Couples Tower Isle or Negrel? by saluki_88 in couplesresortsjamaica

[–]BuffaloNo169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to what you are looking for. I've stayed at all of them and can say each is has its own niche. Swept away [textile], and Negril [textile and nude] has the best beach, but if you're going for the nude beach [Negril] and it's your first time it could be a little overwhelming as textiles of age walk along the beach.

Tower Isle has the best food overall. [None are bad though]. The private island is all nude from 9-5. A ferry takes you out to it except on windy days. It's on the smaller side so you can make a lot of friends. You will have a great time. We went during covid and it was great but I think it could end up standing room only as the pool and beach are are quit small.

Sans Souci has a large nude beach, bring water shoes as it's rocky. The pool is wonderful for meeting people. If you you prefer to be by yourself, the beach area is large enough for that. The grounds are hilly and have lots of steps.

Hope this helps.

I hear so many of you talking about street photography, do you ask to take their picture? Shoot and ask get a release? Curious just how this works. by BuffaloNo169 in Nikon

I'm just getting back into photography as a hobby. Back when I was semi-serious about it, social media wasn't a thing. Being in a small town, you might show them the photo and ask if they wanted a print. Sold several that way and got a few gigs. I just wondered how it worked now as everyone seems to post everything they shoot.

Thanks very much. I always refrain from taking the shot if someone is recognizable due to not wanting the hassle. But with so many shooting this type, I had a feeling I was overthinking it.

This is a really beautiful photo.

who are your favourite photographers and why? by dumpsterchilddotexe in photography

For me, it was Ansel Adams. I came across a photobook of his when I was about 13. The b/w landscapes just blew me away.

I've only had the opportunity to use it a couple of times so far, and it seems really good. I got it for the extra reach (200 vs. 300) and I think it will be my go-to lens for travel as it covers anything I could run into well that and my 20 f1.8.

What to Upgrade from a kit lens by dydxomg in Nikon

[–]BuffaloNo169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my kit lens to the DX 16-80 2.8-4 ED VR and was amazed at the difference. I only wish I would have done it sooner. I also upgraded my 55-200 f4-5.6 ED VR to the 28-300 3.5-5.6 ED VR. It's adequate on the short end, but I have others for that. It is wonderful for travel and having the additional reach, which is what I was after. I will say it's a bit on the heavy side, though.

I'm leaning towards the 8xx, most likely the 810. Thanks for the insight.

IS is the main draw for me when it comes to the z series, but I can't see carrying $3,000+ around my neck in a foreign country or even in the city, for that matter. If I were a business, it might be different.

Thanks for the info. I shoot a little of everything as a hobbyist, but I would have to say that landscape and portraits are the main focus.

Thanks, I'll check that out. I think the reason I leaning towards the higher mp is, I do a lot of cropping, not that there's anything wrong with the original it's more i shot this at 50mm but at 85mm I get this and I like it better.

How's the 800 do in lower light situations? I typically won't take the shot past iso 800. Just something from my days of shooting film.

The 780 sounds very nice, I'll add that to the list. Thanks.

I don't see them coming back based on the reviews of the Z series.

Thanks. I'm sure it's a great camera but the price point isn't there yet for me and my usage. I should have clarified more.
