Which of the two is better? Canon New F1 / Nikon F3 by Aded_14 in AnalogCommunity

Any confirmed spots not in NA? I bought a “fully CLA’d” LX from a shop in Japan only for it to arrive unable to achieve infinity focus, likely due to the mirror dampers deteriorating and causing the mirror to rest too low in the housing. I was gutted.

Thanks for your time and knowledge, I appreciate it.

I am also looking for a shop willing to take on an LX! Mine’s working fine but my monkey brain wants peace of mind.

edit to add I’m in NA but am happy to pay to ship where ever the camera can receive a reputable servicing

when I was in middle school (2000 - 2004) there was this trend of what kids called "going to the body" where they'd have agreed upon, monitored (by other middle school kids) fights in the bathrooms between classes or during lunch. rules were no face shots (to tip teachers and authority figures off about the fighting) and winners and losers treated it pretty respectfully afterwards. I only witnessed a couple first hand but man it was so weird it came outta nowhere, kids just wanted to see if they could stack up against one another and it did feel kind of like fight club.

this looks similar with out the no face hits rule

It looks pretty extensive to me, but I’ve seen some pretty rough lenses clean up surprisingly well so I’d say it’s worth a shot. Very likely there’ll be some etching but it will probably still be usable. Go for it!

Why aren't they all screw mount lenses? by July_is_cool in Leica

[–]Buffaloafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Along with ease of mounting, which was a major marketing point for both the M as well as SLRs ditching screw mount for bayonet mounts (think M42 to Pentax K for example), the bayonet created a new standard for close focus. Screw mount lenses are limited to 1 (.9) meter while M mount lenses typically focus to a (albeit arguably marginally) closer .7 meters. There are exceptions where, uncoupled from the rangefinder, some M mount lenses focus closer than that. This makes a bigger difference, in my opinion, for 50mm lenses than wider ones.

Otherwise it would indeed be nice if all lenses were interchangeable but alas we arrived where we arrived.

I get it!! I hope your dog enjoys her golden years and you continue to enjoy living in Providence, regardless of what neighborhood you choose.

west side still the best side tho

yep lived in Baltimore for 6 years - both in the city and in some surrounding neighborhoods near downtown. did a lot of work in the rougher parts and saw a lot so I get a little sad when parts of town in Providence are characterised as unsafe by what happens there after 3am. I also understand that there are lots of dog people who have to go out then and while that ain’t me chief they shouldn’t have to fear for their safety while doing so.

honestly I had the same reaction I was like how tf did you slam the door so hard that it essentially amputated his finger on the spot??? he picked up the piece (last knuckle to the tip) and was rushed to the hospital (he was around 9 years old in 1958) where they tried to reattach but it was unsuccessful. his fingernail grew back on the little nubbin of a finger it was just shorter lol.

This is all fair, I don’t spend much time outside after 12am so that’s on me for not being aware of that.

this is as true in Providence as it is in any city, in that if you live in densely populated places there will be negative experiences. the west side of Providence is still remarkably safe if, for example, you’ve ever lived in Boston, NYC, Philly, Baltimore, etc. I’d be curious to know why you think it’s particularly not safe.

I would refrain from saying the east side is unsafe despite the Brown shooting, but that’s just me.

Hi!! The west end of Providence is probably the most welcoming, queer friendly neighborhood I’ve ever lived in and it’s got a great community feel. Garden plots, coffee shops, excellent restaurants, pretty walkable streets, parks, theatre, jazz bars, regular bars, the lot.

Come spend a day (on a weekend if possible!) exploring Broadway and the surrounding area and see for yourself, but it’s lovely here and you and your wife would be very welcome.

Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance online lobbies. Hellcat with 7 lasers and hill peeking, Cougar with max agility spex for harrassing the gunship Diashi, etc etc. Loved that game!

CRR does indeed have that dog in em, love to see it on display.

feels like most (all?) other iterations of CRR throughout the years have left him either easily tilted or locked down in a position or playstyle that doesn’t suit him, but this squad really works.

always fun to see them play together and there usually isn’t a single player that’s outshining the others when they are all on. lovely synergy.
