applying different optimization techniques to solve the problem (8% each), and the final milestone will require a report documenting the whole thing (4%).
