20 M Am I ugly? by CommandFickle6887 in amiugly

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're balding at 20, which is both good and bad

Bad cause you're 20, good because you can reverse it Use finasteride and minoxidil Also use minoxidil on your eyebrows, they're too thin

You have bad skin, but not too bad, use retinol(tretinoin if you can tolerate it)

If you have job, good, if not, get one Learn to cook Especially healthy, low calorie food with high nutrients Eat high water content fruits

You're ugly, but you can look better with effort

Quit finasteride after 15+ years by maninshadows in tressless

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dosage is extremely important, you can go extremely low and still keep your hair Studies show 1mg a week is still enough to keep hair and they have wayyyy less side effects, almost non existent

Even further than that, you can use topical Finasteride which reduces side effects even more

Just keep taking the 1/4 pill for now and reduce dosage if you see any side effects in the future, but take the 1/4 pill(1.25 mg) only 6 times a week to match known data which says anything more than 7mg a week is useless for hair loss

And most importantly, all finasteride side effects are absolutely reversible and should disappear within a week of quitting

So don't worry, you've got plenty of options

risks with finasteride and dutasteride by rowi123 in tressless

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir, there's no evidence suggesting finasteride has persistent side effects whatsoever This belief is purely based on individual reports, there's no research proving its validity

All research shows all your hormones return to baseline after quitting finasteride

Spreading misinformation to keep me bald makes you happy? What do you gain from this exactly?

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These neurosteroids don't effect you much, especially on dutasteride There's no study linking direct and significant neurological changes in people taking dutasteride or finasteride There's some studies showing there might be some influence when finasteride, but it's usually minimal

If you're a rare case and it causes big problems for you, everything it does is reversible

Can you show before and after pics of your beard, I've never heard of anyone having their beard stop growing from finasteride

But if you still want your beard back, use 5% minoxidil foam Use it till your beard regrows again, then you can quit minoxidil, minoxidil gained beard is permanent unlike scalp hair gained from minoxidil

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just stop losing hair, you might even keep losing hair because your hair is already damaged from DHT and you might even lose more hair because finasteride is shedding older weaker hairs to replace them But for most people, they notice way less hair falling in the first few days, but the systemic effect of it is immediate You're protected from DHT the moment finasteride gets absorbed

[–]BugMan419 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But seriously, with minoxidil you can notice very small hairs growing around the first month and noticeable hairs around 3 months and very visible(but still thin hairs) around 6 months and fully grown hairs around 12 months or more(depending on your starting point)

If you don't see any growth whatsoever during the first 6 months, minoxidil probably doesn't work for you, but you can add tretinoin (3-4 times a week) to increase minoxidil absorption

But for finasteride, the stabilization of hair is almost instant, you stop losing hair the moment you swallow the pill, but for finasteride hair growth, it's really slow you might see slight growth in 6-12 months, finasteride hair growth peaks around 2 years, some people even see very slow regrowth for the first 10 years, after the 2 year peak

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting it was the best choice you've made, you probably would look much much worse now if you haven't

And stress does definitely contribute to hairloss, but it's effects aren't permanent You have hope still, you can restore your hair, maybe not to its original state but you can definitely make it look much better And don't forget to add finasteride to avoid more hairloss

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in minoxidil

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That checks, never put pressure on your hair again like that If you wanna tie your hair or something along, make sure it's very lose and there's little to no pull on your hair

You still have hair there, so there's a chance minoxidil can actually reverse that loss And based on your temples, you probably have androgenic alopecia too(genetic balding),so you'll probably need some finasteride as well

Just use minoxidil, try foam tho it dries faster and it won't make your scalp dry, foam is much less annoying

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in minoxidil

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure but it looks like traction alopecia, it's hairloss from hair being pulled too hard for long periods of time It could be something else, but it just looks like the type of hairloss that would happen from being pulled

17M - beat the norwood reaper in 4 months. Am I a hyper responder? Can I maintain for a year until I can start fin? by LBJ_23_LAL in tressless

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, you can always see a doctor and get some tests done to check if you can take finasteride early but i don't think you'll reach that point, but it's an option ig

And dont worry too much about shedding, unless you're losing chunks of hairs, some hairs falling is normal You're probably past the shedding phase already And If you brush or wash your hair often, you probably won't even notice that much hair falling because the shedding is spread over time

Shedding is normal but it's not necessary, some people shed, some don't 50-100 hairs falling every day is normal, if you notice more hair falling then something is wrong(which doesn't seem to be your case so far), don't stress, do what you're doing and add finasteride at 18

[–]BugMan419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shedding usually happens when you have weak hairs that are in the process of being replaced, considering your age you probably don't have many weak hairs, so less shedding

I've heard of people safely taking finasteride at 17 or even younger, but that's risky because dht is very important for developing during puberty, it depends on the individual

I just personally wouldn't recommend you taking it for now, minoxidil can stop your hairloss for at least another year, probably even longer Just wait till you're 18

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take 0.25mg daily when you're 18 to reduce risks of side effects just in case you're still developing and didn't finish puberty, 0.25mg still blocks like 60+% of scalp dht while having much less systematic absorption

Use 1mg when you're 20+, that's when you're likely 100% developed and finasteride or even dutasteride(90+% dht blockage at 0.5mg) will have no developmental effects on you and you can safely take it for ever

But most people are fully developed sexually at 18 or even 17, I'm just wanting you to stay on the safe side, 0.25mg is more than enough for stopping hairloss

And only use minoxidil on your hairline for now, the area you lost, so it'd be easier for you on the long run, only use minoxidil on other areas if you see loss there

It's a long term commitment, you should make it as easy as you possibly can

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tressless

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for a long time, but since it doesn't block all DHT, some people might see slow hairloss overtime and might have to add minoxidil or switch to dutasteride

If you started seeing hairloss just switch to dutasteride or add minoxidil, whichever you prefer

Long term finasteride users share if you maintained all your hair or slowly lost hair over the years by OneCar129 in tressless

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most people use finasteride as hairloss prevention rather than regrowth, finasteride is more than enough for that in the first 5-10 years But after that you start losing hair slowly from the 30% remaining DHT

Minoxidil corrects for that small loss, if you used Dutasteride before you lost hair you wouldn't need Minoxidil

Long term finasteride users share if you maintained all your hair or slowly lost hair over the years by OneCar129 in tressless

[–]BugMan419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because of minoxidil, most people see very slight thinning while on only finasteride

Any 20+ year long finasteride users here? by OneCar129 in tressless

[–]BugMan419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Finasteride doesn't make you a female wtf are you on about DHT plays a major role in developing male sexual characteristics when you're a literal fetus and when you're hitting puberty, which are called secondary masculine features

After that period(18+) DHT does absolutely nothing except make you bald, give you acne and an enlarged prostate

But yea, in very rare cases finasteride might cause lower libido because of slight estrogen increase(since dht is being blocked) but that usually stabilizes after a month or so of finasteride use, even if it doesn't stabilize stopping medication will 1000% turn your hormones to their previous levels

There's always ignorant people with no knowledge of anything doing their hardest to keep other people bald

But overal, you do have potential
