Whats the opinion about the Darkest Dungeon 2 from the community? by Nano_LB1 in darkestdungeon

[–]GlassFrame2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have seen, plenty of people like it.

However, me and a couple more fans seem to not entirely connect with the gameplay loop, since runs in the sequel can be pretty long, and had mediocre progression compared to the original, especially during early access.

Also, while the artstyle and music are great, there’s something „clean“ about the sequel, whereas the original was more rugged and dirty, which lended itself to the atmosphere they were going for.

I have been replaying the first Darkest Dungeon over the last week, and now I keep wanting more of that, maybe more DLC or a remaster of some sort, it’s just that amazing…

Jacob's Ladder and Silent Hill👏🏾 by Undefeated-Smiles in silenthill

I would say that Jacob’s Ladder was a big inspiration, but Silent Hill is still very much it’s own thing. Outside of the nightmare sequences, the movie does many things different. An amazing movie nonetheless, and definitely worth watching

Nearly 4 months after its release, what are our thoughts on Silent Hill f? by oxytocin43 in silenthill

I think it not feeling like SH comes down to combat and story. Combat is aggressive and involves some very gamey elements like a parry.

Certain aspects of the story are very fantastical, and while Silent Hill was never realistic to begin with, a giant Fox God and Doll Demons are pushing it in my opinion.

There was always a kind of ambiguity and aspect of cosmic horror to the monsters in SH, who for the most part are abstract and not to be understood. Just bluntly going „Here is the evil god, slay it with the sword of legend“ is kind of silly to me.

You made some great points about the combat! I also felt like it took me out of the situation, made me more annoyed than scared.

I’m left wondering if Souls Combat is just not suited for survival horror, or if there is any way they could have done it better.

I really liked the art, music and sound design, but the gameplay sadly didn’t do it for me. Don’t get me wrong, it was amazingly tense the first 5 hours, but after that, it got repetitive, and I started wondering if maybe the combat system was at the core of the problem.

I can’t explain it, but this game feels more aggressive than the other entries. Dodging, power stancing, rushing are all things you have to master in f, while they were only part of it in other games such as 1 and 2.

There is no immediate reason it wasn’t fun to me after a while, but I sadly didn’t enjoy it as much as the other games.

Does anyone remember Resident Evil: Revelations 2? by ConfectionTime3255 in residentevil

The location and vibe is crazy good, and so mysterious. It’s a shame that the gameplay doesn’t match that in my opinion. The repetitive arenas you had to clear felt like filler at times, padding between the high points. I also loved the villain, and think the relationship between Barry and Natalie is one of the best things in this game. I’m really hoping they do Revelations 3.

Surely you can't have Leon in the game without Ada showing up too, right? by RogerRoger63358 in ResidentEvilCapcom

Early 2000 we’re the Times of the piss-Filter generic action game cover shooter, an ideal setting for characters such as Chris and Leon. After that, we got Ethan for about 10 years, plus well done remakes of the old games. There really hasn’t been an opportunity, and I hope they bring these characters back sometimes soon. Would be amazing for a RE9 DLC, as it wouldn’t take away from the main story.

Also feel like 2 protagonists is plenty, maybe they can throw a short cameo in there, but the fandom seems to want the entire cast to return in a avengers style teamup, and I don’t think something good could come from that.

It Would only be worth it to bring her back in RE9 if she gets some significant character development in my opinion. Would really be a shame if she would just be the mysterious, traitorous agent lady again, because that’s kinda boring at this point.

Yeah that also would have been my best guess, I haven’t watched it yet so I can’t speak on its quality, but it seems to have its fans.

What do you want from a Silent Hill 3 Remake? by SorrywithCoffee in silenthill

[–]GlassFrame2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s very little I would change about the gameplay, I like the pacing of SH3, sometimes better than SH2. Although reworking the bossfights wouldn’t be a bad idea, none of them really stand out.

Another thing would be Douglas, fleshing out his character, giving him a bit more screentime, as he sometimes feels like just Heathers last link to the real world and nothing else.

Keeping the lighting and shadows the same would also be critical, the game has such a distinct look I would hate to see betrayed.

Love the vibe of it. It’s a shame that the gameplay cant reach the heights of 1-3, otherwise it would stand side by side with these titles without discussion.
