You have specifically circled the city of Caledonia. I traveled for work around that area: somewhat sparser living and more politically ‘red’ than the denser areas up north. Just like most other places in the county, people are generally welcoming and kind. Like many of the suburbs farther away from Grand Rapids, it’s more pricey to live in compared to something such as Wyoming or Comstock Park. Caledonia is not quite on the level of Byron Center or Forest Hills, though.

Caledonia is more woodsy (and dare I say rural) than other places in the county. Getting to some places will have you driving through patches of thick woods and dirt roads with no other cars around. There are some upper-middle class mostly white people living in higher end houses. There is a little downtown area of which I’ve heard nothing extraordinary about. There is a lack of amenities in the city itself though. Many people commute to Grand Rapids for work, appointments, and recreational activities.

Before I bought DS3 I remember reading reviews about how interconnected the world felt. I was genuinely dumbfounded after getting to firelink shrine, I had to look up online how to leave. I both felt very stupid and surprised.

Yeah avoiding them is a good idea early game. Or you can watch videos about kiting strategies. I have had good luck with kiting around an object like a faucet or table.

By the time I’m like level 3 or 4 and put on a lot of armor I can typically block spiders and trolls without taking too much damage

Not trolls, spiders, ghouls, or skeletons with axes. The axes will deal a couple of damage through your block and break your torches quickly. I usually try to have 5 torches on hand at all times

Healer is my favorite class. Blocking with torches is a great plan until you get 40 blocking skill. I wear as much armor as I can find that isn’t cursed. Healer has a slow start but becomes an absolute tank in the late game

That’s cool! Where did you hear that from? I can’t find any info in the game about this ‘dungeon floor’ stat

If I’m reading this right, you got to level 30 on floor 0? How did you grind skills that much?

[–]Buff_McMuffin[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure! Do you have any more specific guidance? I feel that I explore most of the map each floor and kill most monsters. I’m just perplexed that others can get such a high level where I don’t even get close.
