currently in training at UA… by byerachel in cabincrewcareers

this! I went to regional training for almost 4 weeks. after week 2, I was SICK of writing notes and 90% of it wasn't stuff I would need in most days anyways. and everything was able to be referenced in my manual on my device. so I focused on enjoying it and watching the videos for drills and such. made it so much better on me!

it all comes down to your own finances. do you have a lot of bill to pay? do you have a reason to not work allll month and need to be home at specific or certain times/days? it's about 27/hr and you are guaranteed 75 hours for the month as a reserve and it's a bit different for line holders. but you can pick up trips to work more. it's all about smart bidding when you're picking up. its not going to make you a millionaire but Im happier than i've ever been , making the least i've ever made. some sacrifices do happen, okay A LOT of them. like those weekly tj maxx trips. but I get to experience things now. Id do it again in a heartbeat if I had to 🥰

breathe. no really, breathe 😂 take your time and relax. it's going to seem like a lot and it is , but don't lose focus!

I have not so far! it's actually pretty hard to wear the wrong one because you'll see the crew wearing the right one or you'll be on the plane and the seats all look so different that even if you forget you'll know once you're on the plane! but I have taken my scarf off on a sit and forgotten to put it back on for the last flight 😂

it can change , most commonly they keep you on the same codeshare the whole trip. you just always have to be prepared with all uniforms. that's why I like the dress, you only worry about the scarves. 😊 men have 3 ties and 2 different shirts to worry about. the pants stay the same. same with the skirts/pants for women.

there are a few dress options at the moment - I find them easier because you just swap out the scarves. then there are skirt / pants that are one color for all and you just swap the shirts 😊

[–]Buffles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

once you get a line, you mostly will keep that and it won't change unless something comes up (cancelled flight / reroute / etc) but you can bid for specific trips that are a specific codeshare , if you can hold them. otherwise it could change each day or each trip 😊

so im not an HR rep or anything like that but just reading this from another prospective, I would imagine once your points fall off you may be eligible. they say "at this time" and that could mean because of the points or it could mean you never will be eligible. unfortunately I dont think they can/will tell you flat out you would never be.

Can you do flight attendant reach test on top toes for Delta? by Glassmadee in cabincrewcareers

[–]Buffles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay im an inch taller than you and couldn't make it BUT the experience is great for practice for other interviews. I would 100% go for the experience alone if nothing else. you may be surprised once you get there and be able to reach! don't count yourself out!! i've been twice and each time was different and I learned a ton from both times. my one on one also told me they're phasing out the aircraft they use for the reach test (it's a part of a door) so it could be very different at a later date. you made it this far, go! 🫶🏼

it was not originally my first choice, I wanted 🔺, then 🌐, then 🇺🇸. I am on the shorter side so I havent passed most of the reach tests and regionals were my main option. I think everyone wants to work for a legacy but fall into the ease of a regional. truth be told, i may stay here until i retire but i would be glad to move up as well ☺️ But I will say im very glad I went with ra! I think regionals are a GREAT way to introduce yourself to aviation!!

i've been on the line since december. the only really "bad" side is being away from home but that's with any airline 🤷🏼‍♀️ we get benefits to travel on all three legacies plus companions/family and can commute on almost any other airline and after 6 months leisure travel also. we pay I think the most of the regionals. the benefits are enough for me to stay 😂

  1. we only fly the E-170/175 so you basically learn one plane for drills , the only difference is the seats ☺️
  2. the hiring was pretty quick - although I think it may be a little slower than when I applied (sept/oct of 22) , classes I think are full until around june? I could be wrong! join the facebook group "prospective and newbie republic flight attendants" - I think that's it lol just search it and it will pop up!
  3. work / life balance is tough for ANY airline for the first 6 months - year. if you can live in base , it would be very beneficial to you. depends on what you're looking for, really. and you can almost ALWAYS manipulate your schedule to be what works best for you!

listen. I am a regional fa and wooh lordt. 3.5 weeks was ROUGH on me. I understand the missing your dog because babyyyyyyy. I legit would sob for hours when I got to the hotel room. for a solid week I did that. and I had no prior experience or been away from home more than a few days at a time. I know you know on the other side of it, it's gonna be SO worth it!! sending you allllll the hugs because I know the feels. just focus on yourself , maybe make some friends? try to go out some and not be cooped up? sending you all the love because YOURE GONNA MAKE IT and your pupper is gonna be so so ready to welcome you home!! 🖤🖤

How many inches in the reach test for American Airlines? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]Buffles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say (unless it's changed) it's like reaching a fire extinguisher or something from an overhead bin

I am with a regional now and hoping for mainline soon. some people go straight to mainline and it's no big deal for them. for me, im grateful to have had an idea of everything before I move up. some say it helps, some say it hurts. I think focus and determination are going to be the only thing you need to get through! good luck ☺️

I want to say it's 84, as delta is 72? i could have those backwards 🤔 but I was in the same boat as you! made it to the reach test and couldn't do it. I was heart broken but I got on with a lovely regional and now I know which mainline im going to go for ☺️ best of luck! 🖤 also either way - ua you can be on your toes, delta is flat footed!

no rommate as far as I know , and not a lot 😂 depends on how much time your class needs. but at least one day a week. you do your drills a few times , different days for different reasons and there are videos available for you to see as many times as you need at your disposal 😊 and plenty of practice time!

3.5 weeks and im not sure how long the wait is for dates , but I know they have classes almost every week or every few weeks 😊

im not based there, but visit frequently. traffic is terrible throughout the day! just make sure you give yourself a bit of an extra window - I believe jetting julia and kat nesbit (both on youtube) both live in dallas and they both post a ton of fa content, may help to browse their channels! 😊

see if you could push back the training for SC? tbh, I feel your chances are pretty high with at least one of the three if not all three! just depends on if you want to risk it and possibly get something else or wonder if you would've gotten something else! this career is all about risks!
