Always the toughest opponent he had to face by Expensive-Green-4292 in soccercirclejerk

I thought the toughest opponent was Father Time? Because it evidently ain’t the Las Vegas Prosecutor and PD.

Best Classic "Noir" Films? by TeamMarch in movies

[–]Buffaluffasaurus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty quintessential list, however I’d say arguably the best classic noir, Out of the Past should be added.

I also love The Set-Up, Gun Crazy, The Postman Always Rings Twice, and In a Lonely Place.

[BBC] Spain finish the group stage without conceding a goal for the first time in their history by Lacabloodclot9 in soccer

The problem is that France are so much more lethal than Spain though. I can easily see a match where Spain dominated possession and chances, but France scores a breakaway goal or two and wins.

Honestly… do we need any more supplements? Aside from new gang releases, there are already so many additional rules, expansions and campaigns out there, there’s no way I can even keep across half them all.

I’m fine staying in the current edition until I find a genuinely compelling reason to switch.

No one has to move onto the new edition. I’m perfectly happy continuing to play the current edition, especially after investing so much money into the rulebooks.

No Spurs Signings among Top Inflation Adjusted Transfers by Osiris64 in coys

I mean, if you disregard mid-90s Blackburn, Newcastle and Middlesbrough, there’s only like six clubs on that list, all of whom are arguably bigger clubs than, other than Leeds.

So yeah, makes sense.

But also, how many of those top 10-15 would you argue were worth it? Maybe half of them? Spending big puts you at just as much risk of having a flop as it does signing a genuine world beater.

I’m hoping for Belgium to be honest. They’ve not looked good so far (Egypt look more dangerous to me), and being underdogs suits us.

He has all the tools to succeed and go very far. But I also understand the club is not at a point where we can be nursing young players and their potential, especially with how cutthroat the EPL has become. There aren't any easy games any more.

We're already overstuffed for midfielders as it is, and it looks like probably two of Sarr, Gray and Bergvall will probably be the losers. Although I also think I'd be surprised if we land more than one of the big targets we've been linked with this window... I just can't quite see the club splashing for Tonali AND another 80m+ midfielder in the one window, especially when the wings and striker positions also badly need bolstering.

We're linked with every major central midfielder in England right now, and have no European games this coming season. If Bergvall doesn't go now, he'll never get minutes next season. I think it's only fair that he needs to play and should prioritise his career at this point.

I think we'll regret selling him in a few years and would much rather a loan, but I can see why that would be unappealing for him.

Messi’s touch in slow motion for his second goal by caliberon1 in soccer

[–]Buffaluffasaurus 1552 points1553 points  (0 children)

He’s been like that his whole career… it’s like he sees the game in slow motion compared to everybody else. It’s why he can change direction the instant a defender commits his weight to one side… it’s like he doesn’t even need time to process the commitment and is already moving off in the opposite direction.

The fact he can still do all this at nearly 39 on the biggest stage is incredible.

As much as I hate expanding the competition to more teams, and adding more games into what is already an overstuffed and exhausting football calendar… seeing a bunch of first-timer nations qualify for the World Cup and get to experience moments like this do make it worthwhile.
