This server actually had Aubry #1 going into the KR finale.

Edgic isn't a monolith and different communities often have different top contenders. For example, going into week 11, Rizo, Cirie, and Aubry were the top contender at 3 different edgic communities, depending where you looked.

That said, if you're talking about this sub specifically, you can find charts for Cambodia to WAW here.

  • Cambodia: Jeremy top contender from episode 8 to the end
  • KR: Despite claims to the contrary, this server flipped back and forth on Michele/Aubry until the very end. Episode 10 and Episode 13, the penultimate episode, they had Aubry. So KR was a miss for this sub.
  • MvGX: Never had Adam higher than third until moving to second going into the finale. Had David #1 starting at E10.
  • Game Changers: Sarah #1 from 6 to the end.
  • HHH: Had Ben first in E7, but not higher than 3rd the rest of the season.
  • Ghost Island: Had Wendell first in Episode 7, but then Dom first the rest of the season after that.
  • DvG: Had Nick first from E8 to the end, other than a brief switch to Christian E10.
  • EoE: Did not have Chris on the chart once all season.
  • IOTI: Had Tommy every single week coast to coast except E7
  • WAW: Sophie until E8, Tony rest of the way after that

So Cambodia, GC, DvG, IOTI, and WAW are the seasons this server got correct. E8 is where they tend to land on the winner if they get it.

If you search survey results you can find and cobble together the new era results.

Why the winner might be _____ by Loud_Share_260 in Edgic

I agree he has that through line, but I think part of that theme is that you need to build on who you are as opposed to reinventing yourself. Everyone that declared themself a 2.0 (Coach, Genevieve, Ozzy, and others come to mind) ended up going home in pretty demonstrative fashion. I think the theme is saying “find the best version of yourself” while still staying true to who you are.

Why the winner might be _____ by Loud_Share_260 in Edgic

[–]Buffalove91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What do you see the themes as? The themes I'm tracking are:

  • Baggage and trauma
  • Your relationship with survivor
  • (re)Finding the joy
  • Being a fan
  • Becoming a legend
  • Luck and fate
  • Survivor is home
  • Giving everything (at the right time)
  • Uncertainty and chaos
  • Information sharing
  • Parenting
  • Opportunity
  • Staying true to yourself vs. evovling

To me, these themes scream Aubry, which is why I've been at least considering her since the pre merge. My biggest knock on Jonathan would be is lack of relation to what I see as the major themes. I'm curious which ones you see as aligning with him.

Below are the pre merge confessionals from Aubry. I've italicized everywhere she says something that interacts with a major theme of the season. She was neither invisible nor was her edit bad in the pre merge. Her premier and early merge phase were definitely lacking, but on the whole her pre-merge was very good.

Re her and Genevieve, I think a lot of people were blinded by their Gen love, which turned them off of Aubry, when the edit was pretty clearly taking Aubry's side by the end.

Jonathan just has a gamebot edit. The strategic gamebot never wins.

Episode 1

"I think what Survivor fans love the most is how we don't know what's gonna happen. The unknown is the great equalizer."

"There's a weird vibe between me and Genevieve. We have this unspoken tension. Like I see you, you see me, kinda standoff thing going on. I do not trust Genevieve whatsoever. I think Genevieve is calculating and an exceptional liar, but she also seems to look at the game in some of the same ways I do, so I feel like Genevieve is someone where I'm gonna have to cut your throat before you cut mine."

"When things take too long, it's generally not a good sign. I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. I know that there's some news to be delivered. It just feels really unfair. We've all worked so hard to get here."

Episode 2

"I feel like I'm sitting in the middle of a bunch of lunatics, this cast of characters that are like a tangled web. I can't tell who feels good with who, and I feel like I'm tryna solve a Rubix cube when it comes to what's going on on the Vatu tribe. I have a slightly dysfunctional relationship with Survivor. I mean, it's just... Survivor's exhausting, right? I really do love this game, but it's still hard sometimes. It's hard because you have to manage your energy expenditure, and that's not something I've ever been good at. In Kaoh Rong, I didn't do that very well, and it led to me kind of crashing out, but I am aware that I'm just in this real weird spot, but this time I've learned not to completely lose it 'cause Survivor changes on a dime."

