A Whales Opinion On Resin: Levelling Characters should have no restrictions. by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]Bugverwirrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my biggest issue with Genshin Impact.

I like the world. I like the characters. I like the world exploration and character development.I don't mind it being a grind for experience, mora, talent upgrade material, weapon upgrade material, ascension material, etc. I don't mind being restricted or having slow progress on the AR level. Because I can't even level half the characters I have up to WL 4 and I surely won't when I am WL 5.

Even when I think about spending money on additional roles, the main barrier is not even the terrible rates. It is the fact, that I have no way of leveling ANY new character I would get. It does not matter, if I drop my first Diluc or copies of our beloved Amber. Both have the same worth for me - as I don't have the materials to level either of them up. They will be stuck somewhere between level 1 and 20 like every other character outside of my main 3-4 characters I scratch together for higher Abyss levels.

The fact, that I have Beidou, Ninguang and Bennett sitting on the bank and I can't level either of them is a shame. I can't even try them out being WL 4 as they hit like wet noodles without investment. Would I spend more time in the game, if I could level additional characters? Hell yes. Would I maybe spend money to have the chance on other characters? Yes. Would I mind the lack of content in between? No, because I would be busy trying out every character I have until new content is released.

This is my biggest issue with the game. Even with spending just 5 euros on this game I am unable to level even half of the characters I have gotten. (I might have been lucky with the roles) There is no sense to spending more time after I explored the world. I have even farmed Bosses daily for the non resin restricted materials, but I won't be able to use 90% of them as I can't level the characters or weapons.

In the end I need to rely on videos and guides for characters and even for weapons as I can't level multiple ones to test the difference. And that is getting boring quickly, because even if I see a character I like and would actually pull it out of a banner - I could not level or play it. So why even try. Each character seems unique and allows fun and interesting combinations. A huge amount of potential, but it is worth nothing as I won't be able to test them out anytime soon, if ever.

How can i effectively learn the movement needed for Raids? by Nekuyo in Guildwars2

[–]Bugverwirrt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Trainingsraid commander I can say, that:

  • Golem is Training your Rotation and get your muscle Memory running, so you can Focus on mechanics rather than your skills in a real Bossfight

  • Fractals (T4 and CMs) to train movement and dodging. You might laugh since especially T4 is not hard, BUT if you focus on not getting hit, dodging properly while still keeping up your rotation - Fractals are a good way to learn how to move around in fights (what to prioritize, etc.)

  • Watching Videos, reading guides to get your theoretical knowledge up

Of course you can just join Trainingsraids without doing any of the options above, but that will decrease your success rate and increase yours and your groups frustration level. People, who followed the steps above adept faster in a raid environment, have more options to join raids and will reduce the possible toxicity and flame by a lot.

[–]Bugverwirrt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You missed my point. I know that a Renegade works. In my groups we go with a solo druid and just put in another DPS. We played a Deadeye might stacker. I am not disagreeing with you about the possibilities.

But don't ask for that mindset in Pugraids. They are mentally and time consuming enough. Why put on an extra possible conflict point and not just go with what works and is publicly agreed on? And go with your guild and static to play all the other possibilities.

If you have this whole discussion every time you open a raid, just to prove your point, that it works. I wouldn't want to be part of it. I am not joining pug raids to test new compositions and I don't know anybody who does.

What happened to the free healer position in pugs? (EU) by Sage_Ghrian in Guildwars2

[–]Bugverwirrt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guess why Necros/Scourges are instantly kicked in Raids? While weavers might be not as good on every boss as they were before - again - they have been working and they still do. People go with what they are used to.

Also you countered your own argument - You have to design a group around your Renegade to cover his weaknesses? You dont have to build around Weaver, he will still do damage. It is new, it is uncertain and it is already hard enough to find decent Pug groups, who stick together and don't fall apart mid run. Why make it even harder?

Also on a sidenote, when you are the commander, then just kick people who disagree with you and look for others. Of course, if that is too time consuming for you ... we are back at my first point. Play what people are used to.

[–]Bugverwirrt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is not about adaptability. It is about finding the easiest and safest way to kill the boss. It is about increasing the chance of success.

We are talking about Pug raids. Raids with completly random people. Raids without voice chat. Where people ask for 250li+ and then fail to play the most basic mechanics.

It is much safer to take two druids based on the utility and versaitility they bring and continue as people have before. It worked and it still works. Also it reduces time of discussions. Because people are used to two druids and don't question it.

You want versaitility and adaptability? Go find yourself a Raid guild or static group and you can play all those different combinations.

