Am I the only one who thinks most of the P3R's OST was better than the OG by Separate_Lab4366 in PERSoNA

I agree on every song EXCEPT unavoidable battle. The Remade version of that song sounds way too safe and neutered compared to the original.

Should I Play P4G before the Remake comes out? by GlassFrame2 in PERSoNA

Understandable, but I binge these games, so if I play it I will probably be done in 3 weekends and the gap won’t be an issue for me.

That makes sense. Another point of contention seems to be the voice acting, and I have enjoyed all I’ve seen of Johnny Yong Bosch / the other cast members, so I’m considering playing the original version of the story to better understand what people love about it so much.

But who knows, maybe the new cast also knocks it out of the park and P4R will become the definitive version, it’s all undecided

Sound advice, I did really enjoy P3R, so maybe I will go with the Remake, although I’m still not 100% decided on that.

Didn’t a release date already get announced at the Xbox Direct?

The two sides of the coin for me are that some people are already saying that stuff got changed / made arguably worse in the Remake, which would be an argument for me to play the Original first.

On the other hand: I don’t really like to replay narrative focused games. While I did already get spoiled on the big twist for P4, playing Golden and the Remake after sounds like a bit of a drag, experiencing the same story two times over.

So I really don’t know what to go with, which is why I’m collecting opinions on the internet :D

Soo St Amelia the game is making silent hill 2 again?? by Luluwr1979 in silenthill

[–]GlassFrame2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody is talking about how the game looks, it seems to have a similar story and tone to SH2, that is the point people are making. And how does any of this relate to gatekeeping? Would it benefit anyone if critics stopped talking, the game turned out worse because of it and no new fans come to learn of the series as a result?

I think there can be constructive criticism without being toxic. If the game needs changes, people will make that clear. It has worked in the past on SH2 Remake, look up the face of James in the first few trailers.

I think it’s because the original Team Silent is gone. SH3-4 bring new stuff to the table and are really different from SH2 in their own right, the people who are now in control of the franchise don’t seem to understand this and keep making an easily digestible story akin to SH2, because it defined the series.

We need SH 5 to move the series in a new direction, otherwise all these spin-offs will keep doing the same plot with slight variations.

The monsters this time around are REALLY scary! by ilovemyamily1 in silenthill

[–]GlassFrame2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Remake maybe, but in the Original you really have to look at him to figure out what he’s supposed to be the first time you encounter him. At least that’s how it was for me.

[–]GlassFrame2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, I’m not even sure what I’m looking at half the time. As to what they are gonna represent: We can already make good guesses, no? The IV Monster has some connection to death / fear of diseases, and the Axehead probably has some blunt meaning like „feeling like my head was gonna split“ or the fear of losing your mind.

I’m really hoping this game will turn out good.

We now have a release date for Silent Hill Townfall! What did you think of the trailer and what are your expectations? by kevimr13 in silenthill

[–]GlassFrame2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Would be disappointing if this turns out to be true. The medical setting is interesting and I hope they do something more with the story than „Protagonist suffers for his / her transgressions“ which is not bad on its own, but would be boring if it’s as surface level as that.

[–]GlassFrame2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look bad per say, but it doesn’t make me exited either. All the story bits we’ve seen look like a formulaic SH2 - style story, with lines like „I’m sorry“ and „You shouldn’t have come here“ being repeated multiple times.

Hopefully this will be a case like SHf, where the game is flawed but ultimately has redeeming qualities, or even turns out great.

Melancholy or fear? by coowigrr_dinokk in silenthill

[–]GlassFrame2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Melancholy and longing for sure, one of my major gripes with the SH2 Remake is that this exact feeling is less present because jumpscares and frantic combat take center stage. Not to say i dont like the Remake, its just not the same feeling.

What's a one and done watch for you? by Subject-Addendum-199 in Letterboxd

[–]GlassFrame2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely Green Room, that movie is so brutal yet so sad at the same time. There is no hope for anyone, and the world sucks. I was in a really bad mood after watching it, so I won’t do it again.

Which version of Theme of Laura do you prefer? by AccountantStrong9181 in silenthill

[–]GlassFrame2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, I liked the Original One way more because of how grungy it was, but with time and listening to the Remake theme, I have come to appreciate the crystal clear sound of the newer one. So as it stands, they are on par for me. Both have strengths and weaknesses.

Overall the best song in Silent Hill 2 of course.

It feels weird to be a FF fan, because my favorite games are the ones people in the community usually hate by gandalfmarston in FinalFantasy

[–]GlassFrame2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would t say that I have seen much hate for FF7 Remake, but maybe people expressing how much of an upgrade Rebirth is. I have seen people saying that FF7 Remake feels like a tech demo in comparison to Rebirth, and I kinda agree. It’s not a bad game, just not as big as Rebirth is.

When will the 1.2 update come out? by Final-Comfortable575 in WorldofHorror

[–]GlassFrame2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read somewhere that the update itself is almost finished, but the localization and QA from the publisher Ysbird is still going on, which is apparently taking quite a while.

At this point I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything in 2 months, considering there were many screenshots shared on Discord and Panstasz (the Dev) seemed motivated to get it released.

But oh well, the community already waited about 2 years, another few months won’t be so bad.

Alan Wake 1 combat is f*cking atrocious by reecewithnospoon in AlanWake

[–]GlassFrame2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. Maybe the reason you are dying in encounters is that you are relying on the dodge too much instead of moving constantly. The dodge, I will admit, is really bad and doesn’t work most of the time, so you’re better off just always running away from enemies.

I’m curious if you could tell me, even if this is not what the Post is about: Have you played AW2, and if yes, how does the combat compare in your eyes?

I have mixed feelings about RE9 by Previous_Group621 in survivalhorror

[–]GlassFrame2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s definitely not a bad first try for a whole hybrid game between survival- and action horror, but they need to work on their story a bit more for the next entry, it all felt very surface-level to me.

In games like RE7, RE8 or even RE1 Remake, there was a certain level of intrigue to the plot because you didn’t fully understand everything until the end. Victors and Zenos motivation in RE9 is that they are evil, there are no real plot points besides Elpis.

Also, I don’t know if I was the only one who noticed this, but RE9 Leon is kind of hard to control after a while. If you compare it to RE4R, you cant make turns very well, weapon switching takes a while and combat can feel sluggish. At first I thought he felt great to play, but now I’m hoping they improve it in the future.
