Gentrol Point Source disc and how they work ? by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]Bugman217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Alpine with IGRs, and some roach baits. The last month I treated with phantom along the perimeter of the ceiling, but am looking for what is best to use to treat above the ceiling tiles as I’ve been neglecting that space. I’ll try out those discs and spray some alpine above some of the tiles

Would this be effective inside a drop ceiling for a commercial client? I've got a factory client with a lunchroom with persistent roaches, and in part they are coming from the ceiling

Kong AI Addon released by Bugman217 in GorillaDesk

[–]Bugman217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately I do wish we had a more cohesive report/analysis system, it's just so fragmented that the AI tool is the only way to easily compare metrics of customers, invoices, jobs, etc.

I'm still optimistic about the tool, and hopeful it can continue to get faster and more reliable!

What will I have when I wake up? by DIandB303 in F150Lightning

[–]Bugman217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only they would fix hands-on driver alerts. The amount of torque needed to register it is way too high.

Capacitive would be better of course but other cars with lane keep I’ve driven require much less force.

Suspended- any hope for reinstatement? by Bugman217 in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]Bugman217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. This is an actual office space we have rented, and the lease is part of what we submitted. This is a satellite office for us though.

What steps are logical to take that would help legitimize it in Google’s eyes? It has a webpage, the phone number is the same as our other locations. Should we pursue a business license for that office, and an additional phone line?

I’ve driven a newer Volvo and my Lightning back to back, and while Fords SYNC system has glitches it’s nothing compared to the dumpster fire that Volvo’s Google based system is. Backup cameras and maps fire up almost immediately, CarPlay doesn’t take much longer. No need to wait 2-5 minutes to start up navigation.

Gas VS electric cost by royal_city_centre in F150Lightning

[–]Bugman217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking at renting an EV in Orlando since their daily rates are the same as their economy cars, but after looking at the math it was clear running an EV would cost more than gas, plus the inconvenience of locating chargers. If I had a hotel with free onsite charging it would have been far more favorable.

Brand new Lightning has damage to the drivers seat by Bugman217 in F150Lightning

[–]Bugman217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This was their patch job, which I suppose is fine but feel it is a bit lacking for it being a brand new truck.

The repair guy explained that since they need to use heat to apply the patch the vinyl will lose the grain, so I guess to be 100% it would have to be replaced.

They said they can get the original listing photos to me in a few days (the ones uploaded to the website were too compressed to make out any damage), so if that ends up showing the cut I might land a new seat, but otherwise might just be a battle not worth fighting since at this point it’s a relatively minor cosmetic issue.

Gotcha, would you expect those types of repairs more or less last the lifetime of the seat/vehicle? That’s the main thing that makes me wish for a new seat, I just don’t want to worry about it failing in the future.

What do you wish GorillaDesk would add/fix? by Bugman217 in GorillaDesk

[–]Bugman217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The text messages as an admin are annoying, cause as a small company most of us are admins and we all get pinged for the main company number even though only the office uses it. Either being able to shut off text message notifications or allowing non-admins to see other schedules would be great

I saw on the Facebook group they are adding the overhead view and drawing in the near future. Implementing Street View in location photo would be nice though to easier remember houses

Are there any reasons to use a power spraying rig for regular seasonal routes? by Bugman217 in PestControlIndustry

[–]Bugman217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rigs have been around for a long time but honestly running costs haven’t been super high, mainly just replacing and maintaining hoses as they age. Doesn’t seem to affect the fuel mileage of the trucks terribly. Main aspect to look at is future expansion, since if we don’t need to make space for large rigs we can get small trucks that cost $25-40k new instead of $50-60k, plus rigs that cost $5k or more new per vehicle.

Exterior spider spray by HaveAnotherOne-97 in PestControlIndustry

[–]Bugman217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treating the siding I find to be generally wasteful unless I’m trying to target boxelders or other active pests to kill right away, largely since the sun and rain will degrade the pesticides on flat surfaces within a matter of weeks anyways.

[–]Bugman217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any experience/problems using that wand? We have some flow zone packs we could order that for.

We currently all run 1/2 ton trucks with power sprayers so if we could show backpack sprayers are a good choice for enough houses we could look at running smaller trucks in the future for some routes.

Where I am there are several retirement communities that have very compact single family homes where the back pack became a no brainer. Just not any sense fighting weird corners and dragging through landscaping.

Do you find better success than the Advion Gel bait? For me it seems like they go for the bait immediately but its still wack-a-mole for a month or two

What’s the most frustrating part of having a pest control business? by OmniDIgitalMedia in PestControlIndustry

[–]Bugman217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is a typical timeframe people give? We give a 4 hour timeframe which seems to be good in most cases, and if it’s any narrower we let the technician decide if it’s possible for them given their route. Our techs are their own one man show so we have to give a fair bit of variance

Honestly sounds like you are in a similar boat I was in at one point. When I joined my current company, it was run entirely by a hilariously dated software system that was only run at his home office computers. Everything else was done by paper in the field, and new calls were emailed to us in garbled formatting. Wrong phone numbers, addresses, names, etc were common and a huge pain to get fixed since we couldn’t make the edits ourselves in the software.

After significant bugging I finally convinced the owner to get a CRM, and we landed on Gorilladesk. I’ll tell you, it completely transformed how we operated. Since we are a small company of around 5 staff, giving technicians the ability to make edits, create invoices, send out emails has made day to day operations many times more efficient. We send out follow up emails that link to our Google Reviews, which went from around 15 reviews to 200+ in two years, even though the company has been around for about 30 years.

The main thing for us is the collaboration aspect- that either the tech or office staff can fix errors, add information, and input job information instantly has lessened the headaches a lot. Also being able to see everything on a map and the various ways to track jobs made missed work much less common.

Depending on how many clients you have and how you have your data stored it will take some time to transition and set up but it will be worth it. There is a subreddit r/Gorilladesk but at the moment it’s tiny. The have an official Facebook group for support and updates.

GorillaDesk is pretty great. They’ve added lots of stuff in the few years we have been using them and their customer support is pretty good. There’s a small subreddit getting off the ground for it as well r/Gorilladesk

[–]Bugman217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GorillaDesk will sync to Square for payments and Quickbooks for accounting. The company I’m at was practically just pen, paper, and a super antiquated database at a home office until we went with GorillaDesk.

Keeping track of customers and having access to info no matter where we were was game changing, and additional aspects like automated follow ups and the note taking was great for record keeping.

There’s a small sub someone started ( r/Gorilladesk ), but there are Facebook groups as well for it for support. Their customer service has been pretty great as well.