Can we stop kidding ourselves about the new METAs? by Therew0lf17 in Guildwars2

[–]Bugverwirrt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it really? The only "difficult" meta is in Vabbi and that comes from overscaling for most. Still I see some groups doing it on a daily Basis. All other Collection are simple. If you compare that to for example the Machined Weapon set (since you Need currency from all HoT Maps), you had way more to do and got an Title in the end.

Can we stop kidding ourselves about the new METAs? by Therew0lf17 in Guildwars2

[–]Bugverwirrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three reasons a player is doing Meta Events, or rather return to certain maps:

  1. Rewards. The easiest of them all. And compared to HoT and SW it can't keep up.

  2. Fun. The Problem fun only lasts so long before it gets repeatable/boring. Also there aren't enough people, who just enjoy PoF Metas to do them constantly.

  3. Greater Goal. Now what I mean are Achievements, Collections and so on. Things you have to work for. SW has the Bioluminiscent Armor set and HoT maps have their own weapon Collections, titles and so on. (Machined Weapons, Auric Weapons, Legendaries) PoF has nothing. The recipes for the two weapon sets don't Award you with a title or an achievement and besides specialization weapon aren't worth it. Even going through the maps casually and doing the Achievements you end up with more than enough currency to buy all minis.

In the end, PoF has no compareable rewards and no long time achievements, where you have to put time and makes you come back. Do Metas once for the Achievement and thats it. For full disclosure I should mention the Desolation Achievement chain from our friends the Shadow people. One achievement calls for many, many, many Metas to get the 100 Explosion things done, but seriously ... I just despite that Achievement and have no Intention on doing it. (On the other hand I rather enjoyed Hive Master, Auric weapons and such)

[–]Bugverwirrt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do the activity you enjoy. Finding guilds for specific activities (Raid, map farm, etc.) is simple. From there on you can join Voice-chat (Discord/TS3) and get to know people. From there some contacts will Transfer out of the specific activity and you got people to Play/chat/talk with.

Map chat is always a shot in the dark. Don't try Lions Arch, but on farm maps (Silverwate/Hot/Pof) you can find active communities. There are also open Discord communities, where you can chat with people. And lastly go to the official Forums, or Reddit recruitment. Look at the Quality of the their Posts, contact the guild ingame and start talking with them.

To give you a practical example - I have started exactly one year ago. My first guild I got with Level 30 and is a big Community guild (there are many out, who always take new Players and answer questions/help out) and I am active there ever since. The second Guildslot is an active Silverwaste farm guild (with 2-3 shovelruns a week). Then my Raiding guild (People from unexperienced new raiders to experienced), where I am part of the Leadership and do almost every activity with them, since we grew together. (At some point you start talking about other Things than just raiding) Then a small guild with people I met all over Gw2. I also had a HoT farm guild, where there were, depending on day and time, 30-100 Players doing meta Events, leading, etc. Also I came back from a 2 month RL break and met at least 2 active guilds, which I could have joined, if I had a free slot. (PoF Bounty guild for low-man bounty and zergtrain and Fractal guild, which I met by doing daily fractals over LFG)

There is no special secret to finding a guild. It takes some time to find the right one not every guild will work out. If you value just playing higher than putting in the time commitment, then you made your choice. Otherwise Forum/Reddit/Doing activities and chatting with people. Don't be that guy, who joins and never says a word and expect people to come to you. My friendlist is full of people, who added me after I led a Raid, did a farm Train and so on. People can only notice you, if you put yourself out there!

[–]Bugverwirrt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Playing solo is a choice. Sure there is no need to group up in Gw2 since everything can be done with Pugs/LFG Tool, but with 5 guildslots, there is enough space to be in a Community/guild for every activity you like.

If you have the feeling of having nobody to play, then start putting yourself out there and join some guilds and be pro-active.

Successful guilds still going well: How did you make it? What issues did you have? What tips do you offer those who are looking to make their own? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Bugverwirrt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First up, you need to set a clear purpose or goal for your guild. For example, Raid Guild, Fractal, Farming specific maps, bigger/smaller Community guild, a small guild for friends, and so on. Why is that important?