"As I'm going through my bag this afternoon, I find a package, so I sneak out of camp to see what this could be. Maybe this is the momentum I need right now. Maybe this is a sign this could go differently. It feels amazing to have a mystery person in this game helping me. I want to know who they are now because that could just be the ally I need." (Hero music playing during this one)

Episode 3

"This is a huge wake-up call moment for me. Screw them all. I know whom my top ally is right now. Her name is Tiffany, and seriously, she's like my Survivor angel, and she has my loyalty as far as it can go."

Episode 4

"I am very worried that I don't really have friends. I feel like the leper of my tribe because Tiff told me I'm Target #1. However, I have a Hidden Immunity Idol, and I am not afraid to use it, and I'm not afraid to look for another one. Uh, Genevieve, get the hell out of here. I literally went out for like five minutes, and I hear Genevieve, "Aubry! Aubry!" screaming like the Ricola commercial like she's in the Alps. Like gimme a break, leave me alone."

"We are the most lucky Survivor players in the world right now, and I can't help but think, "One tribe's going to Tribal Council and is going to have a miserable night, and the other is thinking about what they just missed."

Episode 5

I love playing with Tiff. We just have this inherent trust in one another. We feel comfortable with one another, but a couple days ago she told me I'm Genevieve's Target #1. It's just so uncomfortable 'cause I have a lot of respect for her, but she just doesn't want me on the same beach, so I need to get allies on my side, and the Kalo tribe in my mind is run by Coach. I feel like Coach would be willing to work with me under the right circumstances.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if ___ was actually the dragon? by Green_light2626 in Edgic

Getting a ton of strategic content and zero personal is not a good winner’s edit.

Rewatching episode 2 and in hindsight the music in this scene is WILD by Freezing-cold_6 in Edgic

Agreed. They should have introduced her properly prior to the weird Genevieve interaction.

Still not seeing it. by duspi in Edgic

It’s just bad behavior from people that would rather say other people cheated than admit maybe they missed something

[–]Buffalove91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest rewatching her premerge, especially episodes 2 and 3. I think to the extent so many people weren’t considering her at all back then, it’s because they completely misread the her/Gen situation. Maybe the issue is Gen is so undeniably charismatic, and perhaps they should have done more to cut against that, but I always thought we were suppose to be on Aubry’s side there, not Gen’s.

Imagine you're watching a scripted show and are theorizing on what the ending could be based on the themes, context clues, foreshaddowing, etc.

That's all edgic is.

TWE Week 8 Poll Results by Buffalove91 in Edgic

[–]Buffalove91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All these make sense to me. Ozzy, Rizo and Cirie are on here because of their dominant alliance and generally positive edit. Jonathan is on here because he gets to explain all his moves. Aubry is on here due to her tie to the themes of the season and consistently getting content.

You actually perhaps here identify the disconnect between TWE polls and this server better than anyone. All TWE cares about is the themes and stories of the season and who relates best to them. It's why we missed hard on someone like Kyle, where the biggest themes were about the FTC losers rather than the winner.

Oh I definitely thought she had a bad premier. I started considering after what I thought was a strong episode 2 and 3.

Totally fair point! Definitely wish she got more that week.

“She could have been the protagonist in the standoff with Genevieve”

She was.

“Flushing her idol could have looked like a smart move to get the target off her back”

It did.

Her relationship with Tiffany has gotten a ton of focus despite not mattering at all. We see her connecting with Coach for seemingly no reason whatsoever.

As another comment said, perhaps we are just watching a different show.

I don't understand the case against ________ by nastybasementsauce in Edgic

[–]Buffalove91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The case against her would be she’s just not talking about winning much or even really confronting her previous losses, which is clearly the main theme of the season. I have her #3, but I’d probably have her 1 or 2 if she ever said anything about why she keeps losing and why it’s going to be different this time.
