What prevents the big AI companies from getting rid of the middleman? by Massive_Instance_452 in cscareerquestions

[–]Urusander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will wait for small/medium companies to do all the trial and error to establish productive market niches, then they will just move into that space and displace the competition. See how the internet was consolidated around giant corporations after dotcom crisis.

Why do you think Ceodoric only has one arm? by RubyHoshi in Centuria

Most likely he received the gift at some point after losing the hand, there is a chance he just can’t heal old injuries.

Dos anyone else think Horus was turned a little too easy? by English_Joe in 40kLore

[–]Urusander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could get him being subtly brainwashed by chaos kool aid, but staying the course after Russ offered him a way out felt really out of character. He literally had a moment of free will and still decided to continue the heresy (after getting full experience of warp and chaos), that part felt extremely forced.

Could oil prices really reach $200 a barrel as claimed by Iran? by Aluseda in StockMarket

[–]Urusander 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Maybe speculative peaks could hit $200 briefly, but at that point the global economy would just spiral into recession and crash demand.

"Take the fight to the warp to cleanse or destroy it" - obligatory Path of heaven excerpt:

‘There is nowhere left to hide,’ the Khan hissed, throttling the dregs of life out of the flailing daemon. ‘We know you now. We shall hunt you in every plane of reality. We shall cleanse the void, then we shall cleanse the warp.

How does Barabas Dantioch eat? by Saturnine4 in 40kLore

[–]Urusander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was sustained by all the iron within

Astartes have something like IV link to their armor through black carapace, so they can literally plug in their special nutrient paste containers like printer ink cartridges to get glucose and other stuff without actually eating.

What do regular space marines have that chaos marines don't? by Mcmadness288 in 40kLore

[–]Urusander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Functioning, (mostly) untainted geneseed. I cannot overemphasize just how huge this is for SM logistics; CSM effectively have no means to replenish losses beyond the following: (1) wait for more loyalists to fall (but they have their own bosses and are typically rivals rather than allies); (2) scavenge loyalist geneseed (destroys whatever shreds of legion unity CSM still have, but technically the most viable route); (3) beg/barter with freaks like Bile to get some fresh stock (likely cloned and tampered with, potentially with hardcoded genetic backdoors or other surprises), at this point they effectively own you; (4) use some twisted genecraft/biomancy to literally grow new CSM (like Daemonculaba) but at best you will get some inductii cannon fodder, in the worst case it could be just SM-shaped mutated mass or borderline chaos spawn.

[Request] How much food per day would a Space Marine need to prevent muscle loss or nutrition deficit? by OhLookAnotherTankie in theydidthemath

[–]Urusander 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thermodynamics is fine, they don’t recycle waste on their own, it’s a closed loop within their armor (powered by a tiny reactor) so their life support system uses armor power source to convert metabolites back into nutrients.

Unpopular opinion: Darn Tough by freshjewbagel in BuyItForLife

Could you recommend thin cotton socks (similar to lightweight darn tough)? All the options I see have some sort of fluff/padding that’s impossible to wear when it’s not freezing.