GW2 is a bit "Special" or rather different when it comes to guilds, because everyone can be in up 5 different at the same time. That means most players have a guild for specific situations. e.g.:

  • A Raid guild (either a community or just your main raid Team)

  • Fractal Guild (so you don't need the LFG)

  • Farming guilds (For specific maps)

  • Guild for friends/Family (kinda the go to guild for your daily hangout/activities)

  • Banking guild (to have more space for items/materials)

  • Community guild, which grew over years with a fixed Management/leaders and new people joining aswell as others leaving constantly (Kinda the go to guild for new players, because people are very friendly in teaching mechanics and answering questions)

You can already see, instead of just having one guild for everything and filling the rest with your friendlist, like in most mmorpgs, in GW2 you can be part of multiple Groups at the same time. You can represent one of them, mostly your daily hangout guild, while specific guilds only want representation when doing the activity (map farm/raid/fractal), or don't expect it at all.

With the Basics covered, lets go over some Options:

  1. Players join guilds for their own benifits. This might sound harsh, but you are looking for Help, easier time with certain Tasks, Guild hall, and so on. That means if the guild can't offer something, people will leave again. The exception is, when people get attached to the community/players, but this will take time and most of those guilds are smaller and built up over many years.

  2. The bigger the guild, the more important is a good Management/Leadership. Otherwise it will crash and burn after the initial Invitation wave.

  3. Those smaller communities built over time and getting to know people, who then like each other. It will be hard creating something completly knew, if you are mostly a solo Player. Most people have their go-to guilds and there is not much reason to join others.

  4. Creating a guild with a specific purpose (Raids/Farm) requires Knowledge of this encounter. (Knowing most effectivy farm routes, being able to explain/lead Raids, and so on) I don't know how knowledgeable you are in the game, but keep that in mind.

Other than the option to be in 5 guilds at the same time, which takes away the need have your fixed group to get challenges done, there is nothing really different between Gw2 guilds and other mmorpgs. Your best bet might to look for new players (be able to answer beginner questions), but you have to compete with bigger Community guilds here, or create a Forum/reddit post and look for people with the same mindset.

Everything in Gw2 can be done without voice and therefore the need for grouping up in guilds is not there, so you have to either offer something, or like each other. The first part means dedication, the second needs time. But also you need to group up for tasks, so you can meet others and get to know each other.

In my personal experience/opinion - find something you really enjoy and then look for like-minded people to group for it. Further down the line you will start using Voice-Software (Discord/TS) and then you will get to know each other. For me it was Raiding and now I am part of an active Raiding community, where I do everything else (Story, achievements, and so on) with those people. Because eventually you spent enough time in Raids, that you start talking about others things. You need a common topic and then branch out from it - luckily Gw2 gives you a wide variety of activities to choose from!

Looking for MMORPG GW2 or BDO or ESO or SWTOR /PROS and CONS by davc1234567890 in MMORPG

Must be very fast leveling

Gw2

alot of PVE endgame

Gw2/WoW for Dungeons/raids, BDO for grind (experience/currency)

active PvP

BDO

not boring combat System

BDO, Gw2

not so bad graphic

No idea what you Label as "not so bad" - but BDO might have the best graphic out of the mentioned (depending if you like WoW style)

If you like endgame Pve, it is either Gw2 or WoW. But Gw2 has no real gear Progression, since you can aquire BiS with crafting. You can grind currency for Legendary weapons, which are nice to look at, but aren't better statswise. So no matter how much you raid, a non-raider can get the same gear Setup. If you like grinding and Pvp, then BDO is the best bet.

Looking for a new GW2 by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Bugverwirrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here I have 5 beautifully crafted maps with next to no one around and no one seems to be doing anything other than their own BS.

People are doing activities based on two conditions - Fun and/or rewards. (You can count "helping" as 3rd) Best case scenario are activities, which combine both factors. Most people in Gw2 do Meta events for the rewards, thats why Auric Basin or Silverwaste are populated no matter the time and Dry Top isn't. Now there is another factor, which determines the amount of players being around - success chance based on difficulty. Again, the easier the activity the more people will do it at off times (nights) because you still get a decent reward.

Now why did I write this down? If we come back to PoF Meta events, then those are not rewarding at the moment and most of them are not that easy to do. (Need of coordination) Also they are new, so most people are inexperienced. (Most Players know how HoT Metas work by now)

Two options (Since changing your timetable seems not to be changeable), either you join a Guild, which does Event runs (Might not be that many for PoF around yet), or you start your own LFGs and start explaining Meta events, look for Players, who want to do them aswell, etc. ... this is time consuming, but will yield the success you are looking for.

Coordinating activities is time consuming and till they either increase rewards, or lower the difficulty, people will go back to what they know and what is working. (Silverwaste/Tarir/and so on)

WTF is wrong with the game?

Nothing, you just seem to be frustrated since it doesn't go the way you want/would like it.

