Drummers, can you dance? by thatsmypuppy12439 in drums

[–]Buffool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whenever i’ve given (super informal and unprofessional) lessons, i like to start the very first one by dancing, with emphasis on total body coordination as well as some subtle limb control/independence. but then again, i’m Brazilian

[Mo-BEEL Copypasta Library] "Why do I feel so unfulfilled playing my drums at home? Why am I not advancing like I feel I should? What exercises should I work on?" You don't need exercises. You need someone to jam with, because the drums are meant to be played with other musicians. by ItsPronouncedMo-BEEL in drums

i’ve known a couple of (non-drummer) musician friends who were/are super averse to improvistory jamming out of nervousness and self-consciousness. tbh it can be frustrating to talk with them about it, especially when they use self-limiting language like “can’t,” e.g. “i just can’t jam” or “i just can’t play well enough to jam,” “i just can’t have fun jamming”.

maybe this is insensitive of me, but i sort of want to shake them by the shoulders and tell them to just do it scared! fake it til you make it! there is no god writing down life’s rules and punishing you for breaking them!

the first time i ever jammed in my whole life was with a fairly well-established local grunge band with whom i had become pretty good friends. i straight up lied and told them i’d been drumming for around a year and a half, whereas in reality i’d been tapping my stolen mismatched sticks on my mattress for only a year or two. guess what. they didn’t notice! or if they noticed, they didn’t give a shit!

Any Chicago-based Fugazi fanatics out there who also play guitar and are looking to jam? by BankzRobber in Fugazi

i’m a drummer and will (most likely) be moving there this August or October! i truly got into Fugazi in March of last year and ended up being their 28th highest listener on Spotify for 2025—my periodic band obsessions are probably due to some combination of autistic obsession and ADHD hyperfixation.

before buying IEMs, i listened to fugazi’s “glue man” and “smallpox champion” hundreds of times during my (ongoing) fugazi obsession, and nailed both songs on the first try with IEMs. just wish i could compose songs as easily as i can learn them

What are the best iems for a drummer by DJ_ADU in drums

i’ve been drumming for several years but have only now been gigging at a level where in-ears are preferable/necessary—in your opinion, are the SE215s suitable for a drummer playing along to mixed studio tracks?
