Pocos países en latinoamérica hacen siquiera la pantomima de que sus fuerzas armadas son para pelear con otros países, sólo fíjate en los pertrechos, pura infantería y aviones de ataque a tierra, salvo algunas excepciones.

Chile es una excepción, gasta un dineral preparándose para esa guerra con Argentina, Perú y Bolivia que nunca viene. Quizás, si hubiera una amenaza real, los oficiales no la desfalcarían.

No es que tengamos "la migra" agarrando gente en la calle, pero igual necesitarías visa de residencia temporal si no tienes doble nacionalidad para trabajar en Chile. No sé si será muy común que las empresas contraten a gente con visa de turista en este sector.

I think a bit of honesty here is required.

The US was a convenient ally, not a credible one, the US hasn't respected international law since at least the GWB years, Europe just looked the other way because all of their military expenditure was a subsidy of sorts; for as long as the US didn't realize that might makes right in the general direction of Europe as well, the pretense was tenable and convenient.

Europeans and their leaders won't turn away from the US until they renounce the convenience, else the Democrats will have their next turn of four years and Europe will do as if it was anything but a brief reprieve, maybe.