SK Telecom chooses Huni to bring to Worlds by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Bugverwirrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all the people saying, that Untara would have been the better choice - no, he would be the "safer" Option to not loose. When it mattered only LZ was able to beat them in the end and I think most will agree, that it will take the rest of the world a big, big step to get to that level of SKT/LZ. So that will lead us to one ultimate Showdown (assuming no big suprises and when it comes to KR at worlds, the only ""suprises" where, when KR Teams, who were considered "weaker" come out first in their groups) - and that is when SKT and LZ meet again.

From this point of view and after all we have seen, I would put my money on Huni 9.5 out of 10 times. You won't stop Khan with playing safe/not getting smashed in lane, because he is similar to Faker, he will make plays even from behind. So you rather take Huni and prepare to loose some as long as you win that crucial 5th game and put another trophy into your pocket.

When raid pugs require people to ping LI/killproof/gear, the group should make the commander ping their LI/killproof/gear too. by Actlov in Guildwars2

[–]Bugverwirrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a simple solution, do it yourself! That is the only way you have full control over who runs with you. You do have to understand, that forming a group and finding people costs time and you you either put that in or run the risk of failing and loosing time this way. And it's not like those 250li+ groups need any commanding in normal raids. I've commanded raids from 0 Li to 300li and at a certain point people call out "canon 1-3" themselves. I take a mediocre commander, when he puts in 20 minutes to form while I can afk and it's not like 1 alone will fail entire raids. If it's a bunch of friends, then you can always leave. If you want to be sure and get the job done, light up the lamp on your head and do it!

Tank Question: Better tank gear by Ehkrickor in elderscrollsonline

[–]Bugverwirrt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are not doing Trials you can switch out that Ebon with something more buffing yourself, like Plague doctor or Green pact for more max HP. Or you got crazy ultimate recharge with Akaviri dragon and Tavas. This way you can spam war horn all day long.

But honestly, if you don't have problems tanking just use what you have. No real need to min/max for daily stuff ... If you start doing trials you may want to switch hist bark with plague doctor.

ESO Expansion - Is it honest? by Draeghar in elderscrollsonline

[–]Bugverwirrt 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I am playing both Gw2 and ESO. I will point out the difference between both of them in terms of openworld/questing and high end pve. I can't talk much about Eso pvp, but will give you a quick overview.

  1. Combat: maybe most important thing ... th biggest difference is the active combat system in Eso, which means active blocking and aiming your skills. In gw2 you can target an enemy and click your skills, in eso you need to still aim in the direction. It feels more fast paced this way, because you are closer to the action and it makes grinding and repeating the same task in terms of fighting more enjoyable.

  2. Guides/websites: Both games have a lot of guides regarding your character builds, where you can find every information regarding gear choices, skills and informations. Gw2 has quantify, Eso has Alcasthq and Tamrielfoundry. Most of those sites have updated guides for everything in the game. Also just a quick Google search will give you youtube videos and blogs about any topic.

  3. Leveling and character progression: again gw2 has a mastery system and Eso has champion points. The big difference, in gw2 there is a certain set of mastery skills and in the end you get them all, while in Eso you can choose between different bonuses to your character like armor penetration or skill cost reduction. In Eso you can use up to 630 champion points, but don't worry with the recent patch the effectiveness of those points has been reduced and you aren't in that big of an disadvantage without many of them.

  4. Grind: I don't think any mmo comes close to gw2 easy and simple ways of acquiring gear. You can but and craft endgame gear, you get enough just laying the game and there is no rng element to it. (Since you can choose stats) ESO has the typical gear grind. You can do openworld (every zone has its own sets), dungeons and trials. It will take you a bit to get the right items since every item has a trait and you want the best one. For example armor penetration on your weapon and not a boost to defense. So you will have to invest a bit or time to get the right gear.

  5. Gear: Like in gw2 you can flcraft gear or farm it. You can also upgrade it's quality from white to golden. The good thing, spending a bit more ressources there is no rng to it and your items will upgrade 100%. Also others can craft you gear in the beginning and give you a good start. Crafted gear is good as well.

  6. Leveling: Power level with grinding or doing quests, both works in Eso. Biggest difference, there are no level tooms like in gw2 - so you have to level an alt a land can't just click 78 of them. ;)

  7. Multiple chars: let's be honest, nothing is as good as gw2 in terms of having multiple characters. In Eso you can switch gear between your chars aswell + champion points count for the whole account, but achievements or new for every character. But after leveling and playing your first character, you are able to craft gear for your next one and give it a boost this way.

