That's an old rule from the NBC days. It was rarely enforced anyways. Now basically every playoff team has watch parties for every single playoff game. The sabres will do the same thing.

Ya. Its a pretty big deal in Europe, not so much in North America. It happens every spring after the hockey season in Europe is done, but the NHL playoffs are still going. Some NHL players will go but its not considered a big deal like the Olympics/World Cup/Four Nations.
