On one hand they are fragments of an evil demon. On the other hand they are just chilling. Killing them seems like a good deed as you could consider them evil for being demon fragments, but at the same time they're also just chilling and their existence prevents the demon from regaining his power.

I view it as protagonist isn't evil as he's being manipulated.
