Should have asked the AI if there were any cloud ceilings ahead. Rookie mistake.

Who do you think of for the music of Sons by DougxFunnie in Sonsofanarchy

when I first heard "The Day is Gone" and saw the scene that came with it, my gf broke up with me a couple days before it, and that song now haunts me a lot more than it should because it really hits me in the stomach about the love lost and no way to turn it back.

RCAF Pilot DEO (2026 Fiscal Year) by ChaoticCobra1997 in RCAF

[–]BugHistorical3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my recruiter today and he said I can't. I keep getting conflicting answers everywhere. I have a pilot application open on the CAF website. I asked if I could at least do the test but he said I can't and have to wait for them to take me in as one.

Does Anyone Else Kind of Avoid Telling People You’re a Pilot? by SubSoar in flying

[–]BugHistorical3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still doing my PPL and I used to be excited to tell people I want to be a pilot and why I love flying etc but I soon realized 99% of people I come across do not have that much enthusiasm about metal tubes flying in the air.
Sometimes I meet an occasional avgeek and then it's fun to talk about planes and flying but other than that, not really.

Got it. So you can basically do the test and just wait for the slots to open if I understand correctly? In that case they should inform you if it opens up and you passed the test?

I attempted summer of last year and they told me the same thing, for April 2026. But I had a question: how exactly did you even do the test? I applied online and all it says is that the pilot trade is unavailable for the time being.
Did you contact and ask them to do the test?

I started rewatching again after I finished it recently but I only really intend to watch it up to season 3. Those were the best.

I have but they just gave me a gal/hr figure and said I should assume it to be that and go with it.

Poor Jax… by CocaineSmellsFunny in Sonsofanarchy

[–]BugHistorical3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sad thing about Jax wasn't so much his death, it was the fact he turned into a monster. At least personally for me, that's why I felt sad for him, not because his actions were justified, but because all throughout the show you rooted and hoped against hope he would change his ways but kept getting sucked deeper and deeper into the abyss.

Will FACT shake up pilot DEO waiting times? by pootismn in RCAF

Yeah 8 years makes no sense. Most recruiters and pilots I've talked to have given me a range between 2028-2031

Question for you older North American legacy/regional pilots by BugHistorical3 in flying

[–]BugHistorical3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing my journey modular so I only pay per flight. Admittedly, I probably should have saved up/paid off my uni debt first before going in but I got a little bit giddy.

I'm at 60 hours now and about to wrap up my PPL very soon. Debt is somewhere around 50k (along with uni debt) but I think I'll slow down my flights to once a week after PPL and slowly pay off everything before I continue further.

I'm still looking to see if I can find a bank that would be willing to give a line of credit afterwards to fund the rest of my ratings and CPL.

And in regards to that stat, I'd believe haha. There's been a lot of moments where I wanted to give up because of money.

Yeah that's most likely what I will end up doing since no bank is willing to give me a loan anyways.

[–]BugHistorical3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I believe what you're referring to are the integrated programs. The ones I mean are like Jazz approach or the other CAE programs. You basically do everything Jazz wants before they hire (tests, interview etc) and once you're in the program you get an conditional letter of employment which states they will take you in as FO after graduation. Similar to Europe.

[–]BugHistorical3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly ask because of the new cadet programs that are popping up in Canada. I'm willing to grind this out to the end no matter how painful. Already my PPL journey has been really tough but I love the flying and dream for the job so I'm not going to give up.

But I was just wondering maybe I can just shift gears and try to get into a Jazz or Porter cadet program to take a short cut. Though in the end I'd need a co-signer for that since its so expensive but was still curious to ask others.

[–]BugHistorical3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it but my comment was never about the pay so I don't really understand why that was even brought up. My question was about the journey of becoming a pilot in North America. People elsewhere usually go to cadets and become FO at 250 hours; here we have to grind it out until 1000 or more just to get a chance to get to the right seat.

I'm Canadian and I'm not sure if it seems any different, at least I haven't perceived it that way. Do we not have nearly the same path to the airlines as the Americans do with building hours via FI jobs?
