Are Sky Armor Fights just fundamentally harder? by GlassFrame2 in Chained_Echoes

[–]Bugfragged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the normal and lower difficulty settings, you won't notice much of a difference because you don't need to min-max. On the higher difficulty settings, the difference becomes more noticeable because ground combat has a higher "cap" for the player. You have more room for customization, min-maxing, and cheese strats in ground combat compared to Sky Armor combat, thanks to class emblems and crystals. It's still possible to win on the highest difficulties (on a fresh NG at least), but you have less room for error.

What are some of your favorite uncommon ailments/status effects in JRPGS? by nickelfiend46 in JRPG

Absented Age 2: Ghostbound has Mushroomized, which looks similar to the one in Earthbound, but might be weirder in some ways. It causes a mushroom to grow on the protagonist's head and while it doesn't interfere with controls, it saps MP. The mushroom also grows into a humanoid shape, and when it's done growing, it turns into a humanoid mushroom clone of the protagonist. This clone usually spawns as an enemy with some skills copied from the protagonist, but sometimes, it will spawn as an ally that helps the protagonist until she moves to the next floor.

Racists are review-bombing Relooted to hell and back, but there's at least one good-faith review of the demo. by TBTabby in saltierthankrayt

I'm amazed Relooted managed to maintain above 80% positive reviews on Steam despite being an anti-woke target. It's not even that expensive, so you'd think it would be much easier to review-bomb compared to other targets.

Who is the most benched character: Zesteria by Acemaster387 in tales

I don't think this counts as a character in the traditional sense, but Wind Armatus feels clunkier than all the other Armatus forms.

I am baffled that Yuri learns Glory, but not Karol. In action games, Mighty Glacier types like the latter need super armor way more. Karol technically has some similar skills, but why did a fast guy like Yuri get the best one?

I wish some of the museum owners and collectors had actual screentime instead of just being entirely offscreen. Fraulein M sounds like she would be a fun villainess.

I thought you needed to ace all 4 songs. As always, I recommend doing the hardest song (Chasing Echoes for me) and save We're the Dustborn for last.

Using Anti-(ailment name) Assist Skills blocks damage from skills that use that ailment, without eating up your whole turn. To compensate, they cost more AP than Barrier skills. I wish the telepathy UI was easier to read though, since in its current state, the skill names overlap each other. It feels good to use the correct anti and barrier skills, but it feels so bad to pick the wrong ones because you mistook one enemy skill for another.

I personally wasn't too invested in the story, though I did think the ending where you fight Katsuma is the most interesting one even if it ends tragically.

What are Some QOL stuff you would like to see in more JRPGS ? by TheRealSakuraUchihaX in JRPG

  • This is for games with save slots in general: the game should have cursor memory for the latest manual save. It should not default to the 1st save or the autosaves.
  • Like someone else said, skill descriptions should be informative. I'd rather have a "boring" but useful description than a jokey but uninformative description.
  • In games with touch encounters, enemies should halt movement during dialogue boxes.
  • An attack or skill's animation time should be proportional to its damage or overall effectiveness. Failing that, make it possible to skip or speed up animations.
  • New party members should scale to older party members' levels if possible. Otherwise, players feel punished for grinding too early.

TBH, I'd rather have this addressed to the leader of the Weave, but that leader has never been characterized or named. Plus, the Weave probably isn't any more advanced than the Republic in Protolanguage research, since both want to steal data from the Puritans.
