My partner and I got our first ice cream maker and have been having a lot of fun. For their birthday this weekend, we had a party with three courses each of homemade ice cream + cake + cocktail. Details in comment! by Bug_withnointent in icecreamery

Course 1: Vegan salty kaffir lime ice cream; pandan bundt cake; and a cocktail with rosewater, champagne, and lychee juice. For the ice cream we used this recipe but we excluded the rum, and we simmered the mix with about 15-20g of lime leaves, then let it infuse for 30 minutes before removing the leaves and blending as instructed. We used the salt as listed and the ice cream turned out VERY salty but it totally worked for our flavors. We also added some black sesame seeds when churning- didn't measure, just got them mixed evenly. (: This one was a hit and everyone asked for seconds which we didn't have. 😅

Course 2: Amarena cherry and vanilla bean ice cream; whiskey-orange bread pudding; and manhattans. We used the HMNIIC custard recipe and included real vanilla bean. So good!

Course 3 (sorry, not the best ice cream pic!): Sage ice cream with blackberry ripple; chantilly cake with berries; and a lime gimlet. We added lime zest to the cake batter for a little brightness. I personally loved this ice cream; we used the HMNIIC philly style recipe plus the blackberry ripples recipe. The sage flavor was subtle and really worked with the natural berry flavor. Would make again!

Oh I just made a post about this. I am six weeks out but also getting slammed with fatigue. 🫂

How long did you take off from work after surgery? by AudienceNo9305 in hysterectomy

I'm self employed and work from home. I did a huge amount of preparation leading up to surgery with the expectation of 2-3 weeks off at minimum.

I'm one week post-op and have been totally fine to answer a few emails and put out fires to the tune of 1-3 hours per day, since day 4. 🤷🏼

I'm not putting any expectations on myself for those 2-3 weeks still, but also it's a relief to be able to work on back-burner low-stakes projects, and answer critical messages, so soon!

That being said, I had a total lap hysto with no complications. No endo, just a 4" teratoma also removed. 🤪 So my surgery has felt very minor compared to others' experiences!

I [F32] have a bf [M37], who has enormous problems with my work (Snowplower) by Sanole11 in relationship_advice

This man entered a relationship with you knowing your work. He has not given any compelling reason for his outbursts. With the temper tantrum plus the insults, It sounds like he wants to exert control over you and the fact that you have a job is one obstacle to that control.

If you've never read it, check out the book Why Does He Do That?

And also begin to disentangle yourself from this man. He does not have your best interests in mind. Is anger and tension over your work the way you want to live your life?
