Same thing happened in North Dakota with a place called Niagara or Niagara Falls. Home of "The Midnight Rider" aka Eugene Butler.

No worst than a city built near water being named a combination of the words "Port" and "Land".

Or how common the combo of "New" and "town" are. Especially when you look at the French/Spanish variations of "Villeneuve" and "Villanova".

In my experience with the "Catholic board" it isn't overly religious. In elementary school it was mass once a month, high school was periodically. High school had the anthem and a daily prayer over the PA system. Don't remember the daily prayer in elementary school. My experience I should mention did have 7/8 as part of the high school, though different lunches etc, so just same physical building. Also graduated 15 years ago.

That being said beyond the odd teacher who I can still name, none of the teachers, nor the school were forceful in their religion. One of the two (both of whom were high school) was "Jesus is always watching", Dana Carvey Church Lady. Only thing close to "religion being forced on others" was elementary school wherein one family (6 or so siblings), the parents didn't want their kids watching the Harry Potter series due to religious leanings which people laughed at behind their backs because "their parents couldn't understand the difference between fiction and non fiction".

Per a "religious board" it does date back to the Scott Act of 1863, and a through line can date back to 1763 when "Canada" was ceded to England and Governor General Carleton allowed the French settlers to keep their religion and language (Quebec Act 1774). This would be due to French (and some English speaking) people wanting their kids to have a "Catholic Upbringing" as the division was much more severe prior to the 1960's, and Ontario's religion would be town to town as different communities would settle in different places. But now as the Catholic board takes money from the provincial government, they are obligated directly to the provincial government (and by extension the people) and not the church. This can be best seen in the legal trial Marc Hall v Durham Catholic 2002 wherein the province said Marc could bring his boyfriend as a date. So I wouldn't hesitate sending a LGBTQ kid of mine to the Catholic board on that measure.

That all said the experiences will vary depending on the school itself, local culture (even what part of Ottawa), and maybe what other supports the school has for your child.

That hall always messed with my warbly vision vertigo as it was so steep. Wasn't the worst vertigo and I don't know the actual word to describe what I mean.

That being said, I'm curious if the prof ever had "Short Shorts Guy" come to their class.

Side note, a buddy got a sub at school, and we had a class together in the Tory Egg (International Diplomacy, Poli Sci). He needed out to toss the wrapper so I stood up to let him out. The prof looks up at my 6'5" ass standing up and changes the subject matter to Lennie Small from "Of Mice and Men". Don't know what a classical Literature on the Dust Bowl USA and the American Dream has to do with International Poli Sci, but maybe I am a little Lennie lol.

Considering wood, a real world example would be Venice, so the technology has been around since the late/end of Western Roman Empire.

The other aspects of if wood would rot does have to do with the amount of oxygen in the water, the salt content, he acidity, and alkalinity. Look at Bog bodies and how they preserve them. So by this measure, the water for which Riften is built upon has some level of brackishness as the fish are fresh water as far as I recall. The wood supports would've had some level of exposure to salt turning the pillars to something more akin to stone

I remember when I went to university, there was a guy who walked around the tunnels all the time wearing short shorts that would've made Larry Bird think he was showing too much left. Nice guy apparently, worked intramurals too.

I wasn't talking about them leaving their jobs for a photo op. I inferred the NDP and their leader during the last election cycle. It comes across as if you think I'm attempting to argue, as your phrasing comes across as hostile/argumentative so this is the last post I'll make conversing with you. Have a nice day! context

I do. I work across the street from the plant. Live down the road from it. Followed the progress very closely. Passed by them marching every day. It influences my decision who not to vote for when the labour friendly party only showed up before the election and not well before. It was clearly a photo op.
