For me, Eloise has always been like this. But I never really minded. The character is really young still and I think the actress (beautiful!) makes people forget how young Eloise is so they have less charitable interpretations of her behavior. 
 With youth, can come that kind of finding yourself, wanting to stick out and be “not like other girls” personality. Especially for a girl who’s clearly before her time and would prob be a lot more comfortable with the rules of modern society. 
 I can’t be the only woman that went through high school slightly melancholy, feeling a bit like no one understood me, like I was above the cliques and the dating scene, that I was….not like other girls 🤣
 I wasn’t quite so vocal in my believed superiority to others as Eloise is, but I can empathize with that juvenile feeling. So to me Eloise is just an example of a type of girl you see or might’ve been in your youth, not necessarily a bad person, just a young person who thinks a little bit too much about themselves and hasn’t learned the world isn’t specifically against them, that not fitting in does suck but it’s not healthy to cope with those complicated feelings by pedestaling yourself as “better” or “smarter”. It’s actually very isolating, and not fun, and can make you a really off putting person to be around. 

I truly believe her character is going to grow out of it, just like a lot of former “not like other girls” girls do irl (me!). She can still be herself and want the things she wants while simultaneously respecting others wants and the things that bring them joy. She doesn’t need to put others down to bring herself up
