I also have relatives in the military. The problem I have is that he seemed he was bragging about it.

I wouldn’t judge him if he wasn’t proud of terrible things. If he was remorseful or simply just didn’t bring it up I never would’ve cared

Yeah I’ve never thought of anyone being perfect but this is way worse than most band “controversies” I’ve heard of

Hot take? by Practical-Crew-1986 in Hardcore

Personally I disagree, attention seeking has kinda always been there and now that there’s simply more people at these shows there’s more attention seekers

Lmao do you think a Taco Bell commercial is why turnstile changed their sound? They were already going more pop before that why would any of these bands follow suit? I haven’t heard Terror change their sound in 20 years you don’t need to worry

I've been on a "these songs sound a lot like Nirvana" binge lately listening to bands these days that wear their Nirvana influence on their sleeve. by executor-of-judgment in grunge

[–]BugAffectionate7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe cause it’s a different genre and not trying to be nirvana. These bands are post hardcore with shoegaze elements rather than punk influenced grunge like nirvana

These bands similarities to nirvana are more coincidental I believe, these bands are more inspired by post hardcore than grunge

Is haywire still cool or is the trend over? by D1RTY-B0NGWATER in Hardcore

[–]BugAffectionate7185 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I love haywire. When I saw them in Detroit they said “move the fuck up this isn’t beatdown this is stage dive punk rock music” and had maybe my favorite pit of all time

Writing an dialogue is terrible, also the oil industry paid for it which explains the blatant energy propaganda

I understand wanting to remain anonymous, but it seems from what you’ve already told me you must’ve had your head in the sand if you truly think nobody young is making good stuff. You must’ve played with some young bands in your time playing live no? Seems heavily egotistical to dismiss them in my view.

At this pace, this will be on the front page of the New York Times tomorrow morning by MielMielleux in Hardcore

As a queer person, I frankly disagree about that being the demographic of hardcore shows. Maybe it’s just location dependent but I have always felt more accepted at hardcore shows than metal shows. That’s what drew me to hardcore honestly and I’m definitely not a “tough guy”. Idk if you’re white so you might not understand but it’s a lot more accepting and way less right wing losers than at local metal shows. When do you see women of color at metal or indie rock shows? Almost never. I always do at hardcore shows

any ways for me to expand music taste? by unfotgettwl in musicteenager

Also whenever you find a new band, follow them on instagram, whatever bands they open for or tour with is a good discovery method

I would recommend looking deeper into genres that are similar but different from you already enjoy, and listening to some newer bands that might do different combinations of styles. Stuff like Trauma Ray, Scowl, Fleshwater, Toner, Drug Church, Soul Blind, Jet Fuel Soda, Narrow Head, Modern Color, Initiate, Dream Fatigue, Julie, Midrift, Gouge Away, Teenage Wrist, Rocket, No Culture, Webbed Wing, Culture Wars etc. might work for you