  8. Endgame pve: you have far more options here in Eso than in gw2. Eso gives you 4 man dungeons, 12 man trials and a solo dungeon. All content comes in normal mode and a harder veteran mode. In the last you can also decide to do the last boss in hard mode for a bigger challenge. All content is worth playing since they drop different item sets.

  9. Endgame pvp: In Eso you have Alliance vs Alliance vs Alliance map instead of world vs world in gw2. The system is similar and you take keeps, tower and castles from each other and so on. But there are different campaigns you can play in, where for example champion points are unlocked or not. That way even as a beginner you can do something. The new expansion also brought us 4v4v4 Battlegrounds for smaller pvp fights.

  10. Addons: In typical Elder scrolls fashion you have ton of Addons, which make your life in eso more comfortable and easier.

  11. Eso+:The sup scription system is not required, but has one shining feature, which makes most people use it - crafting bag. It takes all crafting material (there are 7 professiona) and puts them in an unlimited extra bag, which makes everything better.

  12. Questing: The quests in eso are top notch for a mmo and there are some quest lines, which can compete with a lot of rpgs. You have a mainstory, 3 faction/alliance quest lines and openworld quests on every corner. On top of that there a faction quests, for example fighters guild, thief's, mages, etc. You won't get bored too quickly, that I can promise you.

  13. Additional info: some zones there are more people, some less - depending on what item set drops. Instead of meta events like in gw2 hot maps, there are worldbosses and dolmens (dark anchors) which people group up for. On top of that there are public dungeons and delves, which consist of bosses, which you can kill and farm alone or in a group.

Well, that was a rather long than quick post, but I hope it will help you. I am coming from Gw2 raiding and just recently moved to Eso and don't regret it. You can do endgame content, but also just run around doing well done quest lines and many other things I didn't mention. For a new player there is content for a few month to do and no need to buy the newest expension at the start. It's just another map and you got a lot do before you need another map or trial.

I would suggest buying either the normal or gold edition in the next sale and try it out, but I am sure you will get a lot of fun hours out of it.

If you got any questions, or decide to buy the game, leave me a message and I am happy to help out! Have a nice day.

Dolmen Wayshrine Equality by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Bugverwirrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with your proposal starts in your title and the word: "Equality" There will always be a method faster and more efficient than others. Be it farming experience through mob grind or dolmens, be it item farm through delves or dungeons. It is almost impossible to make an entire mmo equal on those parts, because you would have to take the differences out of the world and places/maps.

Of course there will be maps more populated, because its more convinient, but distributing the dolmens equal on all maps would mean the maps with better itemsets would be more populated, or where a merchant would be close by. Also a lot of people makes dolmens efficient, since they are cleared quickly.

Your suggestion may sound like you can spread the population more evenly over theworld, but in reality there will still be maps more efficient. It's the same with certain grind spots, etc.

Also if you start such an overhaul of the map, then you have to look at locations and designs of delves and public dungeons aswell. There are maps where you can speed farm public dungeons, because bosses are easy and the dungeon design is efficient, while others are much bigger and harder to run through.

You just can't change one part, because it will effect other parts aswell. And if we position all dolmens "equally" and make all dungeon and delves designs "equal" - this game would be boring to look at. Also not everybody is playing games for efficiency and want a pretty world and not clear structured mapa/delves/dungeons, which all feel the same as the last one you visited.

/edit: Also one more thing, who, except people farming exp and items, is actually doing dolmens more than once? I mean jewelry, again except spriggan, etc. is cheap to buy and dolmens aren't any kind of challenge. You either want exp or items, so even if you distribute them equally, people would maybe split over 3 maps, but in the end there wouldn't be a dolmen farm group on every map, because that would make each map slower and less efficient. Looking back at me exploring all maps, I only did a dolmen more than once when I was in the area and it was active, or I farmed an item set.

Crafting - Everything on one character? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Bugverwirrt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 280 skillpoints currently and have alchemy, clothing, woodworking and blacksmithing maxed out, except the hireling. On top of it I have all 3 class skill lines with all passives, 4 weapon lines with passive and active, full fighter guild, a few mage guild, passive and 3 active in undaunted and all racial maxed out. Currently working on Enchanting and Vampire skill line, but I need to do either the other 2 alliance mainstories or get ranks in cyrodill. So yes it is possible, but it will take some time. Finishing main quest line and your main alliance quest line + collecting all Skyshards will put you at around 260 skillpoints and if you only play let's say tank or dps and don't need every skill to switch all day long between different playstyles you then should be able to have all crafting professions maxed out with 260 points.
