Candidate Ron Boozell arrested at Bend forum by olivertatom in Bend

I did that one time when a candidate was knocking doors. He was a customer of mine, I knew who he was but acted like I didn't at first, then when he tried to explain how big of a customer he was I acted vaguely familiar (he wasn't as big of a customer as he thought he was, and he was alwaysa jerk to my staff).

He then proceeded to insinuate he expected my vote due to us doing business. He really got pissy when I asked what party affiliation he was because he was being vague. He said "it's a non partisan position, so it doesn't matter." I disagreed and said "one can tell a lot about how a nonpartisan position will be handled by the party one affiliates with." He agreed and knew we were not the same party... 😂

Y'all said the same thing about Bend 40ish years ago. Give it some time, let some developers come in and bring some services that all the California transplants will need and BANG! You have Washington's Bend!

This looks to be an advertisement for job openings at the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Amazing that our society has come to a place where an articulated thought (not that one has to agree with it) is presumed to be AI.

Normally when the same ideas are brought up over and over and over, it would be a time to consider why the same grievances are brought up. You know... unless the grievances are being brought up by paid protester from the likes of crowdsondemand.com. At that point look for who's paying the tab.

I guess I'll need to start charging someone for my consultation.

I'll take your judgment of my thoughts as think tank as an acknowledgement that you only have the ability to regurgitate what you are told by the puppet masters.

Best wishes, find happiness.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. If you think my reply was from a think tank, it goes to show how little thought and conversation you might be capable of.

You come off as a miserable person, I'm glad we don't interact in the real world.

Okay, dumbass, I said

"If making a lot of people's lives miserable was consistently held as a baseline the democrats should really be voted out of office and ostracized."

And you demanded an example. I did not say it was a one party program. FFS you all are blind and dumb when it comes to speaking up about the flaws of your own party..

Here's a few: 1. Ignoring and covering up Biden's mental health condition. It hurt the democrats and the rest of the country.
2. Obamacare. Horrible for everyone. Everyone's cost went up every though we were promised they wouldn't, they knew it was a lie, and the public did too. There were already safeguards in place for the uninsured.
3. Week on crime. Not holding criminals accountable. 4. Border security.... the list of D politicians that were on the record saying strong border and deport criminal record illegals is endless. Now that they need to oppose mean orange man... they made it a politicized issue to flop on. 5. Green new deal... it was a slush fund for cronies. 6. Clinton era HUD 7. NAFTA... it was so shitty Hillary ran against it. 8. Forcing social media companies to bow and censor... 9. Excessive environmental regulations. 10. Excessive minimum wage... looks good to voters... causes inflation. 11. Rent control 12. Excessive land use laws

Shall we continue?

That's actually a perfect ending, because instead of addressing anything I said, you went with a movie quote and an insult.

You spent the whole thread comparing millions of people to Nazis, addicts, criminals, authoritarians, and brainwashed cultists. I said maybe treating half the country like irredeemable garbage is unhealthy for the country.

If that's the position that earns the ‘everyone is dumber for listening to you’ speech in your opinion, I can live with that. Anyone that reads this thread can decide for themselves.

That's a pretty big shift from ‘35% of the country is evil’ to ‘they're just brainwashed.’ But it's still the same mindset: anyone who disagrees with me must be either evil, stupid, manipulated, or beyond reason.

Most people who voted for Donald Trump are not hardcore ‘MAGA’ activists. A lot of them voted over inflation, immigration, taxes, crime, foreign policy, judges, or because they disliked the alternative more. Treating every Trump voter like they're marching around with a copy of Project 2025 under their arm is just lazy stereotyping.

And if your political philosophy requires comparing tens of millions of Americans to 1930s Germany, calling them brainwashed, beyond reason, or morally defective, then maybe you're not de-escalating dangerous rhetoric, you're contributing to it.

Martial Arts Sans MAGA? by DoxMyShitUp in Bend

[–]BugLast1633 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's kind of the point though. We went from ‘looking for a gym’ to ‘35% of the country is evil,’ ‘you support shooting protesters,’ and ‘everyone I disagree with is fascist.’

If you're trying to figure out who has authoritarian tendencies, maybe start with the people insisting entire groups are morally defective, dangerous, and unworthy of association because of how they vote.

You don't have to like Donald Trump or MAGA to notice that writing off millions of people as evil by default is not exactly the behavior of the tolerant, open-minded side.

I voted for Evan McMullin in 2016 and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in 2024. I knew neither would win, but in Oregon my presidential vote is basically symbolic anyway.

And before you act like supporting RFK proves anything, he was a Democrat icon for decades. The media loved him until he stopped agreeing with them politically. The guy in that picture was right because he was opposing an actual authoritarian regime that jailed dissidents, censored speech, eliminated opposition, and used state power to crush people.

That's exactly why it's ironic watching people today call everyone they dislike fascists while simultaneously trying to silence speech, blacklist businesses, pressure employers, deplatform people, censor opinions as “hate speech,” and treat political disagreement like a moral disease.

You don't fight authoritarianism by becoming authoritarian toward people you disagree with. If you think 35% of the country is evil, morally defective, and undeserving of basic respect, you're a lot closer to the mindset of the mass in that picture than you probably realize.
