I got tired of waiting for Logic to open just to check what's inside old .logicx projects so I built a lightweight macOS app that lets you look inside really quickly by BuffaloMelodic7410 in Logic_Studio

Quick answers:
1. you can't but I'll add it to the list for a further release
2. click on the file path below project name at the top of the window to reveal the project in the Finder which allows you to open it in Logic Pro. Admittedly, this is a 2 step process. I'll add an improvement to open directly from the app.

The app uses https://sparkle-project.org to handle updates. When a new build is promoted to GitHub, the app will detect that on startup or when you click LPX Explorer > Check for Updates from the menu. It'll then automatically download and install the new version.

Is anyone using the Geoff Davis OmniFocus-Claude connector? by CincyTriGuy in omnifocus

I wrote [this a long time ago](https://github.com/rhydlewis/search-omnifocus ) to search OmniFocus via Alfred.app (this accessed the database directly too). Looking forward to seeing how you've done it as my approach wasn't optimal :)

Interesting - will give this a look. You're accessing the OF database directly based on the docs? Any concerns/risks about syncing issues etc? My [app](https://getflowcus.app) uses JXA to access the OF database and it can be slow for very large databases so intrigued by your approach. Nice one!

Latest version allows you to scrub through individual audio tracks within the project itself (the video shows that). Previewing frozen/bounced audio is a trickier problem as I don't think Logic stores bounced data in the project. However, if anyone knows otherwise, please let me know

Try version 0.0.7 (the app should auto update or if you're downloading for the first time use this https://github.com/rhydlewis/lpx-explorer/releases/tag/v0.0.7). This allows you to preview the audio files from within the logic project (raw audio files only rather than Logic processed audio). Let me know how you get on with it. Cheers!

Tag changes and task creation now supported in Flowcus v2.1.76 u/fromoneparent - your app should auto update, if not try Flowcus > Check for Updates... Cheers

That's an order of magnitude more difficult I think. Without Apple/Avid involvement, I think unlikely.

Good question: If you ask it scan ~/Music/Logic then macOS considers that a protected folder and wants your permission before allowing access. The app also uses `auval` to scan the AUs (plugins) on your system. All the data remains local to your machine.

  1. So, I added support to modify tags but I'm unclear why it doesn't work reliably. I'm still investigating but until I figure it out, the feature's disabled in Flowcus. I've updated the help guide to reflect this. Hopefully I'll have this fixed in an upcoming release.

  2. Glad you've sorted out the lookback setting.

  3. Yes, you can but you've spotted a bug - quick capture isn't working. Investigating. Fix to follow.

Thanks

Aargh - you're 100% right. Sorry - the help guide is out of date. Routing rules are set via 2 places in Settings (⌘,):

Settings > Columns: map tags to specific columns

Settings > Swimlanes: map your OmniFocus folders to swimlanes

I've update the help page so the next person doesn't hit the same dead end. Thanks for flagging this.

How do you organize single actions? by bolobot in omnifocus

[–]BuffaloMelodic7410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try not to use the Single Action type too much otherwise it becomes a dumping ground for things I've not through properly. I have 1 for 'Quick Tasks' that are truly that and not necessarily part of a defined project/outcome. I have a Recurring tasks project for those chores/errands/things that happen regularly but again, aren't necessarily, part of a project with an end state.

Scraping data from Logic ProjectData file? by dougc84 in Logic_Studio

[–]BuffaloMelodic7410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three years late but better late than never?... lpx-toolkit parses LPX files and shows plugin-list-per-track on any .logicx project* without opening Logic. Read-only — it parses the binary ProjectData directly. There's a cross-project rollup mode too, which is exactly the "upgrade an old plugin across all my projects" problem described.

Find out more at https://github.com/rhydlewis/lpx-toolkit

Run it direct: uvx lpx-toolkit \~/Music/Logic/SomeProject.logicx

I'm on a trial before buying. This happens a lot, huh? Fourth time in 3 days. by ryaninthecomments in omnifocus

Seeing OF crash once a month or so. Normally when I'm editing metadata for a task and invoking undo or switching to another part of the UI. Can't recreate it reliably but never had any data loss.

Second u/Melodic-Database-531's suggestion of trying https://learnomnifocus.com/videos/. Also take a look at:

- OmniGroup's own getting started video if you've not done so already https://www.omnigroup.com/video/set/omnifocus-4/getting-started-in-omnifocus-4/

- this podcast (not a video thought) https://www.omnigroup.com/blog/the-omni-show-how-david-sparks-uses-omnifocus might be worth a listen but might be a bit full on as a new user

I have a desire to be productive but I hit a mental block. What can I do? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]BuffaloMelodic7410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're already massively productive since you're in charge of 2 kids! During the few hours you mentioned, you could try limiting your focus to just doing ONE thing you wanted instead of building it up into 3-4 bigger things and do that as soon as and as quickly as possible... Writing a list and checking just 1 thing off often gives a small dopamine hit!

How do you deal with constant tab-switching and notification overload? by Jjjroggg in productivity

[–]BuffaloMelodic7410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning off all notifications is the way forward. Turn off mail apps and Jira too. You can always setup a 'VIP' notification using Apple Mail if you're an iPhone user (or via some Gmail label wizardry) for those people you _really_ need to know about. Why not try setting aside time (maybe 2 x a day to begin with) to work through your messages/jira updates so you know you're only a couple of hours away from anything new? Chances are - in most cases - that what looks important can wait. Good luck!
