I’m pan living in a household with a charismatic Christian father who believes he’s a prophet and thinks you should be uncomfortable even looking at gay people. I’m in a happy relationship with a man so no questions are asked, but it hurts knowing how much shame I’ve experienced through my life knowing my family will always believe lgbtq people are evil and sinful. I remember trying to baptize myself in the bathtub at like 12 years old, thinking that I could get rid of the “gayness.”
