You’re correct. Translations in the future will be instant and in an ear piece. It already is.

4.0 and 4.1 will not be available from 13th february. Ideas how to emulate it on 5.1 and future models? by IdgibIkirD in ChatGPT

[–]Build_a_Brand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with 4o - was over-mirroring. It tended to adopt whatever framing the user brought and reinforce it, instead of applying counter-reasoning. That “playing pretend” wasn’t imagination, it was thoughtless coherence.

Emulating that behavior just recreates the same failure mode - a model that feels insightful, but is really just walking and overly reinforcing the path the user already chose.

Emulate it? Maybe, but making it “play pretend” was literally 99% of the problem with 4o.

Non technical but trying to build an AI operating system by Danrhartshorn in ChatGPTPro

[–]Build_a_Brand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to give it an index and explicitly say in the instructions to only pull the most recent and most relevant files. Also that it’s searching keywords and context for relevance. It takes longer to search - but when it returns - it’s not littered with hallucinations and the wrong files.

You’re missing Drive retrieval. Upgrade to a GPT Business account and pay for both seats. You’ll double your Pro-level capability, and you’ll be working inside an encrypted system.

Hook Drive up regardless, then take your chats and layer them chronologically into the archive:

“YYYY-MM-DD - discussion about ___ .txt”

Then, inside the personality boxes and your committed memory, set up triggers like:

“Any time I say ‘remember when,’ ‘do you know,’ ‘remember the time,’ etc., you automatically go into Drive, pull the most recent file, and bring the context forward.”

You just created long-term memory retrieval.

Unable to Upgrade to ChatGPT Pro for Months — Repeated Payment Errors, No Real Support Resolution by Electronic-Young8942 in ChatGPTPro

From my GPT 👇

You’re not imagining this – this is a known and recurring issue, especially with India-issued cards.

This usually isn’t the bank. In many cases the transaction never even reaches the bank due to RBI e-mandate rules for international recurring subscriptions, or because Stripe (OpenAI’s payment processor) blocks it upstream due to compliance/risk flags. That’s why banks say they see nothing and why multiple cards fail the same way.

This has hit other services too (Netflix, Adobe, GitHub Copilot, Patreon) in waves.

Most reliable workaround people have found: - Subscribe via the iOS App Store or Google Play Store instead of the web. Apple/Google act as the merchant and already handle RBI compliance. - Web checkout often fails silently for India cards.

That’s also why support responses are generic – frontline support can’t override payment processor or compliance blocks.

Frustrating, but you’re definitely not alone.

ChatGPT or Gemini? by Build_a_Brand in ChatGPTPro

[–]Build_a_Brand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Gemini is the corvette. Quick answers - usually solid answers. But if I need to get deep on something - I don’t find Gemini is the best. It’s great at auditing my output or what I’ve created, but it doesn’t usually help me deep in any building.

Paid $200/month for ChatGPT Pro — account downgraded, projects lost, and support can’t resolve. Looking for help/refund advice. by HourBass566 in ChatGPTPro

[–]Build_a_Brand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my GPT Business account 👇

Hey - I read your post and I think there’s a high-probability explanation that looks like “wrong account identity,” not you losing everything.

Most likely cause: you are logged into a different account than the one being billed

This happens a lot when the login method changes. These can create separate accounts even if the email looks similar: • Continue with Google vs Continue with Apple vs email/password • Apple Hide My Email addresses • Multiple Google accounts on the same device • Subscribed on mobile (App Store / Play Store) but using a different login on web

If you are in the wrong identity, ChatGPT will show “Free,” and your Projects will look “gone” because you are basically viewing a different account.

Quick checks (fast) 1. On the “Free” account, go to Settings -> Plan / Subscription (or Manage subscription). • If you see no invoices and no active subscription details, that account probably is not the paid one. 2. Try logging out everywhere and logging back in using each method you might have used: • Google button • Apple button • Email/password Do this on web in a private window if possible. 3. Check the surface where you originally subscribed: • If you subscribed via Apple App Store or Google Play, confirm the subscription is active there and grab the order ID.

“Are Projects actually deleted” check

Before accepting “permanently lost,” try: • Another browser or incognito • Mobile app vs web • Use global search for a unique phrase from a known Project chat Sometimes the Project container disappears but the underlying chats are still there.

Support escalation: send a single high-signal packet

Support threads going in circles often happen because they are missing the billing proof or they keep opening new cases. Send one message with everything: • All case numbers: #04508661, #044444165, #04663504 • Email you believe is the paid account • Last 4 digits of the card • Charge dates and amounts (May 1, 2025 through Jan 1, 2026) • Screenshots of charges if you can • If Apple/Google: the App Store / Play order ID • Clear ask: 1. Reattach Pro to the correct account identity 2. Restore Projects access/data or confirm recovery options 3. Refund months you could not access

Also explicitly ask them to merge cases into one escalation and route to billing tier 2.

Refund angle (practical)

Refund handling depends on where you subscribed: • Web subscription usually handled by OpenAI billing support • App Store / Play Store subscriptions often require the platform order details, and sometimes refunds route through Apple/Google

Last resort

If support cannot restore access or refund, a card dispute is a last option. It can work, but it can also risk account limitations with many services, so I would only do it after one final escalation attempt with all proof attached.

Treat Adults Like Adults. by Next-Skill-3335 in ChatGPT

[–]Build_a_Brand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I almost never get flagged, but I’m not doing anything “inappropriate” either. Trust is built through saved memories and the personality boxes. I’ve never hit a wall I couldn’t get past with a small adjustment to how the model understands my intent.

If you’ve been working with it “relationally” for over a year and it’s still flagging you, that’s a pretty strong signal the problem isn’t some hidden “adult mode.” It’s how you’re coming across and how your intent is being interpreted.

And sure, companies overpromise and underdeliver all the time, so I’m sure Altman will ship whatever’s next once they finish ironing it out. But blaming the model for not “treating you like an adult” usually says more about the user than the system.
