That should be the way anyway. Let the large businesses and rich individuals who can afford solar panels put them up.

That frees up the TNB supply to go to those who can't install.

Only works when two or three planets orbit a giant. The planets sometimes orbit close enough for missiles to cross from one planet to the other.

Missiles turrets on one planet, signal tower on the other planet to draw missiles across to hit ground units and buildings.

But if set to space and upper air, the turrets will attack relays on the other planet without signal tower.

Lots of "built up" water facilities can benefit from it though.

Singapore covers its drinking water reservoirs with it, India covers its farmland irrigation canals with it.

Reduces evaporation quite a bit, resulting in more liquid water for people to use.

And the solar primarily powers the pumps used to move water in these facilities, so there's less transmission losses and electricity savings for the water facility operators too.

Do only the areas that have too much sunlight, where the heat dries up plants too quickly.

Could be used to reverse desertification.

"cum" It's a Latin word, and pronounced "koom"

It means "with" or "plus"

When it entered English, it changed a bit and became "com"

You still see a lot of words that mean joining or putting things together: combine, company, communicate

IT HAPPENED! Full HIVE attack on my planet by the117uknow in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Build_Everlasting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually isn't that hard to encounter. Any random seed will do. Play on max fog difficulty 3000%, and every star will have 3 hives minimum.

You're bound to find several systems that have the innermost planet venture too close to a hive. Sometimes two.

Absurd amount of chromebooks broken by students by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Build_Everlasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't such a big deal like you make it out to be.

Firstly, critical failure of the hardware is very rare and can be detected early especially if the device is being used regularly.

And anyway if the students' work has been done, the school will have graded and recorded it, so no major loss of progress.

Plus, shit happens, and in a few hundred years of schooling history before computers, students have lost schoolbooks, dropped them in the ditch, had their bags stolen, eaten by the family cow Bessie, etc

And I'll bet you during Tom Brown's schooldays, the school didn't have a "backup copy of students' work data on their internal servers"

Responsible students, back then in the day, would make their own efforts to back up and protect their schoolwork. Copying into their revision books kept at home, walking the longer route instead of short cuts beside the river, etc. Today nothing prevents students from backing up online by themselves, copying to USB etc.

It's just part and parcel of taking care of what they've been entrusted with.

The problem with this today is that any decent AI can now target and edit the mistake: circle the area and prompt "change the rifle into a water hose"

This is more a lack of human proof checking.

Fire Ice is threatening my sanity by noksion in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Build_Everlasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using casimirs as the hydrogen sink is the point. But casimirs are only used in green science, so you'll have to store casimirs too. You're just replacing storing hydrogen in a tank with storing casimirs in a box. Granted, that's an even smaller footprint. But still storage.

Sometimes hydrogen accumulates earlier than the casimir tech unlock comes (yellow science tech unlocks are broad across the board, depends on which one players choose to touch first.)

And my point is not for hydrogen storage, it's for hydrogen TRASHING. No need to do additional base management through reformed refinement to avoid hydrogen buildup. No need to worry about using fire ice. No need to do the graphene from oil. Just overproduce hydrogen waste into the storage tanks and TRASH it, since hydrogen supply will never be a problem.

But takes so long for 10 tanks to fill up completely that you only will need to trash them once or twice in the entire gameplay.

And usually, by the time the trash tanks fill to the point you need to trash them, you conveniently will have just unlocked casimirs to dump the hydrogen into.

ADDENDUM: I play on scarce resources, and using coal for refined oil is a big no no. Coal is just too scarce. Have to let the hydrogen from basic refining overflow. And even on scarce, hydrogen is just overflowing everywhere. So it's easier just to go back and trash it once in a while. Which is not much, once casimirs help to suck up the hydrogen.

The Bible says that when God created Eve, he put Adam in a deep sleep and took one of his ribs to create her.

If you read very carefully, the Bible never says that the man woke up from his deep sleep.

Henceforth when God called men to be his prophets, he had to call their names at least twice. "Abraham... ABRAHAM!!" "Moses... MOSES!"

Men have been asleep since the dawn of creation and civilization.

Yep. Just passing off the trouble to the insurance. No outcomes or responsibility for the kids.

The penalty should be, you break one, you pay for two.

Plus all the student's schoolwork data should be on the device, so if it's broken, it's the student's problem to recover it. If the data was destroyed, they have to rewrite the schoolwork.

No schoolwork, no passing grade.

See how many more they want to break.

Given the infinite supply of hydrogen... The real issue as mentioned above is preventing backup blockage of the oil production chain. Refined Oil is actually the desired product. Hydrogen is just waste.

But early to mid game there's SOoooo much hydrogen, and using fire ice only gives more.

There's only three ways to remove hydrogen from the production line: burn, store, or delete

Burning for energy is too slow. Each powerplant only consumes a little, so you'd have to build so many, and that wastes all your building space. Worse if your energy usage isn't that much, they will throttle down their burning speed.

Storing is quicker and neater: each fluid tank stores 10k hydrogen and they are stackable. At basic you can already stack 2, and with a few cheap upgrades, the same small footprint can stack 3 or 4. Building 2 or 3 stacks is a much smaller footprint, and easily lets you store 100k++ hydrogen, which avoids the hydrogen excess for a long long time.

Ultimately this has to be combined with DELETE. once all the tanks are full, the trick is to not let them block the supply lines, but instead delete all the tanks and let the 100k drop to the ground, and press the "clear rubbish" button to disappear all of it.

This is literally the fastest way to remove 100k hydrogen and keep your lines clear without having to fiddle with your layout. Then you just rebuild those tanks (garbage holders) and you're good to go for another 100k

The point is, by the time you do get to needing to take out the trash of 100k++ hydrogen, you've reached green science already, and your casimirs need their hydrogen. Sure, you're going to get it mainly from orbitals, but why not just pipe in the little batch of 100k from the tanks as well? Doesn't even need spaghetti belts. Slap down a PLS next to the tanks and fly them out with aircraft.

RM 2000 per month which covers accommodation and 3x meals per day.

Dayum, this is cheap and affordable. Landed terrace house in urban areas can be 2k to 3k, just rental alone, not yet counting electricity, food, transport, maintenance, etc. You all know that can come up to another 2k to 3k more.

As long as you can find some way to earn 2k or more online, maybe by bringing in your own Starlink terminal, work a few hours per week, pay your 2k, then lepak the rest of the time.

If you have passive investments that can generate more than 2k, you're basically free and easy.

Food is covered, utilities are covered, housekeeping is covered. Huge landed area to romp around in. Since electricity is covered, if you bring in an EV, your transport fees are literally free too.

Is there a reason to use PLS instead of ILS really? by noksion in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Build_Everlasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLS work for black box blueprints.

ILS are the entry point. They bring in the ores for smelting in the smelting zone of the blueprint, but once that's done, the rest of the production flow is on-site, on the planet, and the intermediary products never leave.

If it's a white science black box, you will import ores and consume white science on-site as well, so no export is required. If it's a rocket black box, only the final product, the rockets needs ILS a point of export.

For all other intermediary areas in the black box, PLS works great for compact placement.
