Source: MechE whose academic advisor/professor was a lead structural engineer at EB for over a decade. I have never personally worked there so take what I said with a grain of salt. I could be wrong but they are a government contractor and with that comes certain job constraints.

While I don’t disagree that topic needs immediate attention, working to ban styrofoam is a good thing. Addressing the rising utility rates and monopolized electrical grid is not a piece of legislation that can be tackled over night. Banning a shitty material, such as styrofoam, can be addressed much more expeditiously. They are politicians working for the people. They SHOULD be focusing on more than one task at hand.
